  1. A chance. It didn't work out, but a runner on third scores on a WP/PB, base hit, error, balk, etc...
  2. Bad stretch in terms of days off for this to happen, none until September 1. With Ryan and Gray pitching Sunday and Monday, the team could very well be swept by Houston as well.
  3. I know most of you didn't care for Apple TV+ announcers, BUT one of the announcers acknowledged Lopez's higher walk rate since being traded. He/she (I can't remember which announcer, I was at work) stated that Baltimore catchers are taught to set up over the middle of the plate instead of on the edges and maybe that was the reason. It makes a bit of sense in that if you are aiming for the glove, and it is over the middle of the plate, if you miss to either side, you will probably still be over the plate. And as we have seen with MLB players continuing to hit into the shift, learned behaviors at this level are hard to break (in this case both pitcher and catcher).
  4. Getting to be more and more common. There were several players mic'd and interviewed during the Field of Dreams game.
  5. Buxton and Correa are 1a & 1b on my list of most important players going forward. Buxton is the de facto face of the franchise and Correa was signed for his playoff experience and performance. Both are showing signs of life recently has Buxton has a .276/.364/.569 = .933 OPS slash line with 5 HR in 16 games since the All-Star break and Correa has quietly put together an 8 game hitting streak with .357/.472/.464 = .937 OPS with 1 HR. After that 2a, 2b, & 2c are Gray, Ryan & Mahle and 3a, 3b & 3c are Fulmer, Duran and Lopez. Fill in the rest with the rest. Cheating? Maybe, but this is how I see it. The Big 3 in the rotation have got to keep the team close through 5 or 6 and the Big 3 in bullpen can't give it away.
  6. What he has provided so far makes what the team will do with him when Jeffers is due back an interesting and tough decision. Expanded rosters may make it easier to carry a third catcher. Urshela is arbitration eligible next year, making him both a viable choice to stay and a valuable trade piece.
  7. Stop using facts on here, most of the posters don't like them ?? (sarcasm intended)
  8. Maybe Baldelli doesn't use the "B" (or "C") team line-up and Mahle goes 7 tomorrow, only needing Duran and Lopez (or Lopez and Duran, order doesn't matter). I think Gray would have had a longer leash if it was 6-0 instead of 3-0. Fulmer was getting loose when it was 3-0, so use him or lose him anyway for tomorrow. Would definitely have rather seen Pagan instead with a 6-0 lead.
  9. Agreed, There may be some that will say he is paid to drive in runs, hit HR's, etc..., not to bunt. However, the flip to this is that he is not being paid to go 0 - August. Maybe he rushed back from the IL, maybe not, but hitters need a good base to be successful and something seems wrong.
  10. I think I have watched this train wreck enough for awhile, no longer going prioritize watching/listening to this team work their way down the standings. Will still check in here periodically and check the box scores, but it's time for a break....
  11. Surprised to see Buxton in the line-up, couple that with Miranda starting and that means no Urshela. Cave for the current version of Kepler is probably a wash. At least Beckham isn't getting a Sunday/Getaway/Giveaway start....
  12. Today's game looms a little bigger than it would if they had won last last night, as 2 of 3 against the Angels is a must. The kid pitching for the Angels has bad numbers, but he's in a pattern of having a good start following a bad start, and his last start was a bad one. Plus he's left-handed. I am going to assume Buxton gets today off, but Correa needs to play as do both Miranda and Urshela. And, right-handed or not, Beckham needs to sit. Archer also needs to at least match his last start, as Duran and Lopez are both probably not available today, so the fewer pitchers used to, hopefully, get to Fulmer, the better.
  13. Angels announcers wondering if that ball hit off of Ursela's glove....
  14. And again I believe we see how much Buxton's knee is hurting, in the past I don't think the 3B has time to look the runner back AND get Buxton at first....
  15. Looked to me like he was stealing also. He also didn't touch second base on his way back to first, so there would have been a DP no matter what.
