  1. A 2nd round pick is more valuable than Dozier? No need to take this personally. He's going to continue playing the best he can for Minnesota so he can cash in as much as possible. It's up to Minnesota if they want to compete against LA, NY, and Chicago for his services.
  2. I don't blame anyone for wanting to explore free agency. Teams control a player for long enough. I'd like to keep him as a Twin for the foreseeable future. Next winter it's time for the Twins to bid against the big market teams.
  3. I'm a fan of this signing. Best case scenario they found a borderline All Star for a cheap 2 year deal. Worst case he's a $6.5 MM bench bat. Frankly I like his chances to reach All-Star caliber play compared to Vargas.
  4. I mean, how long were we supposed to wait for these guys to become high impact arms? Melotakis, Bard, and Chargois are all 26/27 years old. Burdi is 25. I don't blame them for wanting to move on to other pitchers.
  5. According to LEN3 the MLB hasn't even interviewed Sano yet. Typically MLB gathers all evidence they can, and interview the player last.
  6. I'm intrigued with following the teenage pitchers over the next couple of years. These are Falvine's babies that will immediately start in their development program. I'm interested to know what their development cycle looks like.
  7. I always read your posts and respect your perspective, bird. Because of you I know that Sickles has ~20 B- or higher rated prospects. All we can ask for is having as many darts as possible to throw at the board. It's comforting to know there's depth in the system to absorb some of the flame outs.
  8. We just need to find out exactly how much he weighed in April 2017 and make sure he weighs exactly that from here on out. If he's a pound over that April 2017 benchmark he has to run on the hamster wheel. If he's lucky, maybe he can eat a leaf of lettuce. No dressing of course. Every calorie counts!
  9. I don't think we have to worry about the possibility of him signing a 10 year contract here. Why would he stay here when every season comes around his weight, work ethic, and attitude are questioned?
  10. Where did I type that? I responded to another poster who said his ideal weight is less than 230 lbs. And Sano said as much 5 years ago when he was 19 years old.
  11. So you believe a person's ideal weight stays the same from the time they're 19 going on 20 years old? That's how old Sano was in 2013. At 19 my ideal weight was 175 lbs. Now at 27, and well after the discovery of delicious craft beers, my ideal weight is less than 200 lbs.
  12. Link? I don't think that boy has weighed less than 230 since he was 17 years old. Athletes get bigger, faster, and stronger every year. If he's hiding 80 lbs of fat he does a good job hiding it.
  13. Right. If someone like Buxton, who earned most of his value Fielding showed up at 300 lbs we'd have a serious problem. With Sano he earns his value with the bat. As long as his beer belly doesn't get in the way of crushing a low fastball, I'm fine with whatever weight he is.
  14. It wouldn't be spring training if there wasn't a "Sano needs to lose weight" article written. Plus, isn't it hard to work out and train when you're recovering from a stress fracture? I'll never understand fans ripping on Sano.
  15. It looks that way on the surface... Though I'm intrigued to find out what ideas Falvey has to tweak his game.
  16. I'm happy with this news. I'll gladly trade an A-level #20 org prospect for someone who can help in the majors right now. He's arb-eligible for 1 more year so it's not a rental either. Hopefully he returns to #3 starter performance this season and fix whatever went wrong for him last year.
  17. He allowed a 37.4% hard hit rate last year. It's going to be ugly. What are we hoping for here? Something better than Colon last year for 10 starts?
  18. Sigh... Yeah, it looks like they're going to ride the waiver wire carousel this year again. I don't have a strong opinion anymore about who to sign. Let's go after someone who had an ERA better than 5 last year.
  19. I appreciate pitchers like Gonsalves. He hasn't been able to get by on a 97 MPH fastball or a Wipeout slider throughout his life. He's had to learn how to adjust at every level, and so far he's been able to do it. I think it would do him a world of good to take things slow with him. I'd feel comfortable assessing the situation again after 15-20 more starts in AAA.
  20. Concur from my perspective in Austin. I guess Dallas could be perceived as a high end city because it's littered with what we call '$30,000 millionaires'. The ones acting like hot shot millionaires but only make $30k... Houston is a concrete beast of a city with 7+ million people. Worth visiting, but I wouldn't want to live there.
  21. What do you do with a bobble head once you acquire a bobble head? I ask that as someone who has probably 10 of them packed somewhere in a storage unit.
  22. We're also starting a protest in a furniture store later today! It's called "Bummin' it for Bumgarner" We will refuse to get off of the couches in the showroom until the Twins trade for him! Hmm, this may take a few days.... So we're switching up the location to IKEA! We'll stay nourished on sweedish meatballs until something happens!
