  1. I'm predicting that Kirilloff is healthy. He can take days off against tough LH's with Farmer at 3B and Miranda at 1B on those days. I also predict that Urshela will not put up the numbers he did in 2022 again this year. We'll see who is right after the 2023 season is done. Kepler could still be traded like Rogers was just before last year. Also, something may happen when we can put Paddack and Lewis on the 60 day IL (maybe another team needs to put someone on the 60 day to open up a spot for Kepler - maybe Kepler and Pagan for a better relief pitcher).
  2. Give me a pitcher who throws 98, strikes out a lot of batters, doesn't walk many, and doesn't get injured - David Festa. Certainly can dream about the potential of Mercedes and Emma Rodriguez roaming the Twins OF and being 5 tool players.
  3. He was only in St. Paul at the end of the year because the Saints needed a player at that position and Wichita was in the playoffs. Mikey Perez did the same thing in mid-season. Shuffield played well but he will probably start the season at High A.
  4. Yea, where is Camargo? Seemingly a good defensive catcher who actually plays there more than other positions and has good pop to his bat.
  5. We can really put together a great defense in the OF late in games. Jhoan Duran has to be happy. To me, the best part is now we should allow Celestino a year at AAA. Develop some power, hit the cutoffs, learn to run the bases properly. Taylor is gone in 2024. Do everything well and Celestino will be ready for 2024. I'm not giving up on him yet.
  6. You won't see Julien there. He'll be with Wallner, Woods-Richardson, and Varland. And if Lee starts out hot, he could be moved up to AAA by mid-season. Lewis comes back and gets some games in with the Saints first. Maybe the fun will end up being in St. Paul.
  7. The Twins kept him off the 40 man all last year and he passed through the Rule 5 draft. I like him too, I just don't think the Twins feel he is ready. They wouldn't be going after Gurriel, McCutcheon and others if they did.
  8. I don't have access to it but just checking out Reds and Orioles posts about it, the Reds have 5 and the Orioles have 8 in the top 101, none of which are the former Twins prospects that were traded last year. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
  9. Buxton, Polanco, Correa, Kirilloff, Miranda, Gallo, Larnach, Vazquez, Kepler vs. RH Buxton, Polanco, Correa, Miranda (1B), Garlick, Farmer, Kirilloff, Vazquez, Gallo vs. LH Still think Kepler is getting traded though. Gordon will get plenty of playing time then.
  10. Arraez was my favorite Twin along with Buxton but this is a fair trade. It tells me some things. 1. The Twins think Kirilloff is going to be healthy and ready to go coming out of spring training and he will play 1B. 2. Our long relief is going to be much better than last year as this pushes guys from being starters to there. 3. We think Julien, Martin and Lee are advancing well and one or two of them will be opening day starters in 2024. 4. You never have enough pitching (or SS's in the minors, wow). 5. The Twins training staff has doubts about Arraez's knees more than they doubt Polanco's back/ankle. My big question, as others have asked, who is going to be our OBP guy so other guys have someone to drive in? I still think Kepler will be traded but, if not, you could have a really good late inning defensive lineup of Vazquez, Farmer (in for Miranda), Correa, Polanco, Kirilloff, Gallo, Buxton and Kepler.
  11. Gordon had a great year in 2022. Is he ever going to hit lefties well? I think most would say no. Is he ever going to be a backup to any infield position? Many would say no. Emergency option, yes. Does he play RF? The Twins never use him there. The debate is whether he is good in LF or CF or will be good. He's not a natural out there and I think he doesn't get a great jump on the ball when it's hit (that's just my eye test so someone can dispute that). Will he hit RH pitching like last year or even better? Those who say he was a "one year wonder" in that department say no and others say yes. My hunch is no but that is a total guess on my part. He has good speed but not great speed on the bases. I really wish he would learn to be a great bunter and make the infielders honor that. I think the ceiling is still higher on Kirilloff and Larnach and I'm taking that chance. The Twins really need to move Kepler or Gordon. I want a RH hitting OF so Celestino can actually get a year in AAA as he has been robbed of his development by being forced to fill in for the Twins. See if he can develop power and learn to run the bases. The trade could be for a quality arm in the pen as well. Don't get rid of either Kepler or Gordon just to make a move. Make a good trade.
  12. I see Lewis in RF. He is fast and has a good arm. Just have to let him practice and learn to play OF in St. Paul before throwing him out there with only a couple recent minor league games under his belt.
  13. No problem here. Twins signed a few catchers who can go and up and down between St. Paul and the Twins when they need them. Just use the Paddack roster spot when they put him on long-term IL. Canterino could be used the same way but the Twins don't like giving service time this way.
  14. Great move by the Twins. Now they have at least a full year to see if he can bounce back from TJ surgery. Imagine Ortega and Garlick get invites if they don't get claimed.
  15. Kepler and Polanco for Cabrera and Luzarde. Never can have too much pitching and we would be dealing from positions where we have depth, though not at Polanco's level when he is healthy.
  16. Martin, Buxton, Lewis would be a fast OF in 2024. Lee, Correa, Polanco/Arraez/Kiriloff in the infield (or Miranda at 1B). Vazquez at C. Requires Martin, Lewis and Lee to keep developing but could be a real good lineup. More speed than we have now. Signing Correa sure leaves guys open to trades - our OF as Lewis and/or Martin may now end up there by 2024 and 2B as we have Polanco and Arraez with Julien about ready. I was against signing Correa to 10 years, $285 with no Twins opt out, but this I agree with.
  17. Enlow DFA'd to get Ortega, Ortega DFA'd to get Alexy. My money is on Alexy DFA'd to sign Correa. We are just attempting to fill the Saints with potential. If Ortega and Alexy (make it through waivers and) don't gain control, look out in ondeck circle and look out mascot. We could have some Bull Durham situations there this summer.
  18. I agree. If we are going to keep the 10-year, $285 million offer on the table (when it seems like no other teams are left to make anything close to this offer now), lets give Correa an opt out at 2 years and the Twins an opt out after 7 years.
  19. Exactly my thought. Why have Enlow on the 40 man for the ENTIRE 2022 season and cut him now. That makes no sense. Nothing has changed since August really. Now, as some have speculated, if this means Correa and a trade in the next 7 days, everything may make a lot more sense. Pagan still being on the team is my big issue.
  20. 2 teams potentially backing out of deals with Correa. I would not be putting $285 million down on him at this point. How about $75 million over 2 years, with an opt out after the first..................
  21. If Correa truly loved playing in MN, does the difference between $315 and $285 (probably $15 million after taxes) really make a difference in his life when you've earned this much money in your career?
  22. Or did the Twins doctor from last year miss this and we just got lucky. We do have a new head guy in this department this year and had so many injuries last year.
  23. Camargo is the guy I like. He will be in AAA all year just because they don't want him to be the catcher who keeps going up and down between the Twins and Saints when a third catcher is needed, like with Godoy and Hamilton this past season. If Camargo does well and Jeffers doesn't, we could see Camargo on the Twins in 2024.
  24. Royce Lewis - get healthy, come back soon, come back great. SS is yours.
