  1. I was in Fort Myers when the season was cancelled. That was way more disappointing than losing the two playoff games. At least we had a season that was for the most part enjoyable until the familiar unhappy ending. Thanks Ted for your work
  2. I think it will be Framber Valdez for sure. He has pitched very well this season. Pitches deep into games, strikes out a lot of hitters and is left handed. I would be very surprised if he is not the game 2 starter.
  3. A lot of reasons to be excited for the playoffs 1. We are not playing the Yankees 2. Our starting pitching is really good and healthy 3. We are not playing the Yankees 4. If Buxton and Donaldson can play our hitters are pretty healthy 5. We are not playing the Yankees
  4. Bailey has 245 games pitched in MLB but zero in relief. I wonder if he refuses to be used out of bullpen which eliminates his value in the post season. Just speculating since I too am a little surprised that he would not be considered decent depth just in case a starter is injured
  5. We have plenty of salary room for next year I would sign Cruz. Best hitter we have had in a long time. If there is demand for DH's it may help the market for Rooker or any other surplus outfielder.
  6. I think Odorizzi, Hill and Homer Bailey factor in to the first round bullpen
  7. Great line on Eddie. I wish Alcala would pitch more regularly. He fights his control and not sure it helps him to have so many days between appearances. May happen next year
  8. The other thing I like about using a reliever for two innings is there is a little risk each time you bring in a reliever that he does not have his stuff. I thought Wisler looked to be struggling with his command right away today. If a reliever looks sharp why not leave him in for a second inning.
  9. Starting pitchers seem to even go fewer innings in the playoffs. Multi inning relievers will be very valuable. I think Wisler and Stashak will be candidates also. Wisler did not throw well today but he has been good for the most part.
  10. Especially versus White Sox. They torture lefties and are only slightly above average versus righties
  11. It does not matter that they changed the playoff scenario. You know we will play the Yankees and I am looking forward to it.
  12. The front office does seem more comfortable trading for minor league pitching prospects than drafting them. Duran, Alcala, Chalmers, Smeltzer and Valimont are decent acquisitions. As far as drafting Balazovic and Canterino look like their top selections. I do think they have added much needed depth to the farm system. This off season is critical in my opinion. A few of these prospects are reaching the play them or trade them time.
  13. He was already warmed up before Buxton hit the home run to make it a four run lead. Looking through the bullpen usage chart I am not sure what other option he had.
  14. I really wish they would call up Duran and give him a start instead of the bullpen game.
  15. Nothing in 2020 has been normal so why not win it with no additions. Good to see you writing again.
  16. PLAYOFF'S? - This team has lost six in a row. Can't hit any left handed pitcher, Has one consistent starter. All you have to do is walk Cruz. I wouldn't worry about Pineda pitching in the play offs
  17. Huge Win - Bullpen not in good shape for tommorrow but Bieber pitching anyways. Berrios on Wednesday. This first game was very important. I think Clevinger will throw Wednesday but we shall see
  18. Are there any command statistics? That is where Dobnak really stands out and where Berrios is lacking.
  19. They should target Taylor Rogers brother Tyler. We are the Twins
  20. I think the bullpen games have been a problem in having a rested scheduled bullpen. I would rather see them stack Smeltzer and Stashak and if it does not work you lose one game. Using up nine bullpen innings and losing feels much worse.
  21. Calling Rosario's attempt to catch that ball in the first a misplay is a little harsh. That ball was smoked and missed being a home run by about a foot,
  22. It is so nice having a deep pen. I remember the years with a 7th inning guy an 8th inning set up man and the 9th inning closer. About a 3 game winning streak is about all you could get to and then your bullpen was tapped out. Today the only bullpen guy that pitched yesterday was Rogers and he only threw 5 pitches. I bet he is off tommorrow but Duffey, Romo, Clippard did not throw today so would be available.
