  1. Thanks for this update. Only two twins shine - Arraez and Kepler which is not great for a team that wants to win. CF discussions about Buxton are getting old. Unless he miraculously gets so healthy he can play there everyday his potential does not matter. Gordon is shining at bat and in the field. Good for him. Polanco is a real disappointment. Let's hope he is healthy next year - right now even his trade value is way down. Sanchez improvement is still not good enough and Correa is good at SS, just not as elite as we had hoped.
  2. This, like the hitter, was an obvious and good choice. I just wish he did two innings instead of one to reduce the potential for lesser relievers to appear. He still wants to be a starter so let him stretch out. If you look at the other end of the pitching lineup, I notice Pagan's disappearance, but am not impressed with Lopez as the closer - like Karbo I move him to the end of the game. But how often can we use him? He has been in 49 games - 38% of the Twins games.
  3. Excellent choice - but he really did not have a lot of competition for the prize. If we pull things out this season, the series he has had will be a big reason.
  4. That is quite a list - Duffey, gone, Pagan missing in action, and now Lopez who has not impressed me as our designated closer. He has now blown 3 saves. He has a 3.09 ERA for us and a 1.371 whip as a Twin.
  5. Contreras continues to hit well and seemed like he was getting adjusted to the majors his last call up. I know they love Cave, ,but I would like him to get more opportunities.
  6. Extra inning games can get a lot more exciting if he is on second and steals third.
  7. Good night for the hitting prospects - not so great for the pitchers. And Ober and Dobnak are not blowing away the competition in their rehab.
  8. Good essay, but hard to add anything. I have wondered if the increased power might be part of a change in approach and if so I want the 338 hitter back.
  9. No - they did not manufacture a pitching prospect. I give all the credit to Varland and his tenacity. I do want to see him in the majors and like others in this post I look at his age and say if he is going to be a success it has to start now.
  10. He was a disappointment a long time ago. So I don't count him this year since I think I've given up on him
  11. They fought even though they were behind and thus it was a good game. No one goes undefeated. The pitching was okay, the hitting was okay, the fielding was okay. This one does not upset me. Now we carry this over to a Sox team that has not been playing that well and start moving to the top of the division. We will face another who is he pitcher in the next game and I am fine with that.
  12. This is a nothing move - the last few nights have shown what the Red Sox BP is like. It is not what we need.
  13. I have been high on Miranda since the beginning but have to admit that I wavered when he started so bad. Right now there is no one else I would prefer when someone is on base. I understand that the nation does not see him like we do. It the Twins were better he would get more spotlights. Which is better Duran or Miranda???? I cannot choose. Lacking one position is always going to hurt, but in the long run the only thing that matters is that he keeps hitting and holds up the middle of the order.
  14. That goes without saying - they prove that defense is still important. But I am afraid I think Archer needs to be called out. He cannot slide. If you listened to the post game last night Dan Gladden made it sound like Archer set us up to win - he was called out in a hurry. I enjoyed that - and it is worth listening to if you can. Even in a praise worthy game you have to evaluate all aspects.
  15. In a game this good it is hard to find a negative, but Archer does not deserve more starts. If Winder is ready I want to see him in that role. It was a nice opportunity and everyone hoped to see the old Archer, but we have a four inning starter and its getting old. Put him in the pen or DFA, he is not part of next year.
  16. I forgot to add Aaron Sabato - lots of HRs but 215/337 in AA - our former first rounder continues to fall behind Wallner who had the same profile, but has advanced with potential to get to MN>
  17. I think you hit the lowlights of expectations. In a different way I would add Winder because he made the show, he looked good and I expected so much more when he went down.
  18. I am not for Sanchez. I want something from Winder/Ober/Varland. We trusted a young Ryan, let's trust another young arm. Sanchez has a -0.8 WAR. That tells me how good he has been. I went to BR and his statistics do nothing for me. Yes we can trade him for Archer if we want the same results.
  19. The price we are paying Correa and the production he has given over the season - not just the last two series - have me wondering about the wisdom of the collective front offices, again. The frenzy over SS signing last year was amazing. Somehow Correa fell out and fell into our hands at the most exorbitant of short term contracts. Of course short team is better than long term - how many of those signed last year will stay at SS for the duration of their contracts? By the way, two are now playing 2B which is not supposed to be as costly a position. Right now Correa has the best seasonal Stats Correa 279/355/439/794 Although Corey Seagar might have an argument Corey Seagar 257/334/476/810. Trevor Story 228/290/423/712 and Semien 238/298/420/708 are both playing 2B. Tatis – injured and then suspended and Lindor 246/341/442/783 For comparison our in one door out the other SS Kiner-Falefa is 262/310/310/625 I don't care how MLB spends its funny money, but was this just a race for egos? It would be nice to have Correa back - despite his contract and he must be looking at the group that he will be mixed with the next round. So is a good SS really worth so much? I have to say none of these players look like they are on the HOF track to me, but then with their money they probably do not care.
  20. I love the streak, but who are these pitchers we are facing? I am amazed. I love the win, but I am confused by the Red Sox staff, but then they are last in their division. We faced rookie Bello, someone named Junis (SF), Tonight we get another, who's he, in Kutter Crawford, time to keep winning. Next we kick the White Sox while they are down and then we get to watch Aaron Judge.
  21. I will not judge this until the end of the season. What you have written at the end of the six game losing streak instead of the four game winning streak? Boston and SF both have worse records than we do. So for me I am celebrating the streak, but trying of perspective and it is hard to keep day to day. I do like your enthusiasm and positivity.
  22. We do not need another weak bat at the end of the lineup! I like speed, but so far Hamilton has not harnessed that or anything else. His line is too weak - 293 OBP for a non-power guy is not acceptable. 239 .293 .326 .619 His SB 371 (nice) CS 72 (not Nice). Still it is 84% which makes it valuable.
