  1. Thanks. That is very good to know. There have been effective knuckleballers who didn’t spin the ball at all or minimally. Use of an Emory Board can enhance that pitch. Bring back the knuckler.
  2. Trade Buxton. He is incompatible with the team that spawned Killebrew Root Beer. Replace him with Broxton, and we’ll never know the difference due to the similarity in names.
  3. Maeda for Cy Young at 22-1 is a pretty decent bet. He was 2nd in AL Cy voting last year, abs has been impressive this Spring. That’s a decent 22-1 longshot bet for 2021
  4. Certainly, the Twins used to have a steady, mild-mannered guy who could crunch the ball like that. His unlikely nickname was “The Killer”, based on his name Killebrew. AK may be the current chosen nickname, but this player with a last name starting with “K” could prove himself deserving of a better nickname: 1. Killer 2.0 2. The Kirler 3. Kir-rilla 4. AK-19 5. The Great Alexander (with apologies to Grover Cleveland Alexander).
  5. If those minor league instructors were indeed valuable employees, the Twins should have found a better form of discipline than outright release. The instructors reportedly violated Covid protocols during what looks like the final weeks of this pandemic (as the vaccine supply increases). I hate to see the organization make decisions that will effect the team for several years based on rules for a pandemic that likely not to be a significant health issue affecting the team sometime between April 15 to July 1, 2021.
  6. I’m looking at the CDC “Covid-19 Vaccination Record” card I received. It has two official looking stickers for my first and second doses of the Pfizer Vaccine. Looks harder to duplicate than the fake IDs I bought from NIPCO in my college daze (sic).
  7. Yesterday’s new CDC guidelines don’t seem to make much sense for this fully vaccinated person. Apparently, the vaccinated can “let it rip” maskless in private, We can even go out in pubic with a mask after exposure to people (even massive numbers of people) infected with the virus (no quarantine). However, somehow we become a danger sitting outside at a Twins Game with a mask but not socially distanced. Maybe, some don’t like the idea of a “vaccine passport” (“It isn’t fair to the unvaxxed”) but it would help our team put more fannies (albeit mostly old fannies for now) in the stands and selling a few more hot dogs and overpriced glasses of beer.
  8. Buxton had better power numbers lately. He put on more muscle in the off-season. He needs a place in the middle of the order (2 thru 6).
  9. I suspect Sparkma. Would rather have played when “The Igniter” was manager.
  10. Are you really itching to see more games with Kirilloff as the epidemic still limits access to Target Field in April? Me neither. Get the extra year.
  11. Buxton’s bat, especially power, is improving and justifies a higher place in the batting order. Dobnak inducing ground balls and improved defense gets him a place in the pen (if not 5th starter).
  12. Is this the annual Max Kepler Breakout Season thread? I’m getting a feeling of Deja Vu.
  13. Forget Groundhogs and Robins. This is the true first sign of Spring. It’s even starting to get warmer up here on the tundra. Go Twins
  14. Please - Can somebody give us the correct phonetic pronunciation of his name???
  15. $2 deal is low risk. If he can prove himself and win a spot, that’s good. If someone else beats him out, that’s OK too
  16. Agreed. That is a ridiculous contract, snd I hope it backfires for the Dodgers. Amassing a group of good, improving younger players is a better strategy than overbidding for aging players who have been good in previous years. The Twins can sign Andrelton Simmons to improve SS for a year, but the future for this team is developing a talented SS - hopefully Royce Lewis, but maybe someone else in the system. That is true at every other position (with exception of DH). I was NOT a big supporter of the Josh Donaldson long-term contract, for example. I hope I’m wrong on that. I have less problem in signing aging players at DH (Chili Davis, Thome, Cruz) to one and two year deals, but thought it was time to move on from Cruz this year. The future is with amassing talented, younger players.
  17. Barber is the obvious pick. But another one to consider is Taylor Rogers.
