  1. "The pen wasn't terrible this game" says all you need to know. The pen gave up the tying and winning runs, and who knows how many Duffey might have eventually surrendered.
  2. Correa's contract includes a "limited no trade clause" in 2022, and a full no trade clause in 2023 and 24. I can't find it now, but I recall reading somewhere he can prohibit the Twins from trading him to 6 teams this year. But don't quote me on that https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/minnesota-twins/carlos-correa-14168/#:~:text=Carlos Correa signed a 3,a total salary of %2435%2C100%2C000.
  3. For the record, Stringer, Indiana Twin and Chief managed to get together in the 5th, witnessed Urshela's go ahead 3 run dong over a beverage (thanks Stringer!) and immediately agreed 6 runs wouldn’t be enough to win. Real geniuses, us three.
  4. For the record, Duffey HASN'T been "good" lately. Don't confuse "got three outs without giving up a run" with "good." For example, Duffey pitched a scoreless inning in Detroit, but he most certainly wasn't "good." He's got nothing.
  5. I hope Sano's 1st inning AB goes well tonight. Get him off on the right foot.
  6. Again...let's not exaggerate. Twins have faced 25 LH starters this season, Arraez started 9 of those. Better than 1 in 3. That's not "occasional." This is going to be part of the story. Rather than inventing reasons to stamp out any discussion, let's at least deal with reality. There's going to be questions. "Arraez never starts against LHers" isn't true and isn't going to end the discussion.
  7. My personal odds would make the Sox a small favorite to win the division. "The race isn't always to the swiftest, but that's the way to bet." I believe Chicago is far and away the most talented team in the ALC. I will say I hope they don't fire LaRussa, as I think he's partly responsible for their underperformance. I'd put the Twins a close 2nd, Cleveland a distant 3rd. Deadline acquisitions could and likely will have an effect on the race. Get some help, Falvine. What're we waiting for?? Some bullpen help a month ago and this division might already be decided.
  8. While in general I agree with this move, as I am a big believer in platoon splits, let's not exaggerate. Arraez has 9 starts vs LH starters this season. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=arraelu01&year=2022&t=b And I think it's unreasonable to call it a "non story." It's Luis Arraez, and Miguel Sano. It's going to be part of the story.
  9. Trivino. Get it done. Murphy would be great, but costly. Wouldn't mind a Trivino/Murphy package deal. Montas...meh. Road splits are worrisome, health issues, steep cost....look elsewhere.
  10. Semi-regular playing time at whose expense? Sano's ABs have to come at 1B or DH. Who sits? Miranda? Buxton's DH ABs? Arraez?
  11. It's an interesting theory. But FTR, I don't think they're adding "5-7 MPH. " More like 1-3.
  12. I guess all those WS titles are the proof in the pudding. Not to mention Oakland's enviable roster today.
  13. Quick review of Comerica: Really nice ballpark. Great sight lines, fairly close to the action. Minimal food options* in the ballpark proper, just endless repeats of the same few options, all blocking views from the concourses. Tough getting there, and leaving, but great built up area around the park for before/after. *Two really neat areas inside the park: a huge outdoor picnic area with a kid's ferris wheel behind HP with an actual working open pit BBQ that upgrades the food options by a million percent. There's also a kind of food court area with multiple good options and a merry go round. Best feature: the absute best seating I've ever seen, these are the last 10 rows or so of the lower bowl from 1st to 3rd. Spacious, comfy, table for every 2 seats, waiter service. Dunno what they cost, but from what I hear you can sneak into 1 by the 3rd inning or so.
  14. Well not really. We're comparing proven MLB history with anticipated MLB success, no?
  15. I don't agree such a conclusion is "very reasonable." I'd say it's complete speculation, which flies in the face of this very reasonable conclusion: most prospects don't end up being worth what you could have gotten for them. Got a Juan Soto? Ken Griffey Jr? Ronald Acuna Jr? A teenager tearing it up and quite obviously a couple levels above are competition? Don't trade that guy. Anything else? Listen to offers, and take good MLB talent every time. There'll be more prospects in your system in a month or a year. You'll have a draft soon where you'll be "thrilled" by your good fortune. Spending decades waiting for your minor leagues to win you a WS is ... how you spend decades without winning a WS.
  16. I'm impressed you know today which players will be needed to become legitimate contenders. Predicting next week is difficult in baseball, but here you are predicting 2024 and beyond! Amazing.
  17. That's not the point. Do you hate yourself, as well? Or Is it your contention he should shut down for the year? That he should have quit playing in April? If not, the "pain" is irrelevant. It's beside the point. It exists. Either way. The point is the timing of the injection. He must have done it in order to be on the field more, correct? Then why delay it, which cost him at least 2 games? Not to mention, If he's "playing in pain every day," why would he go to an exhibition game? For the record, players opt out of the ASG all the time. I understand being proud of a selection to the game. Anybody would be. But intentionally forgoing actual games? That's just wrong.
