  1. Nope, that’d be irresponsible. I’m much more interested in Alcantara, Marquez, and Rodriguez, all of which have more than 1 season of control left on teams that could very likely be sellers before the all star game.
  2. While the addition of Maeda is definitely going to help us win more games, looking ahead 7 months it’s I think it’s pretty fair to assume that we’re eventually going to face the Yankees in the postseason and having Berrios, Odorizzi, and Maeda go up against Cole, Severino, and Paxton (or Tanaka) doesn’t spark a whole lot of confidence regardless of our offense. Meaning, if the FO really wants to at the very least win a postseason series it’s important that Maeda isn’t the “impact pitcher.” If so, we could be in big trouble. After establishing themselves as a WS contending team last season, I now fully expect the Twins FO to make an even bigger move at the deadline for a #1-2 starter; headlined by either Larnach or Kirilloff.
  3. I know it’s probably someone less talented and less divisive, but man would it be interesting if it was Yadier Alvarez.
  4. Especially after dealing Graterol, as far I’m concerned Cavaco is trade bait now. So here’s to hoping he has a good year!!!
  5. To each his own I guess, but was I really necessary to include a potential 2020 difference maker like Graterol? Was there even a chance they would’ve accepted Cavaco (or Rooker) + other prospects?? I mean, I thought the whole point of dealing Maeda was to shed his contract to stay under the luxury tax threshold, you’d think the Twins FO would’ve had more leverage in which prospects would be headed to Los Angeles. My point is that if the Twins FO wanted to reasonably upgrade the rotation they didn’t need to trade Graterol. In fact, we could’ve done far better than Maeda if we were willing to deal Larnach.
  6. It’s not that I think Maeda is a bad pitcher, he will definitely help us. However, how can we be truly playing for 2020 when we just gave a better team a better shot at winning the WS in 2020??
  7. While we may win the division with this move (maybe even win a postseason series), I’m starting to feel as though we may have bolstered the Dodger’s 2020 WS chances even more (something we’re trying to accomplish too, right?). Taking Jansen’s decline and Kelly’s inconsistencies into consideration, the addition of Graterol could play a huge role in a potential Dodgers WS win.
  8. If we thought it was necessary to interject ourselves in the deal because there were no other viable starting options beyond Taijuan Walker’s caliber, now what??
  9. Assuming Boston has moved on from Graterol, I think Enlow and Alcala makes more sense, although if was Bloom I’d still be pushing for Gonsolin of the Dodgers.
  10. Why aren’t the Dodgers offering Gonsolin?? Better than losing May, Gray, or Urias. If anything, the only reason the Twins were even included was due to the Dodger’s reluctance give up fair prospect value. Twins should pull out and pursue a separate deal for Maeda.
  11. Why the hell did the FO feel it was necessary interjecting themselves in this trade?? I mean, if we were planning on trading Graterol all along I’m certain there were better fits around the league than a damn #3 starter. And if not, what’s wrong with signing Walker and retaining a potential relief ace?? I mean, remember when we gave away Anderson for nothing, and don’t forget about the Pressly deal either!!!
  12. Interestingly enough, the Marlins just dfa’d two left handed relievers with potential, perhaps this a chance for the Twins FO to even the score.
  13. After looking through the 40 man roster and the non-roster invitees I can tell the bullpen battle in camp is going to be really interesting this spring. And after seeing Nick Anderson turn into a relief ace last season, I’m really hoping we at least get a glimpse of what Jake Reed can do in the big league level before shipping him off to another team. I mean, imagine if we never made the Pressly and Anderson trades...
  14. I got no complaints about Chacin, especially on a minor league deal, although I still would’ve preferred any of Walker, Cashner, and Sanchez. Furthermore, has anyone noticed that Cody Allen has yet to be signed? Would it be worth it to sign him and Matt Harvey to minor league deals to finish off the offseason??
  15. Interested in Musgrove’s potential, although I think that organization is counting on him to lead the team, especially after a very disappointing 2019. When it comes to Archer, I think he could be had today although I’m guessing the Twins FO is going to wait until the deadline to actually make a move on him.
  16. All we need is one more starter and I don’t care if it’s Walker or Cashner, but we need one more. However, if the FO is still keen on adding an “impact starter,” then they should start being a little more aggressive because there’s plenty of teams to deal with, although the 3 teams that’d I’d consider the most are the Marlins, Red Sox, or Pirates. Marlins: Miami should be our prime target given their starting pitcher depth and the strong likelihood of them once again finishing last in the NL East. If you remember, earlier in the offseason it seemed as though there was going to be a deal revolving around Cave and Hernandez, although with the Dickerson signing that now seems unlikely. However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a deal to be had whether it’s for Hernandez, Alcantara, or Smith. Red Sox: I understand that the headlines have been all over a Betts/Price package, but what about an E-Rod/Price package instead?? Then perhaps Boston would be able to afford Betts and we’d get two legitimate impact pitchers. If not, there’s always Eovaldi; who I think could flourish under Wes’ tutelage. Pirates: After the Marte trade, it seems like Cherington is in search of lower level prospects which should definitely be appealing to the Twins. The options we have to choose from are either Archer or Musgrove, and both seem to be capable of far more than what’s been shown in Pittsburgh.
  17. If not Pittsburgh, Miami would be another ideal trade partner.
  18. I understand Dobnak’s become somewhat of a fan favorite, but I got a feeling that if he proves himself as even a league average starter he could possibly find himself included in a deal for a frontline starter at the deadline. Honestly, I could see the same thing possibly happening to the likes of Astudillo and Cave as well.
  19. Instead of overpaying for Alcantara (who I’m a fan of by the way), I believe the FO is much more likely to pursue a potential bargain like Nick Pivetta who was predicted by many last year to break out. Perhaps all he needs is a different approach with the help of Wes and change of scenery. With hopes of winning the NL East, the Phillies have fallen short of the WC two years in a row meaning it’s unlikely they’re gonna want to waste any more time on tapping into Pivetta’s uncertain potential after bringing in Gregorius, Wheeler, and Girardi along with everyone else that they brought in last offseason. Simply put, I believe there is a sense of urgency in Philly right now and instead of rolling with Pivetta perhaps they could turn him into more pitching depth in form of Littell, Dobnak, and Harper. Furthermore, I also suspect the Phillies FO might also be very interested in Astudillo’s bat and versatility as Realmuto’s backup instead of Knapp; who could also be apart of the deal.
  20. Sanchez and Walker may be the most interesting options, but Cashner to me seems like the most dependable option, yet still has some upside to tap into.
  21. If he’s going to be in the bullpen, I’d like to see him pitch around 70-80 innings to build up some sort of workload. And with Berrios and Pineda as the only starters under contract next season, perhaps ST 2021 would be the best time to transition him back to the rotation.
  22. Realistically, my list would be: 1) Robbie Ray 2) Jon Gray 3) Chris Archer 4) Caleb Smith 5a) David Price 5b) Nathan Eovaldi Theoretically, if circumstances were to entirely play out in the Twins favor my list would be: 1) Eduardo Rodriguez 2) German Marquez 3) Noah Syndergaard 4) Charlie Morton 5a) Robbie Ray 5b) Yu Darvish
