  1. Has to be the FO sitting out the most robust free agent pitching market watching their pitching degrade into a shot show and then being forced to give up valuable prospects to try and fix the original problem. Who is honestly surprised that Joe Smith wasn’t great or Gary Sanchez can’t catch?
  2. Agreed. Prospects are nice because they provide hope. It seems that is what most people consider. If you look at things objectively it is a completely different story. I think Enlow is in this category. Last year I posted skepticism about Balazovic and received much push back from many posters. Objectively he was wildly inconsistent at AA and really struggled at times. There was nothing in his performance that screamed top prospect. And there you have it.
  3. This is the most fundamentally unsound I can recall in my many years of watching the Twins. I don’t know who gets the blame but this is ridiculous and they’ve played sloppy most of the year. 4 fing errors and a bunch of botched plays. Tommy Watkins has made a career’s worth of blunders in one season.
  4. Yea this is starting to look like a medical clown show.
  5. One more time I will post how rotten Megill has been. He gives up runs nearly every time he takes the mound. Why he flies under the radar is beyond me. He needs to be gone.
  6. I think Viola’s change up was on par with Johans. Didn’t Duran stop throwing the splinker for a while this summer because he was giving up loud contact?
  7. Don’t look now but Correa is heating up. By the end of the year he might have the best numbers of any SS. He will opt out. There would be all kinds of teams willing to give him $30 million for one year so he has nothing to lose and potentially a monster contract to gain.
  8. I agree with the op. Way too much blathering on about stuff not even related to the action. If you have something to add to the game say it and say it succinctly. Otherwise it’s more than fine to say nothing. For this reason I like Smalley the best - he talks the least of the bunch.
  9. Would he one of the 13 best pitchers available to the Twins? If yes get him up here. Hint: if he isn’t better than Archer Megill or Pagan then I’m disappointed.
  10. Forget 2023 the Twins can still win the division so that is what I’m focusing on. As someone said up thread I expect the Twins to fight till the end so I will too. They just need to be the best team in their division for the next 40 games and they are in.
  11. Rocco won’t be fired as he is doing exactly what the FO wants him to do. I do not go for the idea that somehow the reason this horse crap pitching staff is lousy is due to how Rocco is handling them. The one area I would criticize him is that the Twins are a fundamentally poor team. I think that probably falls on the manager. The rest of it is on Falvine.
  12. I have no idea what Rocco is like behind the scenes. I do know he is doing exactly what the front office wants him to do.
  13. Megill gives up another homer. They seriously need to move on from this guy. It will be interesting to see who goes when injured players start returning.
  14. I wonder if a less lively ball is going to make the all or nothing sluggers less attractive. We’ve got enough swing and miss in our lineup. Perhaps a trade is the best outcome.
  15. My understanding is that he is mediocre in the field with no real positional home. Can someone verify?
  16. I have my doubts because of the walk rate but he really is the only healthy potential long term pen piece we have. Time to find out what he can do with an extended run.
  17. It’s really too bad that the whole mess started with Altuve being such a baby. He barely got hit and there is no way Sanchez is trying to hit him. And Megill doesn’t disappoint giving up the long ball. He is not good but flies under the radar.
  18. The “puff piece” article actually has nothing to do with Buck learning Spanish. He did it to be a better teammate not to get written about. If your beef is with the author of the article then fine. If you are denying Buck credit for trying to be a better teammate then you are wrong.
  19. He has been a godsend especially because he has been used in different situations. I hope he works on the splinker and can use it again. This is also an interesting story because he didn’t always tear it up in the minors.
  20. This is all rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. None of the above mentioned players are difference makers.
  21. On a recent broadcast the announcers mentioned that the Twins tried to get Leon to go down on one knee. He said no thanks which warmed my heart. What they give up on one knee pursuing some nebulous pitch framing number is a joke.
  22. Don’t look now but Megill is basically Pagan. Two guys that have stuff but don’t have command. Get rid of them both. Command is way more important than stuff.
  23. Well let’s also remember Cavaco and Sabato bothe first round picks haven’t done much. Normally they would be leading your list right now.
