  1. That's what has been said about the original trade. I too liked Meyer. But 4 years later it was a horrible trade. Tricked by hope and dreams.
  2. Palanco up! Great! Nunez regressing on another team? Great! Berrios says to himself under his breath... great... Another pitcher to not bring up? Great? Mauer got 2 hits w/ a triple! WHAT!
  3. At 30 years old, I hope Albers is getting paid more than a pittance. That's the way to acknowledge him.
  4. Doing an informal survey... Rebuild or no rebuild consensus. Spycake in the rebuild column. If this is incorrect, please let me know.
  5. Well it had come full circle, and I saw the humor in that. It really does revolve around the different views of the definition. What they have and haven't done is in the books and history.
  6. ..... and you lost me at...... "rebuild"... but I respect your commitment. ;-)
  7. I think you have your own special definition. Gutting and starting over.... that would be the definition in my book, even if it means some of the pieces are new different veterans as part of the rebuild. Plus it happens all at once. If you rebuild a house, you tear it down and rebuild. But you can redefine it if you like. I would call what you are talking about as a slow remodel. By the time you get to the last pieces you already have to start replacing your first pieces. Teams are always looking to get young and utilize the farm, and that is all that has happened.
  8. No waves. No ripples. Just normal drafting and tired mediocre pitching added to dumpster diving waiver cast-offs. Call it a special rebuild if you like. I would say more posters post about a rebuild than no rebuild, and the consensus is the opposite, but it would need a poll to make either statement true. So we will keep our opinions and disagree.
  9. Not this decade. That is some time ago. But it would be nice. The decade MO is to lose massively after the all-star break.
  10. Exactly! And hey...... a little 30 game winning streak and we are right back in the hunt!
  11. Go young and try to win. Establish a winning attitude. Immediately if not sooner. Draft picks are extremely overrated, especially high schoolers in the first round. Win. That's what you are in this for. New blood, new GM, new attitude. Now.
  12. Berrios! Berrios! Berrios! Berrios! Nothing left to prove in Rochester. What are you waiting for, Antony. Your clock is ticking.
  13. In fairness to Luke Bard, he was pulled from the 8th with one out and the bases loaded, but a grounder away from a DP and out of the inning. While he was pulled and charged with 3 runs, it was the usually reliable Landa that "gave (them) up". Poor Landa. He let 7 runs cross the plate in 5 batters, and his performance included a walk, HBP, WP, 2 doubles and a single. Ouch. Wimmers needs brought up soon, before he turns 40.
  14. I agree. But that last statement is key. We, as Twins' fans have been somewhat conditioned to lower expectations. I have high hopes for Kepler, too, but am not ready to anoint him the next thing.
  15. I like watching Kepler a lot. But call me old fashioned on this. I still like hitters that hit for high average, and RBI mean clutch hitting. Kepler is coming on. Thankfully, he hasn't been embarrassing in the field, lately. (Yup, I remember). June 3 The rookie booted a two-hop single to right field in the eighth inning, allowing Tampa Bay base runner Taylor Motter to advance to third and eventually score the go-ahead run on Brad Miller’s RBI single. June 15: Routine fly overrun, Kepler watches it fall to the ground he just ran past. http://m.mlb.com/video/v819820783
  16. Mauer's......Mauer's decline, of course. Damn spell check on this phone. This observation by no means is saying it is his wife or children's fault. It has to do, as all that have a wife and or family come to know, that there are now additional compartments that need focus, and they should be just as important if not more important than baseball, especially when your contract is guaranteed.
  17. Maker's decline also correlates directly to getting married and having a family. No judgment, just fact.
  18. I think Dozier is due 6 million next year and 9 million the next. That could be a problem.
  19. Well, after the lead off batter got on base via an error, he imploded with two outs and 5 runs and a grand slam later his ERA is 0 for the game. Looks pretty good for this game on paper, too.Boshers is another of Ryan's off season bullpen fixes, 28 yrs old that nobody wanted, and a Rochester place holder. I have higher expectations for success I guess, and patience is frayed. Maybe things will change now that Ryan is gone, and guys like this won't be called up instead of prospects that are part of the future.
