  1. I would be shocked if Miguel Sano ever plays another inning at 3B
  2. Ezra Sutton is a legitimate Hall of Fame candidate from that pioneer era. Ezra Sutton – Society for American Baseball Research (sabr.org)
  3. Sano will clearly have negative trade value but there are a lot of expensive pitchers who also have negative trade value and would be more valuable to the Twins this year.
  4. I think he's behind Spencer Steer on the depth chart. Maybe they could get David Price from the Dodgers in return for Sano. That would save the Dodgers like $10M due to the luxury tax.
  5. Nick Gordon and to a lesser extent Gio Urshela, with Arraez getting more starts at 3B. Versus lefties you want Miranda and Urshela in the lineup. I don't fault the Twins for hoarding depth considering how many injured players they have had so far.
  6. I know it's a one year deal. The Twins are in first place, they shouldn't trade starting players away just because they will be free agents next season. They should try to win in the only season they'll have the best SS in the history of the franchise under contract. It's a miracle they have him at all. Don't throw that away.
  7. I'm going to guess this gets brought up every couple weeks until the trade deadline
  8. Yes. Soto was brought up to sit on the bench. If Kirilloff is promoted he will play every day.
  9. Arraez reminds me more of a different player from the 1980's - Wade Boggs. Boggs was also a high average, low power player without speed.
  10. Would you trade Jack Morris in 1991?
  11. Can't these articles wait until the offseason? Enjoy watching a first place team. Worry about next season later.
  12. Twins fans are allowed to boo any Yankee at any time
  13. That's really the problem here. Almost no bullpen can give you 6 shutdown innings, plus they'll need at least 9 more innings from them in the next 2 games. I think I would have pitched Pagan instead of Duffey there but that still means they need someone to pitch at least one more inning and they still lose the game 5-4.
  14. I agree with this. I'm especially perplexed why he thought it was a good idea to use Duffey in back-to-back games.
  15. Cole Sands, Dylan Bundy and Chris Archer isn't going to get it done as a playoff rotation.
  16. Noah Syndergaard could be available at the deadline. He hasn't been worth his $21M contract but he's been competent. It shouldn't take a big name prospect to acquire him.
  17. The injuries aren't generally long term but Winder's shoulder is a nagging injury that has limited him his entire career. They're also sure to have more injuries as the season continues. Dobnak might not pitch again in the big leagues - he's been out for nearly a year with a finger ligament injury. Maeda might not be 100% when he returns and he's sure to be innings-limited. Smeltzer has dealt with a number of injuries over his career. A rental on an expiring contract (like Kyle Gibson or Drew Smyly) would be a welcome upgrade on Bundy.
  18. Ryan, Gray, Ober, Winder, Paddack, Maeda and Dobnak are on the IL. That's an entire rotation plus 2 spots. We are one turn through the rotation away from Dylan Bundy and Chris Archer leading the team in innings pitched. Smeltzer has been great so far but they're in desperate need of another starter to keep this division lead.
  19. I think Kirilloff probably would have received the call instead of Contreras against the Blue Jays but he was sent back to St. Paul because he also couldn't enter Canada.
  20. Not really. I'd rather have Austin Martin in my farm system and get a middle reliever some other way. The league may be down on him but high end talent is worth taking a chance on. If he's ready to take Jorge Polanco's job in 2024 that's soon enough.
  21. Then you're not going to get much in return for him trading him now. Those are your options - trade him for a relief pitcher or keep him and see if he can tap into his talent.
