  1. Twins win 102 games and tie Cleveland, necessitating a 1 game tie-breaker to decide the division champ with the loser getting the wild card. Rosario builds on last year and flirts with a .300 batting average. Buxton shows some pop in the bat and flirts with 20 home runs. Dozier is Dozier. Mauer shows all of us his return to form last year wasn't a fluke and he is in the hunt for another batting title.
  2. Yawn. Another season of baseball. Just kidding. With any luck, I'll be able to watch some of the game at work. I think I'll try to plan a scripting project during game time so I'll be in front of my computer during the game.
  3. During the winter, I believe colons and semi-colons flock together and head south.
  4. Mr. Froemming: Congratulations, I'm sorry to hear that. Seriously, though, excellent news.
  5. I have to admit, I was not excited about Hughes or Sanchez. I suspect the FO wasn't really excited about either either.
  6. I believe the FO knows it has some arms that need to debut at the MLB level over the next year or so which probably factored into their approach this off-season.
  7. I thought Lynn was one who would cost a draft pick. Thank you for confirming that. I had no idea Lynn's numbers were so pedestrian. Seems like the Twins should just wait until they can debut some more pitching from the minors.
  8. Who will I miss and blame most on organizational incompetence? Anyone on the list who succeeds. I'm a fan and that's what fans do.

  11. I sort of think last year was "check out the position players" and this year is "let's look at the arms." I'm pretty sure the Twins have an idea of where their weaknesses are at the position player level, but, they've got some intriguing arms that need a look at the MLB level. I'm hoping for a fun year, which means a year in which the Twins are competitive.
  12. On the up side, this signing should be great fodder for the TD faithful.
  13. Show of hands! How many people thought the Colon signing was a great idea last year? Now, how many people think the Sanchez signing is a great idea this year? Anyway, this signing moves the needle. Of course, when the gauge starts at queasy and ends at vomit, well...
  14. The Cubs offered a good contract and Darvish has the chance to play for Joe Maddon on a team that won the World Series just a couple of years ago. I have to believe players looks for more than just dollars when it comes to signing a contract.
  15. I believe it was last year Morris made a comment something like, "If Kirby doesn't make the catch the night before, I wouldn't have bragging rights today." I thought that was a great remark by someone who turned in the single greatest pitching performance I've ever seen.
  16. If the Twins are uninterested in using internal options, I have to believe Gomez would be a great addition. Plus, I've always enjoyed Gomez. He may be a bit aggravating, but it always appeared that he was having fun when playing.
  17. The joker in the deck when it comes to the pitching staff is the new pitching coach. According the the Pioneer Press, Alston is all about the fastball. Which, if I'm reading correctly, could really benefit Mejia. See here: https://www.twincities.com/2017/10/26/twins-new-pitching-coach-is-garvin-alston/
