  1. I'm not sure what the National League has to do with it, but yeah. If he gets few opportunities, then he can contribute by cashing a good percentage of the opportunities he gets, driving himself in, and getting on base a lot. Running the bases well. I fully understand there are many componants to a good offense. But at the end of the day. only scoring runs matters. And it's tough to consistently score runs if you don't have guys in the lineup who drive them in.
  2. Right. And some players take advantage of the opportunity, often, and some don't. OBP in an RBI situation is pretty overrated. The object of the game is to cross home plate. That doesn't happen very often unless someone drives in runs. At the end of the season, I'll take RBI as a contribution to winning games over any other offensive stat. Any. Other. Offensive. Stat.
  3. Not a good throw, but Arraez probably should have had that.
  4. Heh. Weak ass broken bat bloop FC from Urshela and 3 pitch K from Kepler. I'm going postal on the next person who tells me RBI are meaningless. And now we learn Kepler isn't even healthy enough to take the field. Then I ask again...WTF was Hamilton doing in the game, and why would you then PH Kepler for him? I was fully off the Rocco bandwagaon a few weeks ago, and remain fully there. He's not a very good manager, and the FO had nothing to do with those decisions today. Nothing.
  5. What a tough AB there, Carlos. We've got like a 3 man lineup, it'd be nice if you'd contribute for a change.
  6. 1. The Pitching Pipeline(tm) is, predictably IMO, the biggest disappointment. And unfortunately, I don't think ANYone will be touting it this offseason. 2. Buxton. A couple scintillating weeks to start the season, then the "100 game plan" which featured thoroughly unremarkable results, and then the seemingly inevitable trip to the IL, from which we may or may not see a return. 3. Falvine. Whether through poor decision making (Rogers trade) or poor luck, we're left with Nick Gordon hitting 4th or 5th, no starter seemingly capable of a 6 inning start, and question marks at more positions than not. 4. Everything else.
  7. 33 appearances, with 21 starts over 3 years, totalling 125.2 IP at a 4.94 ERA and 1.38 WHIP doesn't do it for you?
  8. Couldn't agree more. "Getting to the big leagues" means zilch towards winning. Every team needs 26 players, 28 in September. Every team is going to call up rookies on occasion. That's nothing to celebrate as a fan. Or at the least, a poor measure of organizational "success." Developing players that get to the big leagues, stick, and outperform others is the trick. "Success" is building players that win championships.
  9. Where do you think his most famous saying came from? "A Brad Penny save will be a Brad Penny burn."
  10. Someone tell me why Megill throws so many breaking balls. Somebody's computer is spitting out garbage.
  11. Yes. Yes he has. An enormous disappointment. He can still change that, but to date? Unquestionably.
