  1. Interesting concept. When I was coaching HS JV in Texas I encouraged my centerfielder to play shallow. The varsity coach liked his centerfielder to play deep. I guess that is why he was the varsity coach and I was JV.
  2. They are who we thought they were! But, we didn't let them off the hook.
  3. Effing autocorrect, baked not naked. LOL! I bet everyone of you would have been dogging me if that happened at the game.
  4. Did I miss that the Twins have 2 Smeltzers on the team? Or is Delvin double listed on the bullpen chart? Really disappointed I wasn't naked to a crisp watching the Twins in Arlington last week. Sigh, it's good to have the Bombas back in action!
  5. Marwins versatility strikes again. Would love to see Kiriloff get an opportunity.
  6. To be the best you still have to beat the best. For me this season is all about how far the Twins can go towards a World Series Championship.
  7. If MLB is going to ho to a super short season I would suggest playing all games in the division and take the top 2 teams in each division into the playoffs. Seed according to plans then record. Top 2 division winners get a bye. 9 game series 3 game home stand 3 times first team to 5 wins takes the series. Go back to a traditional 7 game World Series.
  8. STUPID!!!! Please don't rewrite history or attempt to place your morals on the past. This both eradicates the truth of the past and sugarcoats the harsh reality that triple endured. There was only one perfect person. And he died on the cross 2 thousand years ago. Please stop with this politically corrupt nonsense!
  9. What? Noooooooo Bombo Rivera, Willie Norwood and Hosken Powell outfield? I remember Castino as a 3rd baseman. Memory could be fading! I would put Dan the man from Gladden in left field.
  10. Hey Jimbo, how about "Launch" for Larnach? Or "Apollo" for launching rockets to the moon?
  11. Arraez concerns me the least. Could Luis "regress" to a .300 hitter? Is that even regressing? His hand eye coordination and strike zone knowledge will continue to propel him to being a valuable member of the Twins.
  12. Falvey and company are looking very astute in their decision making prowess. Try finding a really bad decision. Not everything works out, but problem mistakes are tough to find.
  13. Anybody that is hitting over .300 is NOT light hitting. Arraez does not hit for power, but is nowhere near the Mendoza line. Luis is a player that seconds into the batter's box and challenges a pitcher to pitch. This is not the definition of a light hitter. The fella can grind 12 pitches in a single (pun intended) at bat.
  14. You can never be to good in a competition. Eff the options game. Best man goes north with the team.
  15. Ron Cey and Steve Garvey had a couple of solid years. I would include Gehrig and anybody because does it really matter who when paired with Lou! 9 of 12 you could also add Hank Aaron and Davy Johnson to the mix of duos. Both had 40 plus Big Flys in the early 70's. There was a 3rd fella on that team that went over 40 that year but I forget his name. Quite the trio of Big Fly production. The Twins could add Nelson Cruz for their 3 musketeers.
  16. And then I forget about Maeda! Nice one Junior. Yeesshh. Although the case could be made that he is throwing spaghetti as a starter.
  17. Throwing spaghetti at the wall and hoping some stick? Berrios is solid. Ordorizzi has a chance to be solid through 5 maybe 6 innings. I personally like and think Big Mike will be number 2 option by playoff time. Then start flinging spaghetti!
  18. Arraez is by no means a big fella, but I wouldn't call him slight, svelte, slim, or lithe. He is short. While not barrel chested he is slightly thick. I would say Ehire is slim and tall. In my opinion what makes Luis a premier hitter is his incredible hand eye quickness and coordination. I can see Luis hitting 10 plus Big Flys without sacrificing his plate presence. He is just difficult to throw the ball past with exceptional strike zone awareness.
  19. The big fella hitting big flies traveling big distances! I think his leather will be fine. Not in the class of Mauer but, not many are. The nuance of stepping away to get poor throws will come. Is Palonco ready to catch the 3-6-3 double play rocket?
  20. Brandon, I agree there is more than one way to skin that cat. Kansas City showed that a World Series Championship is possible with a deep bullpen. The problem I see with that approach is the Twins would need the equivalent of 3 closers for that to be an effective solution. I don't see 3 closers in the pen. I do trust this regime to try and find the answers though.
  21. In any endeavor winning it all should be the goal. Because, well, 1980 Olympic Hockey. When opportunity meets preparation glorious things can happen.
  22. Breaking my arm patting myself on the back, I wagered $$ in Las Vegas last year on the Twins to win the division. What a wild ride that was. Mad at myself I didn't wager the over win total. It looks like I will place the division championship wager again this year.
