  1. Yes he deserves it. But what about Jake Cave - does he get another chance? Where? And has anyone seen Aaron Sabato 214/34-/386?? Wallner has definitely passed this first rounder.
  2. Minnesota Nice - give your neighbors a hand, let RP use their non-dominant arms so that they can surprise everyone when they switch gloves at the end of the year. It is a wonderful thing to see.
  3. Is this wishful thinking? Right now neither side has won this trade and only in MN would we want to make it look like we did. Until Martin and Richardson make it to the big leagues it does not mean anything. Will Berrios turn things around? Let's not congratulate ourselves until we really have something to brag about.
  4. At this point, any arm that can throw strikes should be immediately put on the MLB roster. This is really getting depressing.
  5. Not sure what the response is - one thing that we found out is why they have not used Thornburg - DFA? Who is next? With Thornburg going so bad wasn't there another arm we could have tried? Archer needs to go to the pen. 4 Innings is not a SP! But he is a good long reliever.
  6. The only question I have is who has a live arm that can come up and spend the rest of the year in the Twins BP - no matter what level they are at?
  7. What an adventure in venting this thread has been. Unfortunately it is justified. When Pagan came in my response was - NO! But who do you bring in. We used our only good RP already in the game and we have a mystery man wearing Thornburg jerseys but obviously not to be used under any circumstances. I still think we should bring up healthy minor league arms and use them in the BP. Anything but another Pagan meltdown. I know we are not the only team struggling with BP , but teams seem to figure it out. How are the Yankees doing it? These are not names we all knew except for Chapman and he is out with an injury. It is desperate times and as much as everyone thinks third time through the lineup is bad, we need SP to go 7 - 9 (a complete game - never).
  8. I am not saying we dump lots of money in the BP, but I do think we can invest more and better than what we have. I also think the majority of money goes to one more starter, My post is simply the fact that I like Correa, but to think he is worth more than what we are already paying him makes no sense to me.
  9. And that is because the bullpen doesn't mean anything. Just like tonight who cares just throw any arm out there
  10. highly subjective - was it Wes? We will never know. Is he responsible for Duffey failing this year? Or Pagan imploding?
  11. If he opts out - move on. Fill the pen and one more SP. If he stays I am happy, but its not my money.
  12. No - as soon as I saw Winder in your offer it was off the table - why send our Zac Gallen and a group of prospects for their Zac Gallen? And then you throw in Balazovic. This makes no sense to me. Let's plug them into our Archer and Bundy spots for next year and move on. o
  13. As this year's Miranda, he has really blossomed and looks ready, but remember that they did not bring up Miranda last year so probably won't bring up Steer this year - especially because there is no urgency unless an injury or a trade happens.
  14. Another terrific game. It's really a shame that Smeltzer had to lose his victory today but I really can't blame Rocco on that one. He's only got so many relief pictures to use. Which means of course at the front office is really guilty ones well that set up games like the first one today. What I really like is seeing Winder take charge the way he did today. He has to be part of the regular rotation he's earned it. I don't know who moves out and I don't know if they move anyone out, but more important they have to keep him going. And Smeltzer has to keep his spot too.
  15. After today's game I think you might want to edit your essay and remove Emilio from the list. Not sure who to put in, but Pagan is a disaster. I guess you can give me Moran over Pagan, but I think it is difficult to get past three RP at this point.
  16. I really enjoy these summaries - We are now at a point where the prospect list really means something. I look at Martin and think he needs to drop while Steer has to rise. The pitchers I like are either on the IL or just off it. Enlow and Henriquez look like pitchers who are dropping in the rankings, although I do not know who is next from the prospects that are not currently ranked. Miranda must be close to coming off the list because of MLB ABs. I am delighted that he has recovered from his weak start. Former prospect Larnach has now had two seasons start well and go south. I hope he can recover and get back on track. But from this list who comes up to pitch? Sands seems to win because everyone else is injured, too far down in their minors, or not performing. Who would you bring up?
  17. Duran! Then fingers crossed. This BP does not have another RP that deserves full trust.
  18. Nice reflection. I have always thought that judging coaches is almost impossible for those of us on the outside. We have now had a hitting coach and a pitching coach come in, impress us and leave. But the number of coaches is large and what they do and how effectively they do it is still a mystery that leaves Rocco taking the blame and credit for the rest of the team. Thanks for the insights.
  19. I have no idea - I know there are trade calculators out there that can measure value and some of these posts have done a really good job ranking prospects, but it really depends on the team we are trading with. Who do we want and who do they want? I know we have a glut of 2B, but so do many other teams - it seems like 1B and 2B and LF are the low ranking positions where players drop to if they do not have the talent to hold the premium positions. That makes trading our surplus less valuable. The other question I have based on the posts here - is why does it have to be a bad team we trade with. What about a good but flawed team that can use a Polanco/Kepler/throw in Sano/Urshela and have a nice surplus arm or two?

    500 HRs

Jorge Polanco - 273/333/446 14.2 WAR 7.7 WPA Max Kepler - 234/320/436 16.4 WAR 3.1 WPA Miguel Sano - 234/326/483 8 WAR 2.1 WPA Max and Miguel are pretty closely matched until fielding enters the WAR calculation. Over their career Jorge has averaged 2 WAR, Max a little more and Miguel has been a replacement player. I had to look at more that HRs since that is not my favorite stat. The reality is that we can package all three in a big trade and have someone ready to take their positions while we use a new and good SP.
  21. After a few hours I started to wonder what life is like in the pros versus the college ranks and how that might have affected him. How many more trips, how much time away from home did this cost him. As a person who travels over half the year I can say that there are times you wish for a little more home time, that good-byes are more difficult. Wes was not a professional pitcher, he did not develop with the lifestyle. Just speculating.
