  1. Yeah the offense is still a ways off. By OPS, our best regular (Sano) would be -best on BOS -2nd best on KC -3rd best on: NYY, CLE, MIL, ARI -4th best on LAD, WAS, HOU, TBR Realistically the Twins need to find ~2 more bats who produce at a ~.900 OPS level, without sacrificing too much defensively.
  2. Welp, after all my skeptcism and trashing of AAPL, it just continues to roll. I did a little research on cash flows and unsurprisingly its still a strong value. AAPL is valued at 15x FCF over the TTM. For reference SSNLF (Samsung) is at 17x, MSFT is at 18x, GOOGLE: 24x, FB: 35x, AMZN: 54x (some of these are better comps than others obviously). So yeah, lesson learned. I'm back in at $148.91.
  3. I think Garcia plugs in as their #5 so they're okay but no room for an injury. If they got Gray they could bump Montgomery to the pen in Phil Hughes type fashion. I think that's the thinking.
  4. I'd say it really depends on your projection of Ynoa. Some people see a Fernando Rodney ceiling whereas Littell seems to have #4 starter ceiling with a better chance to reach it.
  5. Don't think there's anything wrong with Rogers. I like him, he's a MLB pitcher IMO, but he's got a 3.82 FIP, maybe just falling back to earth. For sure he's miscast as a #2 bullpen guy. Should be more like #6.
  6. And miss the chance to witness the most rare play in baseball- abase hit with 2-outs and RISP??? No way!
  7. Revising this, the Twins went 4-8. They're two game below .500. 3rd place in the division (5.5 GB), 4 games back of the 2nd wild card spot, behind the Royals, M's, and Rays.
  8. For the record, I don't think they're terrible. They're way better than I expected them to be, but still a long ways off from doing anything in the playoffs. Every time we play a playoff team (Red Sox, Astros, Rockies, Dodgers) this becomes more clear.
  9. Berrios looks like a pro, although the scouting projection of him topping out as a #3 are looking more likely IMO. Mejia is frustrating. I really, really hope someone forces him to cut 25 pounds over the winter and field his position better. He has a good slider, decent velo, and that's enough to get by most of the time. He just leaves too many outs on the field due to poor fielding of his position. Cutting weight might help him go deeper as well. I don't expect big Erv to throw multiple CGSO's in a season for the rest of his career. He's still okay, but peripherals (and age) suggest he could be nearing the beginning of the beginning of the end. Gibson and May are complete non-factors as far as the rotation goes IMO. So they have two spots to fill in free agency, one of which I expect to be Garcia, on a 2-3 year deal probably. They really need to go big on the other one to have a prayer. Get Otani or Darvish. It'll never happen of course, but that should be the penalty for a decade of ineptitude with developing pitching internally.
  10. Ah, I forgot that detail. Don't think a QO would apply here anyways since he's a rental, no?
  11. Honestly I'm sort of conflicted. We needed to make a deal for 2017 and this is a hell of a lot better than nothing but as others have speculated this seems like stage one of a trade and sign and in that sense Garcia would be a pretty underwhelming long term acquisition. Rather have gone after Darvish, if that's the plan.
  12. Terrible throw by Dozier but once again Mejia, had he fielded his position like a pro, stops that ball from getting to the backstop and the damage is minimized.
  13. Could be. Or maybe its like when your dad went shopping for a $1000 used car but your mom only let him bring $500. So he pointed out every spot of rust and each tear in the upholstery in painstaking detail hoping to haggle the guy down on what was already a cheap car.
  14. Boy its not like we're one pitcher away from competing. If there's a red flag in the medicals, don't try to lower the $$$. Try to get ATL to throw in a reliever too!
  15. Alright so following the axiom that a fair trade is one that leaves all parties dissatisfied, what say we Twins fans? Mitch Garver + $4.7m?
  16. @BGB, what would be a fair price for Garcia in Twins prospects / players/ $$ in your opinion?
  17. Braves talking to other teams anyways. Wonder if JP balked at the $5m price tag.
  18. Well, Levine said just a couple weeks ago that he wasn't inclined to spend "lavishly" for short term assets, which is what Garcia would be. So I wouldn't fret about an overpay.
