  1. Not True! http://www.theangeldiaries.com/_thumbs/005/002/Clipart/Religion/Christianity/Afterlife/devil_lucifer_120141_tnb.png
  2. In keeping with the football theme: This years Twins pitching staff: They punted. Talk about obnoxious
  3. This just in from Jim Souhan: New Twins boss must have a nose for arms to fix this team. THANKS, JIM !!
  4. I'm in the same boat as you re: GM. If I'm the new PoBO, I'm not hanging onto too many people involved in the Twins baseball ops for the last several years. Especially not someone who's literally grownup in this organization. I'm not saying Antony is THE bad guy, but the Pohlad's are signalling change. Maybe keep Antony in a lesser, non-personnel position. Maybe... Anyone in a new position of any kind gets a few months to prove themselves. If the new PoBO doesn't workout in that time period, something has gone TERRIBLY wrong with that search firm. (with I'd find really, really hard to believe)
  5. Right On! If you're looking at a person who is NOT willing to make those types of trades, just bring back Terry Ryan.
  6. I vote for: sign both. I wonder if a combo of Alex as PoBO and Ben as GM would be a good mix. From what I'm reading: Alex: more of a gunslinger type, who's not afraid to make a deal. Has experience above GM level. Ben: experienced at building via draft and, presumably, developing those player.
  7. So, keep on doing things the Twins Way?? I think AA is exactly the "type of guy" that the Twins organization needs. Now, if he is "The Guy" is TBD.
  8. I think: [ stop laughing already! ] 1. Dozier should not be traded. Polanco's best defensive spot is 2nd, isn't nearly enough reason to trade a 35+ HR guy 2. I like Polanco's bat and am guessing he'll make the team next year as the INF Bench guy. 3. Dozier's defensive "decline" was partially due to the changing of players at SS. 4. IS Dozier tradeable? Do we know of any team asking?? Dozier stays.
  9. Didn't watch the whole game, but that was a pretty sweet swing that Buxton put on that homer. Ervin: Escape artist
  10. 196 posts, and the game doesn't start for another 4 hours. http://www.echineselearning.com/image/newsletter/kids/500xNxissue-goodjob.jpg.pagespeed.ic.VMWtzz4E3u.jpg
  11. Just read that this morning. I think calling up Buxton is a bad/terrible idea. Twins have Rosario for CF. Call up Palka or ABW. IMHO, Buxton been getting jerked around a little too much.
  12. According to this, Hughes will be ready by Spring Training: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/06/phil-hughes-shoulder-surgery-twins.html I haven't seen a more recent update. He also had a compression fracture on his left leg prior to that.
  13. A couple things on Dozier batting leadoff: 1. He says he likes hitting there. 2. There's been a shift away from the "traditional" batting lineup. First was a shift of the team's power hitter to the #3 position. Never heard a reason why, but getting that guy to the plate one more time per game works for me. If Dozier likes hitting there, and remains successful, then it makes even more sense to move further way from that traditional batting order and move a couple OBP guy's to the 8-9 spots.
  14. I would keep Santana. If you're all in on a rebuild ( shhhh, the rebuild has already started ) then you need a veteran presence to help guide the younger players. Ervin is already filling that role for the pitchers. I think Dozier is filling that role for position players. Aren't there 2 other veteran pitchers coming back next year? Hughes and somebody I can't think of now. If there are 3 veterans on the pitching staff, I'm OK with that. Room for Berrios and Duffy (or someone else). The offense is doing OK. More walks, better OPS, OBP and fewer K's would make the offense pretty special.
  15. So basically, if Twins pitchers didn't allow so many hits, the Twins fielders would play better defense, correct?
  16. Seriously, who could have predicted the incredibly lousy start of this season?? It was like Spring Training never happened..
  17. And yet he's still only 10 HR's away from 30. 2nd year, scouting reports completed. I'm not surprised by the decline, but thought he'd still have a BA closer to .260 and have an OPS closer to last season. The hammy injury on legs that big really slowed him down. His offensive stats between 3rd and RF are pretty compatible. Sano was a good trooper on the RF move. I give him big credit for that. And there was mention of "entitlement issues" [ Molitor's words, not mine ] that got Sano benched, briefly. I'm still a "buy" on Sano's future. And cowardly enough to stay out of the stats-guessing business :-)
  18. If a guy isn't making contact in a SSS, is the BABIP stat even relevant?
  19. I bet when Jim Pohlad started all this in motion, he was really only looking for a GM. Then he hired Korn Ferry and Korn Ferry advised him of the new baseball department structure being used today. Organizational change takes time. I think this is a big step in the right direction. I'd bet my cat on it.
  20. I like it. Moved up through the TB hierarchy, has been mentioned as an interview candidate last year and is about 33 yrs old. Used to be a writer for BR? Now that the Twins have chosen to restructure the front office with a new position of "presidential-level executive who will have authority over all baseball decisions yet be freed from the day-to-day particulars of the GM job." where would you want Bloom? The new position with the WAY TO LONG TITLE or GM?
