  1. I don't know about y'all, but I am tired of reading the same quotes each year taking responsibility for the roster, and getting zero repercussion from it. I get it, GMs in every sport are paid to lie and deceive, but when are we all going to hit our breaking point with TR and finally call him out on his responsibility for the outcome of this roster?
  2. It's a meticulous process digging through the dumpster these days.....
  3. Guys, our trade deadline woes are over! Vanimal was DFA'd by the Pirates today......
  4. Thanks for the chart. Yeah no kidding on the inherited runners comment. If there was an ERA based off of that, Boyer would be at Meyers level 16.88
  5. The Twins have punted any opportunity to improve so far. Might as well stay consistent with that approach.
  6. Pitchers don't need to work out like madmen to be successful. It has no effect on their pitching. See: CC Sabathia, Bartolo Colon, David Wells, Bob Wickman, and my personal favorite Ben Ancheff. Link on Ben Ancheff: http://www.sbnation.com/lookit/2015/5/29/8690519/st-thomas-bobcats-pitcher-ben-ancheff-is-our-new-favorite-athlete
  7. Another example of a buyers market this season, and no sign of a trade being made at One Twins Way.. I guess TR is thinking why pay Black Friday prices when you can wait for the "Everything Must Go!" sale in August... Ugh.
  8. I can't guess he will be a SS 3 years from now just like you can't guess he won't. All I know is if his SS playing days are numbered, he still has an elite bat that can stick in a non-premium position on the field, or DH.
  9. All fine and dandy, can't argue with your reasoning that C and RP are pressing needs. Unfortunately C was not available, and an elite SS was at a discounted price. The Twins need a lot of things to go right (Polanco's D MIGHT improve, Gordon MIGHT be ready by 18/19) They are all still question marks....
  10. I would have loved to trade those pieces now to get an elite SS that solves a huge question mark in 2016-17-18-19. I don't believe buyer's markets come around too often, and we could be missing out on acquiring high end talent at Costco-like prices.
  11. If the Twins truly stand pat, no bullpen guys, no C, no SS acquisitions, then we can kiss the WC berth goodbye. I'm fine with trying internal options in the bullpen, literally throw names in a hat. But clearly someone on staff is either too loyal to the current players, or does not believe there are difference makers in the farm. The other positions I guess we're stuck with Santana/Escobar/Nunez at SS and Suzuki behind the plate. Idk I'm off my posting game today. It's not every year that a guy at Tulo's level is available and we weren't able to close a deal from the initial conversation with them. Just disappointing.
  12. Plouffe has done well to continue his progression as a well rounded 3B. I would want him back next season and see who wins the job in ST between him and Sano. Or if he can be a trade chip to shore up either SS or C, even better. When it comes to extending his contract beyond 2016, please don't do it.
  13. Man I'm not sure how we can be so confident that a powerhouse is coming in 3 years...
  14. I doubt that anyone would be asking about E. Santana in any trade negotiation. He's certainly pitched well so far, but I would file him under "untradeable contracts" Especially when there are others of higher caliber supposedly available for trade.
  15. You could sell me on a Joe Mauer Quickswing being a better option in the bullpen at this point... Put their names in a hat and draw one out to get the call. There's a number of options to DFA and make room for Duffey, Rogers, Berrios or whoever they choose.
  16. TR could still live up to his motto of building pens on the cheap if they would make a call to Rochester or Chattanooga.... not sure who's the one being too loyal with these players (Boyer, Duensing, Fien) but it's getting ridiculous.
  17. Exactly. No need to tell me, I've been pro-Tulo trade this whole thread. I nearly lost my mind reading all of the "declining phase" posts earlier...
  18. I like it. The trade proposal, the reasoning behind the proposal, all of it. It's a gamble but could pay off in huge dividends for our favorite club.
  19. Welcome aboard the Pro-Tulo team Brock! I know you haven't completely written off the deal throughout this whole thread, but up until today you were much more skeptical about it. What's changed?
  20. “He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else.” - Benjamin Franklin These are poor excuses for explaining the struggles playing against west coast teams. On a typical WC road trip they spend what, about a week at a time out there? Plenty of time to adjust. The "extra responsibility" of getting extra tickets for friends and family? Preposterous. They have Director of Ops guy handle any ticket requests.
  21. I rip that trade as much as anyone, but in all fairness, it's not like Ramos has developed into an All-Star. In fact, the guy's only played over 100 games at C once in his career, 2011. He's had significant injuries in 12,13,and 14. And this year he may be healthy again, but having his worst season at the plate. .249/.277/.388 I guess the Nationals still win because Ramos is still in the MLB? But it's not a complete fleece of a trade like we all think.
  22. The biggest holes that we've all been debating on are SS and C. Check out this list of pending FA's this off-season, and let me know your thoughts on how we can fix these holes..... Catcher: Matt Weiters (debatable if he gets to FA) Alex Avila Chris Ianetta John Jaso Jeff Mathis Dioner Navarro Brayan Pena A.J. Pierzynski Shortstop: Ian Desmond Joaquin Arias Clint Barmes * Willie Bloomquist Asdrubal Cabrera Alcides Escobar * Cliff Pennington Alexei Ramirez * Jimmy Rollins Brendan Ryan * * means they have a 2016 option http://www.baseballprospectus.com/compensation/cots/league-info/potential-2016-free-agents/ is the source. Long story short, the names aren't pretty to find on the open market... Hence why standing pat at the trade deadline could force the Twins to be in this same situation in July 2016.
