  1. OK, I want the Twinks to make a loser out of Sale now. Those 2 runners have to score. BoSox are in my triumvirate of hate- Yanks, and both Sox. And Sale is Sox squared, since he pitched for both of 'em.
  2. Whew, that was a heck of a strikeout. Not only timely, but according to gameday, it made Gonzalez' BA drop 11 points.
  3. Man, as a ND boy, I've spent many a long hour navigating those wind-swept plains highways and byways in a few of those states. Right now, I'm journeying from one end of the HK subway to the other, and thanks to those comments above, in a pleasant reverie. On the mobile site, sometimes the likey button appears, sometimes it doesn't. Today is a not day, but all those tales of navigating those ribbons of highway-- they're well-liked indeed.

  6. I can see Eddie getting packaged in a deadline pitching deal. I wouldn't enjoy that; he's one of my favorite Twins, but I wouldn't be surprised. I am also on the Granite-wagon, though, and would love to see him get a chance at the top of the order. Everyone was anticipating Buxton being the #1 batter for years to come, but that hasn't panned out as yet. And Dozey, bless his heart is NOT (I repeat NOT NOT NOT) a good option as a leadoff hitter. As long as we've given up on having a stolen base guy at the top, why Mr. OBP Grossman ain't leading off, I can't figure. But as far as Eddie goes, I also wonder how much to put on the dugout staff for his failing to overcome the bad habits that still plague him, (and the team when he has those brain-farts). There are a whole bunch of former solid pros on that bench, you'd think someone would have gotten through by now.
  7. Oh, my goodness, I'd forgotten all about the Rhumba Girl. She had one of the most angelic voices of all time, and that long, lovely hair..... be still my heart. But... but... why news of her today, of all days? Gonna take a lotta something to figure that one out. Thanks for the reminder, though, think I'll dig up some old Neil Young today, whom she sang with many times, and let that ease me through this rainy saturday.
  8. Saturday morning rugby training session in the rain-- just checking in. Whoa, Nelly! I thought this next cpl weeks would be the last we see of 1st place, and maybe even .500-- how I want to be wrong! (First time for everything, I guess!) But 7 games with Cleveland, then going to Beantown for 4, with only a short breath of air against the white sox... Tall order there. And, sadly, no way to bank any of those 20-something runs, which we seem to need on a regular basis now...

  12. It's tough for a pitcher going against the same team twice a week apart. Gallardo had pretty much the same game he pitched against us last time, to his credit, and actually had a better stat line. Mejia, on the other hand... Holy Cow. And now, Gibby, who had a good outing against the M's, also gets them in successive starts. Will he fare like Gallardo did, or more like Mejia? My money, sadly, is on the latter. The rest of this series, after Gibby, has the Big Two starting, but then... 4, count 'em, 4 games with Cleveland, without Berrios or Santana. I shudder to think. Espn says Duffey gets a start in that series. Maybe that's a good thing. I hope so, but then we're going to need another BP arm, right? Who's that gonna be? It's great to be above .500, and great to see the top of the Central right now, but this next stretch, I fear, is going to be the last of maybe both of those things for the year. That in itself is not a bad thing. I want to keep running those kid relief pitchers up the ladder, even to the big club, and see what potential we've got. There's a couple of sticks down in Roch right now, too, that deserve a good look. So they take some lumps? It's all about auditioning and learning. I'd rather see a young pitcher get lit and lose a game than the manager give away more winnable ones with the retreads we keep trotting out. And the sooner I see new guys wearing Belisle's and Breslow's numbers, the better.
  13. This is one kid I did not know much about going in. Didn't even have a picture of him in my mind, but now.... Geez, did they clone Derek Jeter?
  14. Well, it's exam time, so had to step away for a while. Long enough for Gimenez' ERA to match up with the rest of his bullpen pals, I see.
  15. I say we pester Molly to bring Belisle back in now- and see if things get REALLY interesting score-wise.
  16. Looks like Mejia is determined to keep the Twinks' solid home record intact. Question: If a reliable stud starting pitcher is sometimes called a "stopper," would today's edition of Mejia be a "goer?"
  17. So bummed today. Typhoon warning 8 all night-- which means the same as a Snow Day back home- no schools open, most office-type businesses closed, street markets closed, stay home and type my year end reports, and watch the ballgame. But NO! 5:40 AM they decide I must come to work, and lower the Typhoon to level 3. Still p*ssing sideways rain, lots of dead-soldier umbrellas on the sidewalks. Boooooooooo....!
