  1. Giolito has been bad, but his ERA is not 75.27 as shown in the write-up...?? Pitching matchup tomorrow: On Sunday at 1:10 pm CST, Dylan Bundy (7-6, 4.53 ERA) will hope to help the Twins avoid the sweep against White Sox RHP Lucas Giolito (10-8, 75.27 ERA) I watched the game thru the first 4 Chicago batters. Glad there was a good college football match-up to watch. Turned it back and saw it was 13-0 and I knew I made the right choice not to watch...
  2. I believe this is accurate especially since the lineup last night included Royal's regulars Oliveras and Pasquantino who are on rehab assignments with the Storm Chasers. Balazovic's outing was certainly encouraging.
  3. Miranda has been a godsend offensively to a lineup that has often struggled to score runs. I know people downplay RBI, but he is tied for the team lead after not playing the first month and playing poorly once he arrived. This is driven by Miranda's .281 RISP average on a team that has an overall RISP of .249 which ranks 19th overall in all of MLB.
  4. Per MLB.com. https://www.mlb.com/news/gunnar-henderson-called-up-by-orioles Lots of teams possibly "missed" on Henderson as he was taken 42nd overall (the 1st pick of the 2nd round), including the Twins. Twice. The Twins took Cavaco and Wallner instead. Maybe Brooks Lee makes this miss hurt less, but maybe if the Twins had drafted Henderson they could have taken a top arm instead in 2022. And I know, the MLB is a HUGE crapshoot, but...
  5. FANTASTIC game for Gordon! His .509 WPA for the game might be the highest for a Twins player in any game this season. Nice to see the Twins get some value out of the high pick they invested in Gordon - especially when players like Aaron Nola, Trea Turner and Matt Chapman were taken after him. Of course, that could be said of most players.
  6. Woods-Richardson is having an OK year IMO. Martin has not panned out yet, but Berrios is not providing what Toronto expected either...
  7. Excellent article and discussion topic, but this line is VERY misleading... "On the flip side, there’s Emilio Pagan. Acquired from the San Diego Padres for Taylor Rogers just before Opening Day, " This trade was more than Pagan for Rogers. That said, the Twins were hoping that Pagan would replace some of what Rogers provided, and her certainly did not do that...
  8. Looks like Batting Practice Balazovic showed up again ?. Besides major injuries his performance is the most concerning thing about the minor league season to me thus far. At least he is getting some innings in. It is interesting that Texas started Leiter in AA. He certainly is taking his lumps there.
  9. If he can improve his control, sure. If not I agree with Pat that Sisk deserves a shot as he has been outstanding this season.
  10. It depends on why you were shutting him down. If he truly is not gonna hurt himself any further by playing then let him play. If he’s risking more serious injury by playing then shut him down. We’ll see where things are at in 10 days I guess.
  11. Tim Beckham and Jake Cave are two of only a few players that have me desiring for Sano to be back in the lineup… ?
  12. I feel Lopez should be higher. Like Mahle, the Twins gave up a lot to get him. They need him to combine with Duran to be a lock-down tandem at the back-end of the bullpen. If what happened in Anaheim last weekend repeats too often, this team has no shot at making the playoffs.
  13. Hard not to like the offense (finally) in a 9-0 win. I know it was the Royals, but I really loved the pitching - especially Gray attacking and Caleb Thielbar snuffing out any potential rally in the 7th.
  14. Louie looked great. The write-up failed to mention that he had a no-hitter thru 5 1/3. This song has a totally different meaning but Varland certainly brings the catchy Chorus (1:40 into the video) to mind. BTW - This song was very popular in the U.S. in the 1970's. It was played frequently on the radio, and reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US and sold a million-plus copies to earn a gold disk.
  15. Beckham would not be on the roster if Buxton, Kirilloff, Larnach, Garlick, Lewis and possibly Sano were not all injured. I also agree to give Palacios the shot over him at this point if it works in the lineup.
  16. While this is true, it was players hitting under .200 (Muncy and Gallo) who really hurt the Twins last night.
  17. Not that I want him to be injured, but the way Balazovic has pitched this season, I am kind of hoping that he is... Also - what is the latest on Martin. When his injury first happened it was reported as not too serious, but he has been out 6+ weeks...
  18. H*#l NO! The Guardians had the courage to DFA their Big Whiff even though he had options left. The Twins did not - yet.....
  19. That was quite the fall from grace for Reyes. Quite the statement by the Guardians as well as Reyes could have been optioned. The Guardians had the courage to DFA their Big Whiff while the Twins did not - yet... https://www.mlb.com/news/franmil-reyes-designated-for-assignment-by-guardians
  20. Sorry see Duffey go, but it was time. Was hopeful that Duffey had reignited some magic when we went on a stretch of 13 games from June 17 to July 26 where he did not give up a run. He did have a good run with the Twins, and I wish him the best in his future endeavors.
  21. If Balazovic is healthy, his struggles are VERY discouraging. If he is not, shame on the organization for continuing to trot him out there every 5 days so he can throw 3 innings of BP.
