  1. My point is that extending a RP to 3-4 (assuming he's effective!) innings and using 40+ pitches is not a bad thing. Sure, this pitcher needs rest for awhile, but the 2-3 guys who weren't used (due to the preference of 1 inning/ 1 pitcher) all received a day of rest.
  2. I wasn't aware that Duffey is a "power arm". I thought he got his Ks with curves not FBs.
  3. The bullpen pitch numbers are deceptive. If a guy throws three or four innings, pitch count isn't all that. True, that pitchers needs 2-3 days rest--but everybody else just got a day of rest--or one spent and six rested--a fair trade in my opinion.
  4. "FIX the team?" What on earth are you saying? There is no single player now, or in history who could "fix" this team. But providing a spark, some semblance of consistent hitting--there is ample room for that! Even if Granite fails, the smug entitlement will be wiped from a few faces (in the OF).
  5. Yet there is no room for Zach Granite on this team!
  6. What words would have been used to describe a ground-ball that went through the infield instead of being fielded for a 6-4-3 DP?
  7. I think the "veteran leadership demand" is a concession to Molitor. OK, there has to be some give-and-take (Haley) between field manager and GM--especially if the GM's is sharpening his axe so he can install his hand-picked field manager!
  8. What was it? 4 days ago? You know that thread that claimed the Twins were only a #3 Sp and 2 "reasonable Rps" from a WS contender. Sentiment changes fast at TD.
  9. If my reading was correct (help me here), wasn't Greene projected as the #1 SS for a HS player also?
  10. Lewis will have to climb over a lot of SS. i wonder if the new FO will punt on the previous "talents" that were deemed to be future studs.
  11. It appears the new FO has a low opinion of "in-house prospects". Said FO had better be very good in Monday's draft--or this will be a never-ending rebuild.
  12. Everybody is "for sale"--at the right price. We need to know the offer before commenting.
  13. Last Tuesday one of the "coffee klatch" (recently returned from Ft. Meyers, FL usher duty) asked me "if I thought the Twins success (to that date...) was due to Molitor?" I tried to deflect by saying "many are contributing". I wonder what he will ask about Molitor tomorrow (Tuesday) at coffee? What should I tell him???
  14. Plop drop, fizz (le), fizz(le). Oh what a relief it ISN'T!
  15. Consider that the Twins haven't been very successful at developing HS players as well as other teams, Selecting the older and more developed college player (McKay) seems automatic. True, some teams might turn Greene into this "generational" pitcher--but, are the Twins one of the some teams?--or one of the others?
  16. Amen. Three easy outs conveniently spaced in the line-up. A DH whose claim to fame is taking walks! And Mauer!
  17. The Twins (finally) get a reliable starter, and at a good price, and the trade flag is waived? That will send a message to everyone--but not a welcome message! I actually think that the Twins pick up his option year. In fact after his option year is used, Santana might be offered another year if all goes well.
  18. Why not use an 11-man staff for a stretch? The starting pitching has fully met team expectations invalidating the need for this excess of pitchers. 11-man staffs are not "short", they used be considered "standard" or even "generous"?
