    Someone give me a reason Smeltzer was allowed to face those last 2 RH hitters. Managerial malpractice. When you try to get more outs from your starter than you should, you often not only don't get those outs, you give up runs in the process.

    First of all, there aren't any noncrucial innings. Or few enough to not matter. But assuming there WERE such innings, I don't see how that changes the way he pitches.
