  1. If the FO can’t sign either I’d encourage them to look into the trade market as well because there’s plenty of quality options. While it’s highly unlikely, perhaps Arenado or Rizzo could be options. Realistically, there’s also Matt Carpenter, Evan Longoria, and Kyle Seager. However, the option that intrigues me the most is Carlos Santana. With one year left on his contract, he’d definitely be a great stopgap for Kirilloff. Although I doubt Cleveland would as interested... Perhaps a 3 team trade?
  2. I get that we desperately need starting pitching, but the fact we’re pretty much one quality bat away from having the most dangerous lineup in the league (without cheating) really does make the idea of adding an elite bat like Donaldson for 1-2 years very interesting. However, if that limits our capacity to add quality starting pitching then I’m not opposed to bringing back Cron, although I’d also be interested in Maikel Franco and Jurickson Profar as well; both which are non-tender candidates. Although, Howie Kendrick would be the ideal signing given that both Lewis and Kirilloff are nearing their ML debuts.
  3. You may be right, but what other options do we really have besides Pomeranz? Diekman?? Cingrani??? I’m at least intrigued by the idea of Perez in the bullpen. If only Tony Watson remained a FA, he would’ve been an ideal fit...
  4. Twins should seriously consider bringing Perez back as a reliever, even if it means slightly overpaying because he’s definitely got the potential to put up similar numbers that Pomeranz did for the Brewers. And given how Hildenberger and Busenitz turned out, I still don’t really see Littell or Stashak as legitimate RHP bullpen options for a team with WS aspirations. Meaning I wouldn’t even want to bring in Pomeranz on a 2yr/$16M (MLBTR prediction), but I’d rather bring in consistent veteran contributors like Romo and Rondon (in addition to LHP Perez) on really cheap deals for extra security for our decent, but fragile bullpen.
  5. They may not be premium prospects like Kirilloff and Lewis, but I’m confident that Cave, Gordon, and Rooker will all be discussed frequently in trade talks this offseason.
  6. Betts has one more season until free agency, no need to make a trade. Just give Buxton one more season to truly establish himself. If he fails, go all in on Betts.
  7. I think I worded that incorrectly, I meant I think that the offer I proposed might be right around what it would take to get a deal done. However, I don’t disagree that that might be an overpayment, although I think Alcantara’s potential is worth overpaying for. I mean, he is a first time all-star with 5 years of control left... Personally, if all it took was Duran, I’d seriously think about pulling the trigger; leaving Gordon and Rooker for another trade (maybe another starter).
  8. A package of Gordon, Duran, and Rooker sounds like a decent starting point. Marlins get a younger replacement for Alcantara, that probably fits better with their timeline of contention, and two potential everyday players for the right side of their infield. Probably could add a lottery ticket like Sands to the deal, but maybe they’d want more certainty in a young bullpen arm like Littell.
  9. If the Marlins fail to sign either (which is likely), there’s atleast a possibility of them going down this route and I think the Twins are right team for them to pair up with given all the quality depth that’s present in the upper levels of our minor league system. Like they’ve shown with the Gallen/Chisholm and Richards/Sanchez trades, it’s clear that they’re not afraid of giving up young ML talent (like Alcantara) if they believe it’s in the best interests of their future plans. While I’m sure he wouldn’t be the centerpiece (either Larnach or Duran), I could see Miami having a lot of interest in Gordon. And since they’re in search of competent bats, Cave and Rooker could be targets as well.
  10. A chance at Betts is the only scenario where I’d even consider dealing Buxton, although it’s still unlikely. However, I do think Boston is the right team to pair up with for a trade, but ultimately I don’t think Betts is the best fit given our dire need for starting pitching and the fact that the FO has stated that they’re looking for “impact pitching.” If it weren’t for Price’s price tag I’d definitely be interested in aquiring him, but since that’s not the case and he’s starting to show some age I’d encourage the FO to look into making an offer for Eduardo Rodriguez. Coming off a breakout season, he’s positioned himself as the 3rd best left handed starter on the market (behind Ray and MadBum) and still has 2 years on control left. The FO has more than enough prospects to deal from, all they got to do is make the right offer. Given the expectation that Betts will leave (or be traded), I’m guessing either AK or Larnach will have to be the center piece of a much larger package that could include Thorpe, Gordon, and Enlow.
  11. If it’s truly one more year, sure why not. If not, Porcello and Hamels would be just as good, if not better, stopgaps for Graterol and Balazovic.
  12. Honestly, I don’t think the FO really needs to do anything too drastic (like an Iglesias trade) to turn our bullpen into one of the league’s best. No trades or gambles, just 3 simple signings. CL- Will Smith* Taylor Rogers Hector Rondon* Tyler Duffey Sergio Romo* Trevor May - - Depth: Jorge Alcala Fernando Romero Zack Littell Cody Stashak Lewis Thorpe Matt Wisler
  13. Hopefully we come away from the offseason with one of Wheeler or Bumgarner, but if we fail to land either I think this could be a decent backup plan. Jose Berrios ($5.4M) Dallas Keuchel (3yr/$13M) Jake Odorizzi ($17.8M) Michael Pineda (1yr/$12M) Rick Porcello (1yr/$11M)
  14. I’d probably go with Wheeler and then sign Keuchel. However, if the FO can’t land either MadBum or Wheeler I’d definitely be looking into acquiring Ray or E-Rod.
  15. While a healthy Price would be a significant improvment in comparison to Perez, $32M for 3 years is just way too expensive. Besides, the FO also has other areas of need to address (the rest of the rotation, 1B, and the bullpen). I'd much rather have E-Rod, even if we have to give up a couple of a top prospects to get him (I'm guessing Duran/Larnach).
  16. I mean, what if they trade Lindor to the Dodgers?? Then they’d have no good reason to keep Santana around... Also, if a direct salary dump wouldn’t do it, perhaps a 3 team trade??
  17. An EE signing may sound enticing, but Kendrick really does seem like the best fit for the Twins at 1B compared to the other FA options. However, before pursuing Kendrick I really hope the FO does there due diligence to see if Carlos Santana is available. I get that Cleveland still may want to compete for the division in 2020, but perhaps not having to pay the rest of his contract ($20M) could convince them.
  18. Why complicate things with a Rendon signing? Our main priority should be our entire pitching staff, especially the rotation. If FO really wants to improve a home run record setting lineup, perhaps they should look into making a deal with Cleveland for Carlos Santana since we got an opening at 1B.
  19. Rondon has been a reliable option for almost his entire career, so I really don’t get how he’d be an “under the radar” option... I get that he’s no Will Smith, but his consistency should make him one of the more sought after relief arms on the FA market and should be a priority for the Twins.
  20. I wouldn’t complain if we got Diekman since he’s got potential, but I’d much rather have Smith or Watson.
  21. Agreed, we definitely need another left handed presence in the bullpen besides Rogers. Although, I’m not a fan of just handing that role to Thorpe or Smeltzer. While Will Smith would be an ideal addition, I’m guessing we’re gonna have to settle for Tony Watson. On top of that, I’m really hoping the FO goes after a traditional closer like Edwin Diaz or Ken Giles so that Rogers has more high leverage opportunities.
  22. Phillies might non-tender Makiel Franco so perhaps he could split time with Sano at 3B.
  23. In the short term (2020-21) I think this would be the best route for the team to take. However, I do envision a Lewis/Polanco duo up the middle at some point.
  24. Not sure if Boston is even interested in shopping him, but perhaps Eduardo Rodriguez could be an option, especially with the possibility of Betts and Martinez both leaving in the offseason.
