    Theo has been lucky. It's all been luck. Any GM could have done what he did with the Red Sox and now the Cubs :-)

    we are quite a long way from being a competitive team. Going to take time to build this team right and fix all the issues in order to make this a true playoff contender. We shouldnt want a patchwork job done. And yes, while its true not even the best manager would have made this team a contender, molitor couldnt manage this team to 60 wins this year.

    I'd love to give you the info you asked for but unfortunately, right now, Fangraphs isn't showing season splits for defense. Batting and pitching, yes, but not defense. I do know the team DRS kept going higher in the negative, but I believe it slowed (while still being negative)

    That would be horrible, IMO. Giving an MVP to someone for sentimental reasons when there are many players more deserving. He's not even the most deserving on his own team.

    This question confuses me. FAs can't be traded. They'd be the ones you would buy. There are plenty of pitchers that may be able for trade for the right package that can't just be bought on the open market.

    I'd be surprised if the Twins actually had May in the rotation next year, regardless of what's been said by our interim GM.

    As far as making players compete in ST for spots, I believe the Twins (and perhaps other teams) perpetuate that myth for PR reasons, but they've already decided what they are going to do before ST ever begins. Too often we've seen the players doing the best in ST lose these supposed battles.

    With even more teams having a shot at the playoffs, more teams are going to go for it at the deadline. Nowadays, there are more teams in the race than not. So now you have maybe 18-20 teams going for it and trying to find players to put them over the top from the remaining teams not in it, because they can't just go get someone in FA, and those other teams in the playoff hunt aren't going to give up anything, especially pitching. During the offseason, everyone gets a chance to trade with everyone else and the slate is clean. There's also FA where it's just about money. No one is getting desperate because they find themselves either dropping after a good start and they want to stop the bleeding, or are surprisingly in it and want to make sure they can stay there.

    It's not true. They talk about trade deadline premium for a reason.

    about a long as we've been hearing about Gibson being at the point of his career where he is just about to turn the corner ;-)
