  1. I used to have season tickets at Target Field for the first few seasons. In my opinion most people don't 'whine' about ticket prices. I have never viewed ticket prices as outrageous etc. for Twins games. Concession prices on the other hand are a joke at any major sports venue. Obviously huge margins which we hope they use to invest in the competitiveness of the club,
  2. Do they know you need to open up the piggy bank to obtain relatively successful pitchers?
  3. This article from the Ryan Administration is NOT a knock on the Mauer contract. I wonder how the current regime feels on the topic. Hopefully the link works for you all...I doubt they are going much about that 52ish number today. https://www.twincities.com/2012/12/04/minnesota-twins-gm-terry-ryan-doesnt-want-top-heavy-payroll/
  4. Interesting take...I might have gotten my BANK but I'm not truly happy type of deal.
  5. If that 10/285 is accurate that is a very legit offer. 13 is a joke but how the game is played in today's market. Can't knock him for taking it and obviously the Giants saw it as a proper investment. They have no issues selling out games. Hopefully the Twins take that $$$/season and invest it elsewhere where it is needed.
  6. Job well done addressing the catcher position. More work to do for certain!
  7. I don't see the Twins going 10 years. I don't disagree with your assessment at all on what he wants.
  8. Totally agree you can't fake 12 years in the show. I used to have heated debates with a former co-worker who thought Nick Punto was the worst player ever to see a MLB field. If you play for 12+ years and are awful then the scouts/GM'S must all be idiots and know nothing about the game. He had a very respectable career!
  9. Guys got a huge heart for the game...he busts it all the time. Probably can't say that for every player in the show. Hopefully he continues to trend upward!
  10. Lower the price of beer...sorry had to do it. I haven't been to many games since I stopped renewal on my season tickets several years back. There is plenty to do for certain I just thought this one was kind of funny. Appreciate everyone's takes on the subject!
  11. It would be interesting to hear TK'S takes on lack of bunting for a hit (especially against the severe shifts) or lack of base stealing/teams not executing a safety squeeze/hit & run etc. Baseball as a whole is certainly not the game it was when those things occurred.
  12. The Twins drafted Kohl Stewart #4 in '13...Yankees drafted Judge #32. It's not as if they went out and bought him via free agency. Overall I can't stand the Yankees but give credit where it is due...see Andy Pettitte/Jeter/Posada/Rivera etc...have they paid big for free agents over the years...of course they have. But they have also done a great job of drafting/developing and retaining those players. He is a very good ballplayer having a historic season. Arraez is struggling down the stretch again as bean5302 points out compared with early season months.
  13. Isn't there an old baseball saying close to 'If you are breathing and a left handed pitcher someone will probably give you a shot'. Who knows how this will turn out? Hopefully it does well in our favor!
  14. I bet if the question would have been asked going into the season after spring training 'If the Twins were 2 games or so out of 1st place going into September would you take that'? I bet the vast majority of us would have said YES I will take that. If they don't implode in September and given their recent stretch I don't see an implosion occurring I'm not sure how Rocco isn't back in '23 as manager. Hopefully the entire month of September is full of meaningful games. WIN TWINS!
  15. 10 game homestand in April....seriously! Granted it is towards the end of the month but come on. If several of those are night games that's not good.
  16. In no particular order beyond '22...you could have Mahle/Gray/Maeda/Ryan/Ober/Paddack in line for starting 5 competition...Archer/Bundy in the mix...assuming all are under contract...gotta give up talent which they did but we needed a solid starter which by all accounts he is.
