    agreed, these young men are more than just good ball players and pretty smiles. I really like the ‘get to know ‘em’ articles and it would be great to see more of them as time goes by. Usually they are prospect articles. It would be nice to get a then and now perspective.

    3 solid seasons of nothing but “Caaaarrrl!” I mean I watch tv to escape reality, not relive my own personal hell of repeating my children’s names over and over again... Justified was absolutely fantastic, beginning to end. I’m just getting into Counterpart. Too early to vouch, but it’s starting well. JK Simmons is awesome

    my company has Microsoft Teams... so MSFT might be a good one too My kids elementary school just floated doing school via zoom because of that stupid a-hole from Osceola.... Zoom/slack and funeral homes look like good buys. Too bad I don’t have more cash on hand right now...

    looking at the proximity of which athletes are held in, I don’t see how fan-free games are a solution for game play. Fan-free baseball is the best public health measure (so we can all watch from our bunkers) but the proximity to which the players locker/dress, there’s no way to protect the players from each other, unless you quarantine two teams inside a baseball field and never move. Subjecting 26 players to airports 80 times dooms them to the virus. One player in the clubhouse....

    Very good OP! Agreed, Buxton is critical for this 2020 season. If he could get into the first standard of deviation on fastball whiff rate, that would be icing on the cake!

    how often do you hear of the underling or book keeper getting a slap on the wrist so that they will provide information that convicts the mafia crime boss? At least I see it in the movies... there’s gotta be something there. Look, if you want to adjudicate this as a fan, stop buying tickets. Stop clicking web pages. Separate yourself from Major League Baseball. I’m not happy about what happened with the team. The MLB should have blown that up. The players were absolutely complicit in that, but “took the plea deal”. It’s not the players fault that the jury was rigged. I’m willing to give MLB another shot, even with the stain.

    maybe a little. I mean this is a big deal and I’m mad at him too, but jeez... if you’re gonna ban everyone who breaks the rules of a competitive sport, your gonna run out of players. I bet there was some difficult conversations in that clubhouse. But when they’re done ya gotta move on (from a clubhouse/player perspective) That’s not to say I’d extend Marwin. I wouldn’t. Poor judgement plus declining play is not a recipe for extension. As players like Gordon or Blankenhorn start to push for big league playing time, it’ll be at the expense of Marwin. But I wouldn’t eat the last year of his contract out of spite.

    stock market downturn or economic downturn?The stock market is not the economy, and for a lot of people, you may not have missed the economic downturn. about 8 weeks ago Kai Ryssdal of Marketplace was asking the big economic minds if the Coronavirus could be the global boom economy’s Black Swan. They couldn’t answer him then, and still couldn’t answer him last week. I’m of the opinion that out metrics of what a “good economy” is, may be out of date. Inflation for instance, largely ignores healthcare spending and groceries, which are the two largest areas of consumer spend in the US. All this to say, i don’t think there is a clear answer at this point. We don’t know how or agree on how to measure...

    fair enough, his time at 2b last year may have been out of necessity. Arraez really came out of nowhere last year. Let’s see how he gets positioned this year.
