  1. I think the Twins best 3 infielders are Correa, Lewis and Lee which pushes Miranda and/or Julien to 1B and Martin to the outfield. I'm not sure Correa is going to be a better SS than Lee for much longer. I need to see some reps but usually you bet on the young player at SS and move the older player to 3B. Lee might start at 2B - he has range and he's smart - because Lewis and his twice repaired ACL makes more sense at 3B. These are good problems to have.
  2. That would be a "rebroadcast, retransmission, or account of this game, without the expressed written consent of Major League Baseball"
  3. In hindsight it looks ridiculous that Campanella spent any time in the minor leagues at all. He was an estabilished Negro League star with 3 All-Star game appearances. His statistics agree that he was not challenged at those levels. What a waste of over 2 seasons of his short career.
  4. Caleb Thielbar has been a great comeback story. He should be very proud of what he has accomplished. Still, time eventually wins with everyone and the organization should be ready to cut him loose if his production slips.
  5. If he's behind Randy Dobnak on a depth chart his chances of an MLB career are very slim. Balazovic hasn't had a good season since 2019 in A-ball. He was mediocre in Double-A in 2021 and horrible last year in AAA. The only reason to think he had a shot at MLB this year is the fact that he's on the 40-man roster.
  6. 7 years existing on a minor league baseball player's paycheck is going to eat up a $500,000 bonus.
  7. At this point I think they'd be happy to take the $100,000 for the Rule 5 claim.
  8. Draft picks go bust all the time. The Twins got Wallner, Steer, Canterino, Headrick, Julien and Varland out of the 2019 draft which more than makes up for Cavaco. 2020 was a small draft but Raya makes up for missing on Sabato. I think they deserve some slack drafting based on a month's worth of data in 2020.
  9. If you look at his college numbers you wouldn't predict 140 strikeouts a season but that's what he's done in the minors.
  10. Was hoping for more Sunshine Superman in the article. Husker Du Sunshine Superman - YouTube
  11. I've seen people say we don't want to put Canterino or Balazovic on the 60 day IL because we shouldn't pay a minor leaguer a major league salary to sit on the injured list. Isn't that exactly what they would be doing with Royce Lewis? Wouldn't it be even worse because they would be burning service time on their best prospect when they could option Lewis and burn service time on the older prospect Canterino (or the least valuable prospect Balazovic) instead? Isn't the service time more important than the $500,000 difference in pay?
  12. I see the battle for the last roster spot between Larnach and Kirilloff. Celestino is already penciled in at AAA. Solano is an adequate backup but I don't know how he fits into the lineup. He doesn't do anything better than someone else already on the roster.
  13. They're sharing 48% of revenue now. Conveniently, that's about the same revenue provided by TV broadcasting. They could decide to pool all the TV revenue and not pool the other revenue sources and get to nearly the same revenue sharing percentage.
  14. The Cubs are broadcast by a joint venture between the team and Sinclair so they are probably also affected. AT&T is rumored to want out of their contracts - that adds Colorado, Houston, Pittsburgh and Seattle. The Yankees and Blue Jays already control their streaming rights because they own their RSN. MASN is a joint venture between the Orioles and Nationals which brings us up to 23 teams where MLB could negotiate control. I think everyone else deals with Comcast or a joint venture with Comcast.
  15. My rebound pick is Matt Canterino. Hoping he comes back from ligament replacement surgery strong in September.
  16. Greinke didn't strike out 100 last year. It will probably take until 2024 for him to make it into that club.
