    Concur. The only other person I have a remote interest in is Pineda. Overall he's pretty meh though.

    Croft: 2 for 11 - 43 yards - 3 INTs - 6 dropped passes from WRs. Ouch.

    He had one major arm issue, resulting in Tommy John back in 2015. That caused him to miss all of that season plus a portion of 2016 recovering. His velocity has actually improved after he returned from surgery, from 93.4 MPH in 2014 to 94.7 MPH in 2017. Besides the Tommy John, he's been durable a la Ervin, so I'm not that concerned about him being 31 years old. He should have 3 more good seasons in him at least. Now, it's still not certain whether this is realistic so I'm holding back from future heartbreak.... If this is truly realistic, I'd be ecstatic.

    I agree that Turley has the most potential for pain and heartbreak in the future. He should find a nice home in Pittsburgh's bullpen. Hopefully Rogers, Moya, or someone else makes up for the loss.

    Yep. Without diving into the hot taek argument of "WHAT IS AN ACE?", Darvish would absolutely be the best pitcher on this team. I don't like getting into the weeds of whether he's an ace, #2, or #3 pitcher on a grand scale. Darvish would be the Twins' opening day starter, the first person they'd look at starting on short rest, and start multiple games in a post season series.

    Just started watching Orphan Black on Amazon Prime per a recommendation from a friend. 3 episodes in and it's quite intriguing so far! I don't know how Sarah (the main character) was so out of the loop about all of her clones around the world.

    Yeah, the 21-25 group had a lot of potential to shoot back up the list, for various reasons. Stewart (potential breakout) Jay & Arraez (injury recovery) Rortvedt (if his 2nd half was for real)

    I would argue that he's received chances to prove his worth, but hasn't taken advantage of the opportunities. He is cheap from a contract standpoint, but he's out of options. Which IMO is more valuable than the contract rate.

    I have no desire to give Vargas 500+ PAs over the course of the season. Frankly Vargas would have to hit out of his shoes in order to make up for his lack of defensive flexibility. If we just witnessed the rise to his peak age-27 season, it hasn't been impressive.

    Agreed. On paper it looks like there are more shut-down relievers in FA than impact SP. And, given that there's enough high end prospects in the system to make one blockbuster type trade, I'd go with my man crush Cole, or Archer. The FO knows more than us whether it's truly realistic to trade for Archer or Cole.... For now, it appears they're exploring all options, so I can't complain so far.

    That's the million dollar question, is it more important to trade for an impact SP or impact RP? The Twins certainly need both. A SP gives a team more innings, but a really good RP gives a team an opportunity to put out fires multiple games a week. In today's baseball where starters go 5-7 innings, maybe a shut-down reliever is more valuable than we think.

    I doubt there's even an off chance the Twins convert Iglesias back into a starter. If he had any desire to do so, wouldn't Cincinnati try that out? They had nothing to lose, with the #29 ranked SP unit at 5.36 runs allowed per game. They were #27 the year before with 5.27 RA/G.

    Unless he continues being the closer, why would he opt-out? Arbitration isn't friendly to relievers that aren't closing games. To answer your second question, they must think Iglesias is better than virtually all of the FA options. They still may elect to go with a FA RP if the price isn't right for Iglesias.

    Definitely intrigued by Iglesias. After transitioning to the bullpen full-time, he gained 3 MPH on his fastball (96.4 MPH velocity) and moved away from his sinker to be a true FB/SL guy. If he's the guy the FO wants, I think the farm system has enough depth now to trade away a couple of pieces and acquire a big upgrade in the bullpen.

    Kepler would still get the lions' share of the PAs. Probably ~450-500 PAs. Then the 4th OF would fill in on ~150-200 of Kepler's PAs vs. LH hitting, and another ~100-150 of Rosario's PAs vs. LH.

    I mean, we're talking what.... ~300 PA's for the 4th OF? I don't see anything wrong with maximizing those 300 PAs with a good bat.

    Lackey was cooked last season. Next year he'll be burnt to a crisp. Also, as an advocate for increasing pace of play in baseball, Lackey would drive me nuts. Never forget it took him literally 5 minutes to throw 6 pitches in a playoff game. Hard pass on Werth as well.

    The numbers may seem a little heavy in 2017 value. In 2022 and 2023? Who knows. That could be the going rate for a platoon player for example. This would be the off-season to get extensions done with these guys. Next off-season with several star players hitting FA is going to break the salary scale as we know it.

    In fairness, Charlie Morton looked like a forgettable signing for the Astros, but they fixed him. None of us has the data or study enough to know who's fixable, and who's not on this list. I wouldn't mind one on this list to see if they can catch lightning in a bottle. Certainly don't know who that pitcher would be. I'll leave that up to the FO.

    Agreed. QB was a huge question mark coming into the year, but they still had enough talent to continue running the ball well. I'm not sure what's going on with Brooks. He looked like the best RB overall last year. Now he's off and on playing.

    371 rushing yards given up by the Gophers. Had to turn it off because it was that embarrassing. Fleck better be the best recruiter we've ever seen, because they're light years away from being competitive in the Big 10.

    Weird day in the Big 10... Ohio State gets destroyed by Iowa. Penn State falls to Michigan State. The conference is now anybody's to take.

    I would do this exact thing. Shaw and McGee would be solid additions to the pen.
