Are the Twins Frontrunners for Carlos Correa?
High heat replied to Ted Schwerzler's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
That 270 over 9 yrs seems about right. Even giving him an opt out after 3 yrs. That comes out as 30 mi per yr. Twins should be comfortable with his health and should already have his physical and aware of such rod in his ankle. They should have known about it before signing the last deal even if it didn’t scare them off because it was only a 3 yr deal.- 61 replies

I get that power is desirable and helps drive in runs but it is one way to drive in runs and one way to win games. My argument is if you have 4 of the 5 tools you can still be a productive and valuable player to a winning team. I just hope you are a big Joey Gallo fan! Power and OBP that’s his game!

I totally understand hitting for power is super valueable and combining power with OBP and good defense is great. But not everyone is 6’8 and 280lbs and very few players can do that. Think of how much better the Yankees would have been last year if they had a guy who hit in front of Judge who had a .400 obs and could steal bases!

I don’t understand why “ having a position” and developing power is so important! Does Arraez have value? Does Whit Merrifield have value? If Martin can be a guy who can fill in at 3B and 2B along with the 3 outfield spots. Can get on base with good ABs and steal bases (something that is much needed on the twins and from Rocco to let them run) I just see lots of value there in those skills. I know those skills aren’t sexy and so top prospect status falls off.

Looking at free agencies still available and see Alex Reyes was non tendered by the Redbirds and still a free agent. He has been riddled with injuries but when he is healthy he was a dominate reliever and that 100+ mph fastball the moved all over is crazy! Not sure what his health status is but could be a decent bullpen add with very high upside. At this point in the market there is a lot of risk for all the guys left on the market. He seems to be one with game changing upside

Does Andrew McCutchen Do Anything For You?
High heat replied to Lou Hennessy's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I like McCutchen and I like trey Mancini but you can’t take either in until you trade one of the current LH corner outfielders. You can’t have Garlick, Kepler gallo, Kirilloff, Gordon and larnach all on the roster and add another.- 36 replies

Ranking the Trade Value of Twins Corner Outfielders
High heat replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If Larnach has that much value I would be looking for the teams or teams that believe it. He doesn’t look anything special to me and I’m the same mold as the others, but plays the worst defense of them all. I believe Kepler is going to thrive with the shift ban. I’d actually like to see a Kepler Gallo and Buxton OF with Kirilloff and Gordon sprinkled in and Garlick against LHP- 33 replies

One Intriguing Shortstop Trade Target for the Twins
High heat replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I like that he is a good fielding SS who has great speed and a bit of power. With the larger bases and the shift ban the Offensive game in baseball is going to change dramatically in the next few years. The question is what would he cost in terms of prospects? But with his versatility and team control I’d guess Baltimore will be asking for some decent prospects in return. -
The Latest on the Minnesota Twins Free Agency Rumors
High heat replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I wonder what both Kimbrel and Britton would cost. Maybe you get both to have bounce back years and suddenly you have a great back end of the bullpen. I know it’s drawing at straws at this point. The Twins have a lot of middle rotation “options” if you had a good back of the bullpen to go with that you could have a successful season and see that as the only option remaining to put together a good year.- 39 replies

Minnesota Twins Sign Joey Gallo
High heat replied to Theo Tollefson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Actually loook at his #s!! He pulls the ball with hard contact more than anyone else in the league. Yes he strikes out a ton yes. But he takes a lot of walks and removing the guy in short right field and the SS having to stay on the left side of 2B those BA numbers if he hits similar to last season will ski rocket! Is he a perfect fit no but he should be solid. Now I think a trade of Larnach is the play here. He has value over Kepler to the small market teams who are more likely to be looking to shed some high payroll players. -
Minnesota Twins Sign Joey Gallo
High heat replied to Theo Tollefson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I actually really like this deal!! Joey Gallo along with Kepler are going to benefit heavily from the shift ban. Very good defensive OF with Gallo in LF Kepler in RF and Buck in CF. -
I don’t think Swanson is going to come much cheaper then Correa or Bogaerts. Still 3 teams with lots of $ who need a SS. i would t mind calling the Padres and see if you can swing a Kim and Snell deal if they are looking to move some of that Snell salary. wouldn’t mind seeing what the Yankees want for ICF. I didn’t this Correa was a move the needle play. Yes he plays very solid defense at a premium position. But I don’t remember one big clutch hit and remember lots of missed opportunity. $350 million for that long was going to hamper what the Twins could do moving forward.

Why Can't the Twins Spend Like the Padres?
High heat replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Yes TV deal is the biggest blunder of the organization. No one can just tune in to the game for an inning or 2 or 3 multiple days a week. Or even catch part of a game at a local establishment. which turns into excitement generated for the team. That in turn brings fans to games. If the twins play an exciting Tuesday night game literally no one but the serious Twins fans even know about it. Bally sports ( the Twins originally signed the deal with Fox sports who was forced to sell) is the worst TV group to for baseball. Their unwillingness to work with the internet TV providers for there gambling purposes has robbed millions of potential baseball fans for watching baseball through the country. The last thing baseball needs is not giving access to watch game to you fans. Who are the majority or internet tv subscribers. the twins and the many other baseballs teams should refuse to negotiate with Bally sports at the end of this deal because of this. Baseball needs as much access for the young generation as humanly possible if they want to survive in 20 years! -
Rumor: Bogaerts has gone to San Diego
High heat replied to Doctor Gast's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
With the deal he just got from a team in San Diego who already has an all star SS the Giants and possible the Cubs are going to outbid us. -
Minnesota Adds Farmer to Infield Mix

I will guess this means we will be sitting back in the SS market and seeing who if any fall. Farmer is our fall back plan if none exist. -
Looking at 3 Under-The-Radar Shortstop Trade Targets
High heat replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
With you 100% Mondesi may be non tendered, I’d like to see the asking price of Nicky Lopez. I’d give Mondesi a look in that even if he struggled or gets hurt you are ultimately waiting for Lewis to take over. Ultimately you would like Correa but don’t want to be strapped with him for 8+ years at 30+ per- 34 replies

Prospect Retrospective: Matt Wallner
High heat replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I am not ready to crown Wallner the RF of the future. He has looked good in his at bats thus far, he looks like a capable RFer. Its september its a weeks worth of atbats, the strikeouts history is a serious consideration. Remember when Chris Parmelee came up and had a red hot September after have a very productive year at AAA and we thought he was going to be the next great thing. How did that pan out the following season/seasons? Cant crown young guys king after a good september. -
I know everyone is down on Kepler and rightfully so over the past 2 season but with the shift ban next and Kepler ability to strictly pull the ball and put it in play all the time he is going to go from a .215 hitter to a .285+hitter! Maybe the power never comes back but he will be a productive hitter and one of the most influenced by the shift ban.

Seth what your thoughts on Chris Williams and Camargo as big league catchers? What ive seen of Williams is his bat seems decent at AAA but getting a lot of time at 1B rather then C. That have him seen as less then capable MLB catcher? How about Camargo? I thought he was seen as a good defensive catcher with a poor bat, but bat seems to be showing up at AA thus far.

Ranking the Best Pitches in Twins History
High heat replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Duran's Splinker is cool, because of the name! I would put it on par with Liriano's slider whne he first came up. It was dominate for a short time until his arm was gone and he never recovered that back! Hopefully Duran's arm and body holds up and he can be dominate for yrs to come. Johan's Changeup stood the test of time, it was a dominate pitch for multiple season and he was a 2 pitch starting pitcher for most his career throwing just a fastball and the change with just a rare slider to lefties.- 16 replies

What's Behind Arraez's August Struggles?
High heat replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
100% right! pitchers once they get two strikes, aren't trying to get him out with breaking balls and pitches away. Which Arraez is amazing at punching to LF and between SS and 3rd. They are busting him up and in -
What Can Billy Hamilton Provide the Twins?

Is Carlos Correa Really Going to Get Paid?
High heat replied to Ted Schwerzler's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I am really not sure that is certain. A guy who is hitting .260 with a 425 SLG and is a 3 WAR players. I know 2022 is likely an outlier but im not 100% certain he would get that same deal or offer.- 46 replies
