  1. I'm moving on from Odo and his 5 1/3 innings at 90 pitches. Way, way too many pitches per inning. Kills the bullpen.
  2. You know who's been playing really well the past 3 or 4 weeks? Andrew Bechtold. Have seen his name come up quite a bit lately on these recaps so I thought I'd do some digging: Since July 30th he's slashing .338/.423/.471 (.894). K% of 16.7 and a BB% of 12.8...solid numbers. wRC+ of 166. BABIP of .407 might be a little cautionary and you'd like to see the power numbers develop a little bit. But he is a strong defender and definitely trending in the right right direction as of late in the Florida State League, a pitcher's league no less.
  3. I like it. Just one or two top prospects given up for Minor. Not really that much else for Kennedy and Dyson. I guess I'd prefer to get a couple more relief arms, not just one... but with the prices required right now it probably ain't happening. This would work.
  4. I think Jeremy was just listing names that wouldn't tie up any payroll thru arbitration beyond next season. Believe Matthew Boyd has three seasons of arbitration coming up (potentially).
  5. Greg Holland is a righty. Can probably scratch that one from this particular list.
  6. What...no mention of Chris Speier or Pat Putnam from '84? Ha!
  7. As far as Arraez's proclivity for the long ball...have to remember this all started with the "juicy" baseballs at AAA and the major leagues. He never hit using those balls in the lower minors. Only stands to reason his HR rates will go up.
  8. Jordan Balazovic obviously gets this years' "Meteoric Rise Award". Next year at this time? I'm going Cole Sands. Top-15 at least. Like his future a lot (health permitting).
  9. Pass on Thor. Too injury prone as far as I'm concerned. How many starts will he miss over 2 1/2 years?
  10. This is so true. If you can't hit, you better have a multiple combination of strong throwing arm, speed or defensive chops. One of those alone is not going to cut it. Wish I could remember who said "If you can hit, they'll find a position for you". Thought it was someone fairly famous, but maybe it was just some random scout.
  11. Love Arraez and his pure hit tool. But I think Schoop is a respected, veteran leader in the clubhouse. He's scuffling a bit right now and his OBP will never be great, but he's a streaky power hitter and I'll bet we see more of that here soon.
  12. Could actually see a team like Arizona (among others) being buyers....and then sellers later.
  13. Correct. Could see Cave being a 3rd or 4th piece in a deal. Definitely not the headliner.
  14. Got me thinking... With so many teams still in wild card contention, and no August waiver trades anymore, I wonder if we don't see a bunch of "Jaime Garcia" deals in late June and early July? By that, I mean teams like Colorado, Texas, Arizona, etc... on the periphery of the playoff chase acquire some guys desperately trying to stay in it. Then, when inevitably a good share of those teams fall out of it by July 31st they'll re-sell those players by the deadline. Much like the Twins did with Garcia a couple years ago (albeit in a much more condensed time frame). Twins could pick up some of these re sales at 75 or 50 cents on the dollar.
  15. Enjoy the performances of these Twins prospects now. Have a feeling by the end of July there will be 4-7 less of them in the org as the search for bullpen help and a top-end rotation arm wrap up.
  16. Wonder what happened to Joe Record in Fort Myers. Been getting knocked around pretty good lately. Seem to remember him getting some votes for minor league relief pitcher of the month for April.
  17. For those that are curious, the five Blue Wahoo pitchers that Matt alluded to giving up at least one earned run are as follows: Ames - 1 run Jay (2) Hackimer (2) Ramirez (2) Stashak (1)
  18. Kimbrel, Will Smith, Marcus Stroman....and then let's fast forward to the ALDS.
  19. Agree. Both Larnach and Diaz have been great. No doubt Larnach is also in the mix for May. What puts Diaz just over the top for me is the incredible power surge - 10 HR's, and right around .700 slugging.
  20. Lewin Diaz....we are not worthy!! Slashing .305/.337./.695 (1.031) with 10 HR's for the month. Can you say "Twins Daily Minor League Hitter of the month for May"...
