  1. So who's job is it to tell Buxton and Berrios that they have to sign an extension because the fan base mandates it?
  2. Who is the breakout hitter in the minors this year? Jose Miranda, Jermaine Palacios, Spencer Steer, Wander Javier??? All are having great seasons. And what about Ernie de la Trinidad and Eduard Julien? I'm really excited to see a lot of infielders on this list because the past several years have been all about the outfield prospects. I actually think that things are looking good for 2022 and beyond. If the major league team just sheds a lot of dead weight, the team will be improved.
  3. A lot of posters seem to dismiss Rooker as a lost cause. But I would prefer him hitting .200, hitting 20 home runs, and making $600K than Sano hitting .180, hitting 35 home runs, and making $12M. The savings of $11.4M could be put to good use elsewhere.
  4. It will set them back further than waiting until they walk away and the Twins get nothing?
  5. If the front office can sign Berrios between now and July 20th - great. If they can't trade him now for the best offer. His trade value will only diminish after that. The same for Buxton.
  6. As someone that spent over 20 years in Texa, you can skip Amarillo.
  7. That sounds to me like it probably violates some unwritten rule and he should expect a fastball in the ribs in his next at bat.?????
  8. If Berrios and Buxton sign extensions, that would be great. But that's not what I hear from the "experts" on MLB radio. They are saying that both are committed to testing the free agency market. If that is true, the front office has to trade both of them in July.
  9. I think Shoemaker's appearance was the prelude to a DFA. Cue the cheerleading squad: He can't start! He can't finish! DFA! DFA! DFA! Go Twins
  10. Buxton reminds me of a kid the Minneapolis Millers had for a brief time in 1951. If I remember correctly, his name was Willie Mays.
  11. Well said Captain Obvious! If I lost 80 pounds, I wouldn't be fat. If Arraez were two feet taller, he could play for the Timberwolves.
  12. All you need to do is find a local businessman with a net worth with three commas (that's billions for those who are wondering), a passion for baseball, and a willingness to let others do all the "baseball stuff." There should be a bunch of them in the Twin Cities to pick from, right?
  13. Maybe you should play Strat-O-Matic Baseball. It's all about statistics and probability, but very little about real life.
  14. The Rays have only gotten 3 home runs from their first basemen. Package Cruz and Sano for some prospects (any prospects).
  15. A "strait" is a narrow body of water between two or more segments of land. Perhaps you meant "straight"???
  16. I would still prefer a ball that is hit only 50 MPH and falls in for a hit and scores a runner. And, yes, I'm 74 years old.
  17. milb.com says he's been hitting .256 for the past 15 days. Great to see.
  18. From the far distant Northeast (Maine), it is my understanding that there is an almost zero chance that either Berrios or Buxton sign any extension. If that is accurate, now is the time to try to trade them. Every day closer to free agency reduces their trade value. Beyond that, anyone "earning" over $1M a year should be available via trade if the return is acceptable.
  19. A big Twins rally in the 7th? A walk, a HBO, and another walk. That's a comeback rally???
  20. That would be two feet further back from the current 60 feet 6 inches.
  21. It would be nice if Sano could get his average up to .220 and strikeouts down to 40%.
  22. If anyone cares to read the original argument of this thread, it says that the Twins have attempted over the past two years to get Berries and Buxton to sign extensions and have been turned down by the players and agents. The players are heading to free agency. If this assumption is true then the Twins really have no choice but to trade them this year at or before the trade deadline. Losing both after 2022 with nothing in return would be a disaster. In my opinion, the trades would return far more this year (with one and a half years of control and time to work on extensions) than next year. So it comes back around to the original comment of give the players until the end of June to sign extensions or ship them out for the best packages.
