  1. Yeah, a guy like Whit Merrifield should be solid. But losing Salvador Perez won't help matters. He seems to always wear out the Twins for sure.
  2. I do like that the Twins are playing the White Sox and Marlins (albeit on the road) leading up to the trade deadline on July 31st. If they are in the race and can take 4 or 5 of those six games maybe Falvey & Co. will pull the trigger on some trades that can help down the stretch.
  3. The timing of when Sano comes back from a rehab assignment will be interesting. I wouldn't think they would bring him back to the active roster if he could only DH or be a bench bat for awhile (with Nelson Cruz already holding down the spot). Seems like they would want him to be able to play 3B with no limitations before he returns. Perhaps mid-May is a more realistic scenario?
  4. I still have high hopes for Andrew Bechtold. Had a really solid season at E-Town in 2017. True, he had an off year at the dish for the Kernels last year but he did start picking it up in the second half somewhat after an ice cold start. Also, he has a rocket for an arm. Believe that Cody had him pegged as one of his "breakout players" for '19 in the Twins Prospect Handbook. I tend to agree.
  5. Ryan Eades with another clean inning tonight with a couple K's. He's gonna pitch in the majors sometime this year isn't he?
  6. I've got dibs on Mike Morin. Has some MLB experience and he's been through this before. And that changeup.... just' sayin. Still a longshot but I'd give him the best chance on cracking the 25 heading north. Oh, and Chase De Jong? Sadly, he's been eliminated from contention almost before spring training has begun. Two walks and a jack today vs the O's.
  7. So, I can infer from this that Nick Gordon didn't add a lot of obvious strength over the offseason? Or at least not a lot of apparent weight. Was hoping he'd get stronger to avoid the late season swoons the last couple. But maybe he's "wiry strong" now! We'll find out I guess...
  8. Didn't help that the Twins were a man short in the bullpen in April and May when Addison Reed was overused. Tyler Kinley, and later Phil Hughes, were out there but hardly ever used. Certainly not in high leverage situations.
  9. True, there's always a risk when a prospect hasn't played above A-ball. But, the depth of the system....there's safety in numbers. Chances are better that some will will break through and be contributors, maybe even stars.
  10. Yeah, I tend to agree with this. It seems like shifts and xwOBA don't really mix. You could have a xwOBA of .360 but if you continually hit bullets right into the teeth of a shift, that's your own fault and not really "unlucky".
  11. Regarding Larnach... a .297/.373/.505 slash line at Cedar Rapids was pretty solid. The thing with Trevor is that he doesn't have that one or two elite tools that some of the other top prospects in baseball have. I guess I'd still have him in the top 5 prospects for the Twins.though.
  12. Well, there won't be much drama as to who the #1 TwinsDaily prospect will be. I guess the only intrigue is who will get to write up the story....Tom, Cody, Seth or Nick?
  13. Maybe his darkroom doubles as a weight room! Although, getting the barbells back on the rack in the dark might be a little tricky...
  14. Solid pictures of the cosmos, by the way! I especially like the one of the Milky Way hovering over the corn field.
  15. Interesting. As Jacob said in the post, the Twins were quite interested in him leading up to the 2017 MLB draft. Blayne Enlow was taken with the first pick of the 3rd round and then the Angels snapped up Pearson nine picks later. With the first pick in the 4th round the Twins grabbed Charlie Barnes. I still like the Barnes pick, but one wonders whether the Twins would have taken Pearson at 4-1 if he was still there. It's possible, I guess, since they didn't hesitate to trade for him when they had the chance.
  16. Great first blog post, Sabir! And I think you're right. The Twins didn't sign Martin Perez in a vacuum. Someone -- Josh Kalk? Wes Johnson? -- saw something on video with him and has an idea on some changes they would like to try. Time will tell if they are right.
  17. So if Javier starts out in EST for awhile, who starts the season at SS for the Kernels? Probably Michael Davis, the Texas Tech product?
  18. Good stuff, Seth. And good luck to Andro as he continues the journey.
  19. If a player's Twitter game was considered a 6th tool, Rooker would easily be the #1 prospect for the Twins! Highly enjoyable social media follow for those that are into that sort of thing.
  20. As Tom said, Rooker is agressive at the plate so I think it's more that he swings at pitches he shouldn't.
  21. Think you meant Gilberto Celestino and not Maciel. Celestino came over in the deal for Pressly. Maciel in the Eduardo Escobar trade with the D-Backs. Your point still stands - just wanted to correct the return.
