  1. I liked the Larnach pick, hated the other 2. IMO Larnach is only that will be a MLB player and this is essentially a make or break year for him. Hope he forces his way on the roster at some point.
  2. Sabato and Cavaco were terrible 1st round picks. At least they look like they got last years pick right...
  3. I want to see a whole season healthy from him before I would do anything. still 5 years of control after this one, it wouldn't cost that much more than doing it now. He still has a lot to prove IMO.
  4. because analytics says he has a great spin rate, yada yada yada....
  5. Well, if the FO sticks with their "no 3rd time through the order" philosophy, the bullpen with be rode hard and put up wet again this year. I don't see how that doesn't end badly.
  6. This is from the OP. "Why? Because the team did not make any statement on his status on a day-to-day basis."
  7. I'd be more than happy with an Arraez type hitter with better knees and better defense..
  8. Here's the problem with your argument. You are projecting your beliefs without proof. you say Buxton was spending hours a day preparing to try to play. yet you admit that the team never said that. So maybe he was and maybe he wasn't. Unless you were in the room with him, you are just guessing. Same with the Pohlad argument. Unless you were in the room with him and the other leaders, you have no idea what they said or were working or had agreed to. You claim people are filling in the blanks because they don't have all the information. you are doing the same thing just in the other direction. Again, unless you are physically there in the room with these people all the time, you are just guessing as to what's really going on.
  9. Makes you wonder how players used to play 140-150 games year after year.. If you limit Buxton to 80-90 games a year, his salary is the equivalent of 30 million. Not such a bargain then...
  10. it's not a big trade, but I don't really get this one. Oh well...So who gets cut off the 40 man?
  11. What makes you think the power numbers will go up? The way he swings I don't see it...
  12. I'm not a fan of this FO, but I love this trade, selling high on Arraez for good pitching.
  13. There's a blast from the past. Watched him throw 6 no hit innings at the Metrodome. lots of potential, very little of it realized,,,
  14. Sounds like you are telling me the FO screwed up 3 times, with Wisler, Graterol and Pressly.
  15. I'm just carrying on the family legacy of cheering for the Twins. I got a Twins cap from my great grandfather in 1971. I used to listen to the Twins in the 1970's on a crappy transistor radio tuned to 570 AM WNAX out of Yankton SD. I remember at night the signal would fade in and out, sometimes for several minutes and I would have to try to catch up on what had transpired during that time. I Played for the Twins in our Little league. I'm too invested to change to another team now, but they sure make it hard to keep going at times.
  16. Well, it wasn't in St Paul, it was in Des Moines, where I live. I have never noticed the gun to be fast but I guess it's possible. Striking out over a batter per inning is a pretty good trick if he only throws 90-91,
  17. When I saw SWR in august he was hitting 93-94 consistently and hit 95 a couple of times. I got to see Balazovic also and he was a mess. His delivery was way out of whack and the only thing he could throw for strikes was his fastball, with predictably bad results. hopefully he can get back on track.
  18. I got to see both of these guys in August in AAA. Both had good stuff. Varland's delivery seemed like it would be more repeatable, but both have a chance to be decent at the MLB level, IMO.
  19. Or 3. Find something else to do this summer. I bought a dragster, I'm going racing before I'm too old to do it.?
  20. Spot on. couldn't have said it better. They had to understand that things had changed this off season and adapt.
  21. Hockey does this, but they have a hard cap. i think the cap is like 83.5 million and teams have to spend around 60 million, I don't have the exact number.
  22. Ok, this might be a little nitpicky, but it drives me nuts when writers say a players has a breakout season, when they have a career year and then don't repeat it. To me a breakout season is one that the player continues to maintain or even improve on. One good season isn't a breakout, it's a fluke.
  23. I have to ask. Nick, does it get tiring to be the cheerleader for all the crap this front office does?
