  1. This article is absolutely ridiculous. It's nice to be positive and enthusiastic but not at the expense of common sense. First I do applaud the FO for these aquisitions. Even If they don't make the playoffs it should help in the coming couple of years. To me they waited way too long. They were the ones that assembled the pitching staff in the first place. They created their own mess that the had to patch up. The pen has lost 24 games that we can't get back. If it was only half that we would be in great shape. Their insistence on keeping Pagan because he and they say his stuff is great is very discouraging. Have any of those people really checked his results? He should have been DFA a long time ago. With the overwhelming positive nature of this article one can assume the writer works for the Twins lol ( tongue in cheek)
  2. To me Bundy is definitely the better of the two. Who knows, maybe they will both be back. Maybe they will both be gone. To me Pagan is the prime example of analytics and projections gone mad. Does whiff rates, missed bats, spin rates really matter if you can't get anyone out. Duffey and Smith were released due to ineffectiveness but we're both better than Pagan. Whatever happened to the "eye test" evaluation of players. Anyone that watches must realize he is terrible. He has been very directly involved in 13 of the bullpen losses. But Pagan and Baldelli say he's pitching fine. What games have they been watching? Pagan should have been released a long time ago. Baldelli should go right with him.
  3. Nice to sneak a win from the jaws of defeat! Not a very well played game though. But nice pitching from the Twins and Giants didn't seem very interested in the game
  4. If, in part, you are talking about using his salary sump to spend elsewhere u kind of understand. But we have a $35 million shortstop that is way underperforming. I say let's hope he leaves and use his money to keep Utshela and also find more pitching
  5. Nice to see an ala around very good win. Nice to see everything click in all facets of the game. Now the key is to build on that and build a little win streak. Great job Twins. Keep it up.
  6. Final score:. Astros 6 Twins 3. In the 6 games against the Astros this year Twins were outscored 36-11. Current 6 game losing streak. Abysmal performance again. Not unexpected. Just more frustration
  7. Rocco has cost this team many wins this year with his poor lineup decisions, resting star players on the same day with next day being an off day, poor fundamentals, poor baserunning and lack of any sense of urgency. My biggest beef with him is sticking to his game plan even if it means costing a game. I'm still trying to learn the analytical game. I think it's fine but to be used as a tool to help the team win. Not a complete take it analytically approach or leave it. I doubt that the players dislike him. He is not a demanding manager at all. His laid back player friendly style and lifeless approach shows on the field. Why wouldn't the players like him? They obviously aren't held accountable for their listless play.
  8. Of course Correa opts out. I think we've figured that out since the day he signed that contract. Of course Correa at least says he loves it in Minnesota. People treat him like a king. There is not nearly the pressure to perform here as in major market cities. He's got it made in that regard. I think he will opt out. If he leaves for another team so be it. I think his season has shown that he is over rated and definitely overpaid for what he is producing.
  9. Not much to say. Twins are lifeless, and beaten up. Rocco is clueless and has been for a couple of years now. R.I.P. Twins 2022!
  10. I'm a yawner regarding Correa. I'm always amused how people use analytics to make a player appear better than he is. Correa has not produced for what you would think for one player eating up a huge chunk of the payroll at 35 mil. For decades part of a players worth was measured in batting average, home runs, RBIs, risp. Now apparently they don't mean much anymore. As long as a player has great exit velo, high barrel up stats launch angels etc is all that matters any more. Results aren't important like they used to be. Correa is hitting around .125 with two outs and runners in scoring position. Hitting around .270 been stuck on 39 RBI forever. Even our young players have more than that. If he stays fine, if not let it be. I just don't think he's worth all the money he is getting.
  11. There is no moral victory here. Except for the ninth inning the game played out in typical Twins fashion. I find it strange that both the Twins tv announcers and radio announcers immediately picked up that the twins were charged a mound visit during the little fracas. Yet with all the coaches in the dugout no one saw the clear notice made by the home plate umpire. Obviously that had nothing to do with losing the game as some would try to make you believe. Twins pitching, minus megill was very good. The bats are still in hibernation
  12. A little slump? Byron has been taking hitting results right next to Correa for the past nearly 3 months. At least Buxton has an injury excuse. Correa not so much. Buxton over eight years now is hurt. Hurt a lot. It's part of what he is. It isn't likely to change. But here we have people worried that our " best player" being on IL for 10 days is going to ruin the Twins chances. Let's get serious. Of the 10 games missed he would have only played 6 or 7 of those games anyway. He and Correa are battling out to see who is the biggest flop since June 1. I vote Correa as the bigger flop but Buxton has been no prize. He has hit 28 Homer's and plays a good center field. He is poor at hitting in the clutch and is totally unreliable for play. Yes I wish Buxton didn't have to go on IL but his lack of production over the past couple of months will make it a mute point. If the team does not win the division it's not going to fall on Buxton. There's a lot to go around.
  13. All great comments. Yes we are all frustrated. None more than me. This has been going on for most of the season. What is disheartening to me is the lack of fire and sense of urgency from the team and manager Rocco. Why is everyone so whoa is me on Buxton being hurt. Big deal. He's been hurt for 8 seasons now. Aren't we used to? Of his 28 Homer's 17 are solo. The past two months he's been absolutely terrible in batting average and in clutch situations. It really doesn't matter much if he's in there or not. He doesn't produce much anyway. Twins are cooked. They have no heart and are playing out the season.
  14. This team has been missing leadership most of the year. The well paid veterans have, for the most part flopped. They play a listless brand of baseball most of the time. So many holes and weak parts on the team. No sense of urgency to them at all. Their pitching continues to rank toward the bottom in most categories. We have a 35 million dollar player hitting .125 with two outs and runners in scoring position. It's August 22 and he only has 39 RBI. Our defense is below average. We have one of the worst baserunning teams in the majors. Not just the puny stolen base totals but their inability to advance runners is ridiculous. The central division is just waiting to be taken by someone. The Twins look like a team that's not interested.
  15. What a horrific but not surprising performance from these twins. Now they have to win Monday just to get a split with the lowly rangers. Twins scored 5 runs in 3 games. Pathetic. The most discouraging part is there is no life in this team. They play listless uninspiring baseball for a supposedly contending team. The veterans on this team have failed. The young players are carrying this team. Btw batting practice pagan should be DFA immediately
  16. Now with our two best starters going the next two days against the Rangers those become must wins. After that we go to Houston and the Twins are like 2-12 against first place teams this year. Then the Giants. They better come out on Sunday and Monday and at least put in an effort. Team scored only 5 runs in two games against a pretty poor Rangers team.
  17. After a slow start Miranda has become a very good hitter. For me he's the choice over Duran although Duran is very good too Miranda and Arraez and a couple of other younger players have been carrying this team.
  18. Not a bad pickup but nothing exciting. He and peacock are probably going to be used for next year's bargain basement pitching additions in advance.
  19. If the organizations philosophy is to not let pitchers face batters a third time you better have a deep quality bullpen. Twins don't have that and haven't in a few years. Pagan has cost the team many wins this year yet they keep sending them out there in pressure situations because some analytics says he's pitching well. Does anyone in the Twins actually see what's going on? For decades baseball has used starters designed to go 7-9 innings. This was baseballs heyday. Imagine that pitchers for years pitched to batters 3 times and more per game. Baseball not only survived but thrived. Now we have all the baseball geeks telling us that their way is better. It's better using 4-5 pitchers every game? It's too bad because IMO these experts are ruining the game!
  20. Great comments by all. There's a couple of you that should either be hired as the manager or general manager because you have all the answers. I don't have any answers just opinion. This is what happens when you sign too many dumpster sale starters and relievers. It's the great FO that signed those pitchers and then try to convince fans that they are all good. Common sense says if you use 4-5 pitchers every night your bullpen won't be able to hold up. The bullpen has lost/ blown 24 games this year. Perhaps if we had starters, and an organizational philosophy, to pitch an extra inning or two more regularly and if we had a stronger pen from the start we would have been better off. Twins are hanging in there but realistically with a stronger pitching staff we should easily be a out 8 games ahead right now. Too many missed opportunities.
  21. What's not to like about Tuesdays game? Clicked in all areas. But I still temper it with the fact it's the Royals. But Twins did a great job of taking advantage of a poor team. Twins MUST win Wednesday. A sweep against this team is essential. My concern for Wednesday is what kind of a lineup Rocco has in there. Keep the regulars in and finish off the Royals. I hope he doesn't have a B or C lineup in today.
  22. I don't think any of those mentioned will sign with the Twins. Good riddance Correa!! If this is what you get for 35million then split it up and get some pitching. We've needed it for several years and we still do.
  23. So nice to see Kepler break out!! Decent performance by Ryan. Lopez IS a little scary. He had two blown saves in his first five games. Royals we're hitting him hard. But he got that game ending double play. Good job. Thank God it wasn't Pagan. We may have to deal with him Tuesday. Nice win Twins against a team with seven rookies. Nothing less than a sweep is acceptable. After all we are playing basically a AAAA team. We are using our top three starting pitchers this series. We are at home and in a pennant race. A sweep is a must. The only negative this week is we still have Pagan and Baldelli in the wings that could throw a wrench in the works.
  24. The team overall has been playing uninspiring baseball over the past 65 games. We are always saying this next stretch of games is important yet they usually fail at it. I'm thinking tonight they will right the shop at least for one night. Ryan will pitch well as he usually does against sub 500 teams. Not so great against teams with winning records. Yes twins have had plenty of injuries but let's be honest here. Many of those injured are not front line players. Some are but many are just hopefuls. This team still has so many flaws. A lot of these that should have been addressed during this past season weren't. If they aren't addressed this off season then we will see more of the same or worse in 2023. Baldellis plan and his unwillingness to waiver from each game plan has cost the team a lot of games. His nearly non- existent in game managing and decision making, and lack thereof, will cost the Twins any chance of winning the division.
  25. Bullpen blows it again. Pagan blows it again. Why is he still on the team? Twins went o-14 with runners in scoring position. They struck out 15 times. We have a manager with very few managing skills. If his computer and spread sheets weren't available he would have to forfeit the game. He is totally incapable of in game managing and adjustments. Pagan should go and Baldelli should go with him.
