  1. I suggested it because he would likely only cost $. 25 million over the next yr and a half, he hasn’t been great but he is a control pitcher and would likely go well with th twins good defense compared to the Cubs terrible defense. he adds you a veteran playoff experienced arm and I believe the Twins are still under budget.
  2. The bat has been the most disappointing thing by far. He has been a solid pitch framer and and can block pitchers pretty well, that has made up for his stiffness and lack of big arm behind the plate. It is mid June and hitting sub .200 without a ton of walks or power is terrible!!! I think you end up rolling with him and Sanchez the rest of the season but if it doesn’t pick up this off-season we’ll be looking for 2 new catchers.
  3. I don’t want to give up big future pieces for a starter. wonder what Kyle Hendricks would cost? I feel the bullpen need more help then the starting staff, like 3 additional. Bullpen has been taxed with a lot of inning thus far.
  4. This same discussion comes up over month, he is either playing well and should be seen as “more” or he isn’t hitting well or makes a gaff or two and he’s ready to be cut. Nick Gordon is a utility play!!! He provided great value in todays MLB with 3 or 4 man bench’s. He plays defense well enough at 5 different spots. He can hit well enough while not being givenconsistant ABs.
  5. Moran is the only one of the group, bugs bunny change up as a lefty. Who can be a late inning relieve at the majors. The walks and overall control have to get better. thielbar can be a lefty specialist and have success. Im not sold on Cotton. trevor Magill looked good in his limited role.
  6. I think you see how poor our pitching is against the better hitters. Bullpen has holes and get exposed when your pitchers can’t get out of the 4th inning. You can play the matchup game and make it work for an inning or so. But when you try to play the match up game for 5 inning is 3 straight games you get hit around!!! I saw how many quality pitchers we are away from contention both starters and in the bullpen. 2022 hopefully is a competitive fun summer as the offense and you kids shin (Larnich, Miranda Arraez Jeffers, hopefully Lewis and Kiriloff soon) but the pitching both bullpen and starters isn’t sustainable for a playoff series.
  7. How would you compare Steers defensively to Martin? (Played together in Wichita) how about overall value at this point between Martin, Steers and Miranda. Miranda is currently kn the 40 man and has show he can hit major league pitching doesn’t have great plate discipline and isn’t great defensively at 3rd or 1st and you have Urshela and Arraez at 1st and 3rd and the twins seem to prefer that. Martin on a down year isn’t hitting as well and no power along with proving he can’t really play SS. He does have good speed and contact skills and can steal bases. Steers putting up big numbers at both AAA and double AA. Kind of seems to have some Brian Dozier in him.
  8. I have many questions about encarnacion -Strand and Steers. How legitimate of prospects have they become? Both have put up eye popping numbers. How is there defensive grades? How do both stack up to say Miranda. Is Encarnacion - Strand going to be moving to Witchita soon if not why?
  9. I’m still high on Martin going forward. This team isn’t one or 2 players away. I’m still looking for a 2023 build. I wouldn’t go and move him. buy low on a starting pitcher and we will need some serious bullpen arms but nothing that should cost a Martin. what do you think Kyle Hendricks would cost?
  10. As the rotation sits we have no other options injuries have occurred and the IL is full of starting pitchers. Here to hoping Bundy can find some of that April magic. Our other options at this point are Aaron Sánchez or Chi Chi for 3 innings!
  11. I would guess that he sticks at SS through the trade deadline. He maybe a prospect the front office will look at as a movable piece and SS have a considerable amount of value then a LFer or 2B. If he sticks with the Twins they will likely promote him to AAA and begin to move him around to prepare him for the Nick Gordon/Arraez role later in the season and in 2023
  12. No not yet, im not a big Nick Gordon guy but the super utility guys at the end of the bench is a needed piece on every MLB roster. I dont want Miranda up or Lewis up to fill a utility role and not playing everyday that hampers development. You start cutting guys like this an the injury bug hits we are back to bouncing through the AAAA players having to come up and filling on a regular basis. Look at the state of our current bullpen, you get some injuries to the staff and depth goes quickly. Gordon has value on this team even if it isnt as a everyday player or tons of upside production. Teams need that kind of guy who can fill in everywhere and be ready for a 1 or 2 games a week.
  13. As long as we are in the division race ( at this point there is almost no chance we fall out by ASG) we wont trade Correa. Yes he would bring a prospect hall but the club house presence and the opportunity to play in the playoff as a division winner there is no way he is moved. I dont believe we are championship team but you have to get that 0-18 off our back and if you get in the playoff you have a change, especially in baseball.
  14. Everyone is so focused on “contend” in 2022. I truly believe they didn’t and do not believe they are championship team in 2022. The push was for 2023. Being competitive in 2022 with a eye on who can contributed and a piece moving forward. with Rogers only on the roster for 2022 he doesn’t help you in 2023. would having Rogers make us a better team now, yes. Would it elevate your feeling of being a contender this yr? For me it’s no! great to have a competitive team and roster this summer but no illusions of us this fall. If we can make it there
  15. I know its disappointing for Lewis to go back down and be banished to AAA, but its the best thing for him and for the organization long term. Lewis is going to make the most $ being a shortstop long term, you take him out of that and the development he needs for sustained success as a SS is hampered. Can we just be realist here and say the 2022 Twins team is not a championship club. Correa isnt staying here in 2023. If we want to have a championship roster for 2023 you need Lewis at SS. Let Royce go back down work at SS get at bats, save service time. There will be more injuries and struggles this isnt the last we see in 2022 of Royce and hopefully he gets enough work that SS in 2023 and behand is a thing!
  16. With this dead ball, the 1/2 of the league players that subscribed to elevate and celebrate are really struggling. I think Both Urshela and Sanchez are safe for the season. We have literally no other options at Catcher and not much in the pipe line, which is scary. I think Urshela will come around a bit and has been decent in the field, with all the injuries and 40 man roster crunches i dont see him moving on.
  17. If Correa is back as well as Arreaz and they are going to give 1B over to Kiriloff. Id rather see both Miranda and Lewis go back to AAA rather then get scramble for atbats and lose development time and lose Gordon. If Gordon was placed on Waivers he would get picked up probably by a bottom feeding AL team (first few choices)
  18. with 3 man bench and station to station baseball a guy who can fill in at every position other then catcher and play it relatively well while adding some speed as a pinch runner has good value. If he can continue what he is doing he will have a big league job for years to come.
  19. Realistically he will get 3 more starts before serious consideration of removing and release. His next start againstHouston then in Cleveland and again in KC. If you can’t get Cleveland and KC hitters out your in big trouble. He’s also add zero value to the bullpen and if removed from the rotation would likely mean DFA
  20. Arraez doesn’t get walked? Are pitchers scared of his power? A week ago we’re you calling Correa one of the worst hitters overall in the majors? He was hitting .155 with 1 extra base hit? Oh how a week can change numbers and views early!!! just like prospects hitting .400 early and having 5 6 hrs shouldn’t be called up after April panic should ensue going the other way as well
  21. Not worried at all it’s the first month of the season he has put the ball in play taken walks and found his way on base and then stolen bases. Not every hitter need to hit 30 hr and strike out 200 times. I like the positional versatility look at how valueable Arraez has been filling in. i do think the SS experiment needs to end and move him back around the OF and 2B 3B. If the power doesn’t come 4 of the 5 tools with great bat to ball skills is still extremely valuable.
  22. I really liked Miranda’s 2 strike approach. First 2 strike are for you and the 3rd if for the team! look to drive the ball with big swings when your ahead in the count or before your 2 strike but one you get 2 strike your swing changes and you just focus on putting the ball in play and Letting it fall where it may. Balls have eyes teams make errors and can always have productive outs moving runners over.
  23. I’ve liked Sand but he needs to stay as a starter. I don’t see high end production from him as a reliever and seems so much better as a starter. This won’t be the last time we see him this season. Go back down stay stretched out and put up # at AAA. He also seems like a guy the Twins would use as a trade piece come July if they like Woods Richardson and Balazovic better.
  24. Starters look great early, doubt it continues. Offense needs better more consistent production. The offense only scores average because when they have scored runs they have come in bunches and blow out wins. The next game they will put up 1 run or 0. Overall a good first month, the old saying tho is true. You cant win a division in April but you sure can lose it. See Twins in 2021.
