  1. I have to keep reminding myself that a pitchers terrible numbers are OK if the pitcher comes thru at the right times. Look at Jack Morris and others. Give him a fat lead and he'd fritter it away, but when he needed a crucial out, he'd find the right pitch. Berrios is that way and sometimes Maeda is too. This White Sox series is going to show what our staff is truly made of.
  2. The next month will be critical in the evaluation of FalVine, 1. If the club has a good July and gets into contention, what will they do? 2. If they have a bad July, what moves will they make? 3. If they play around .500, what will they do? We all have our prejudices and preferences. The decisions they make before the trade deadline could define them or condemn them. Whatever happens: WIN TWINS!
  3. Firstly. If the Twins take 3 of 4 from the Indians they will have a .500 record for June. A positive July will put them in the playoff picture, and they won't want to trade these vets. Secondly. The eye test says that Sano has become a pretty darn good First baseman. If Donaldson were to go, let Sano play 3rd. I bet he will do fine if he plays everyday.
  4. These comments are appropriate if we had a season that only lasted 3 months. Lets see what we have to say about things in mid-September.
  5. Reading those stathead statistics is eye-opening. Thanks for the informative article.
  6. I look forward to these weekly roundups. It seems like there are very few of the 2019 & 2020 draft picks still playing. With the late start this year, I have to keep reminding myself that these numbers are pretty meaningless with only about 6 weeks of the season played. Keep up the good work.
  7. In my opinion, a pitcher should NEVER throw a pitch he has less than perfect control of, when a man is on 3b. NEVER!
  8. Yay Rah Twins. We're driving up to Seattle to see them again, next week. I'm looking forward to it. Win Twins!!!
  9. Since the Twins don't have enough outfielders, he is playing thru the pain. Under normal circumstances the Twins would have been more protective of his wrist. Lets see what his stats look like at the end of the season. Probably they will be very good.
  10. Falvine is supposed to be excellent at pitcher development Its time for some pitchers to develop. .
  11. I don't care if they have reached 100 pitches in 6 innings. If they are pitching good, let them keep pitching.
  12. Luck! Schmuck! The Twins have magnified their bad luck with bad play. Some by Rookies and 2nd rank players but some by Donaldson and Simmons, who have previously been elite defenders. Yeah, yeah...I suppose that is bad luck too. but if the relievers would pitch faster and throw more strikes, we wouldn't be so unhappy.
  13. thanks spycake. It seems I get easily confused these days.
  14. Hicks ! You forgot Hicks! I disliked him and I was glad when he was traded and he's a Yankee, but Hicks is a lot better than Wade. (and what about Murphy as C, who now plays for the A's) So many benefits from one trade.
  15. It is easy to forsee a lineup with Sano at first and Kiriloff in LF but... It is hard to be confident and aggressive when you don't feel 100% healthy. It may take a while for Sano to be in the lineup 5-6 days a week. In the meantime Rocco has plenty of players to juggle. He needs to keep Arraez & Austudillo in the lineup for their ability to get on base. Once Sano is healthy enough to play regularly there will be lots of juggling. I predict Donaldson won't play more than 5 times most weeks. Kepler won't play against lefty's much, until he shows that he can hit them again. Cave will be on the team, but rarely in the lineup (Garlick is not a fielder). Astidillo will catch 2 times a weej, pinch hit and occaisionally play in the field. Arraez has proved he can play 2nd base, 3rd base and Left Field without sacrificing too much defense. Polanco will probably lose the most playing time until he gets his bat back on track. Oh the possibilities. One thing for sure. I will be looking forward to each days lineup.
  16. Excuses, Alibi's and phoney justifications. Thank you. I'll take any rational to help me feel better about the season.
  17. Arraez bobbled a ball. Maybe its a hit anyway, maybe not. Simmons dropped a ball. Colome overthru the bag. Kepler dropped a catchable ball. We deserved to lose this one.
  18. Pitchers have always tried to cheat. If they get caught, let them be punished. The threat of forensics investigating the balls should be enough to cut down on the cheating. But look at it this situation: 7th inning. 2 men on. Dangerous hitter at bat. Why not use a foreign substance to increase the spin rate and make the ball move more. You get the batter out and 3 days later they suspend you because they found trace evidence on the ball. Unless the suspension is dreadfully long. You laugh it off and treat it as a vacation and your club makes sure you are repaid for the expense.
  19. Interesting viewpoint. I look at Buxton & Sano. Both were highly valued and both have had injury issues and both have yet to have a season that shows their true talent. Maybe they will or maybe they won't. I can imagine Lewis will have a similar path. Lets hope all 3 have successful careers.
  20. I don't like the idea of a player having his service time manipulated by keeping him back. A new season is a new season, and it shouldn't shorten or lengthen a players service time regardless of when he is brought up. I blame the players union. This can build up resentment between your best players and their club. Sometimes those resentments last for a career.
  21. Kiriloff, Rooker & Larnach. Could the Twins hit the jackpot with all 3 ??
