  1. I don't know what long term good could come of this. The older I get, the less I like the all-star game. The fans that get to vote endlessly, no consideration of the second half of last season..... such a gimmick.
  2. Even though there are a ton of factors that result is stolen bases.... i was interested in how the team average speed is correlating to the stolen bases / caught stealing so far this year. Interesting that the Angels, one of the slowest average speed teams, leads the MLB in stolen bases, and by a good margin. 1. Padres (27.77 mph) 43/18 11th tie 2. Marlins (27.76 mph) 43/10 11th tie 3. Rays (27.58 mph) 44/20 9th tie 4. Twins (27.55 mph) 42/15 13th tie 5. Royals (27.41 mph) 35/8 19th tie 6. Pirates (27.35 mph) 35/24 19th tie 7. Diamondbacks (27.24 mph) 60/19 5th 8. Yankees (27.23 mph) 46/14 8th 9. Reds (27.21 mph) 64/17 4th 10. Rockies (27.15 mph) 27/22 25th 11. Rangers (27.14 mph) 67/25 2nd tie 12. Cubs (27.13 mph) 23/11 28th 12. Nationals (27.13 mph) 59/17 6th 14. Giants (27.05 mph) 42/16 13th tie 15. Phillies (27.03 mph) 30/17 22nd 15. Red Sox (27.03 mph) 44/17 9th tie 17. Dodgers (27.01 mph) 42/13 13th tie 17. Mariners (27.01 mph) 50/18 7th 19. Indians (26.98 mph) 37/14 17th tie 19. White Sox (26.98 mph) 28/20 24th 21. Astros (26.94 mph) 37/19 17th tie 21. Brewers (26.94 mph) 67/21 2nd tie 23. Cardinals (26.9 mph) 40/17 16th 24. Braves (26.86 mph) 31/15 21st 25. Tigers (26.78 mph) 26/20 26th 26. Athletics (26.71 mph) 24/12 27th 27. Angels (26.7 mph) 74/23 1st 28. Mets (26.67 mph) 22/6 29th 29. Orioles (26.48 mph) 16/5 30th 30. Blue Jays (26.12 mph) 29/11 23rd Average = 27.06 mph too lazy / to do the math
  3. I wish that speed would turn into a lot more stolen bases.
  4. Personally, when any MLB team is leading its division in late June, I can't consider them a non-contending team.
  5. No relief. Berrios gives up two, and Molitor and no relief gives up the other two. I really hate seeing Belisle coming into a game. Molitor just keeps marching him out there. Our defensive catchers sure seem to come up with unfortunate passed balls, and wild pitches that they don't catch that sure look catchable. 13 Ks by Boston pitching, and strike out the side all swinging in the 8th. That is a bullpen.
  6. It is not unusual that the one allowed the most save opportunities.... is the one that ends up with the most saves.
  7. Stat me all you want. Pedro even said so himself, and he was talking about the post season. After all, it is the postseason that defines the greatness. I don't need career stats to remember what happened, and neither does he, although it is interesting and welcome info.
  8. The Yankees were Nathan's - and Pedro's - "daddy", for sure. Jepsen was fine, too? Well he was for a while.... just long enough to get fans to accept the good fortune, and write all off season about how good he was. He was until he wasn't. I don't get that feeling about Kintzler, and my spidey sense says that the hard reality and fall is coming real soon now. I hope you are right and I am wrong, because I also don't see a move made to get better in the future.
  9. Who the hell is Melville? Good to see Hughes is not picky. He gives up dingers to AAA players, too. I always think of little league when a professional baseball team only play 7 innings.
  10. The only reason you would go forward with Kintzler as your closer, is that you don't think you can be a postseason team. To enter the postseason with Kintzler as your closer would be waving a white flag.
  11. Garver sure is playing a lot of left field. Hard to get better behind the plate from left field. Levi Michael is now playing center field and still in AA. It is amazing he has never been released. Talk about career a minor leaguer. I wonder what the long term plan is..........
  12. AL Central Standings Cleveland 37-32 Twins 35-33 (-1.5) Kansas City 34-36 (-3.5) Detroit 32-37 (-5) Chicago 31-38 (-6) Here comes KC!!!
  13. Since May 7th, Santana's starts were horrible, great, bad, great, very good, horrible, great, very bad, very bad. ERA for June is over 7. That the season's ERA is under 3 is a testament to just how great he started. He seemed to get all Gibson's runs this game.
  14. I don't know if this a rhetorical question or not, but if not, the answer is striking out about 40% of the time for three different AA or AAA teams/organizations in 114 at bats and 30 games and batting .193
  15. No reality check needed for me. I was expecting Hughes, Santiago, and Belisle to be part of the problem, and Perkins will add to it when they obligatorily include him for some horrible innings. I was expecting Gibson to rebound and be better, and the bullpen to be horrible, and still expect Kintzler to totally blow up, especially if he keeps being used in the 9th. I was expecting the young position players to be better, (except ambivalence toward Buxton and his batting). I was expecting Sano to man 3rd adequately, and Berrios to shine. For this team to be around .500 with this pitching that was basically ignored and not addressed by the mostly absent new front office tandem in the off season, I think, it is indicative of how they really are ready now. I despise every year being not the year to try, and folks accepting that is just the way it is and has to be. Watching strange career minor league lifers get the call to pitch is disgusting. Do I have the answers? Probably. But they would need to pay me to get them.
  16. If you aren't trying to win, why even play? May as well just take the season off, eh? All future and no now. The endless concession. Where the unacceptable becomes the normal. Yuk.
  17. Seriously? Keep your politics to yourself. Not here.Site rules, and all. There are places for it, even on this site. This isn't one of them.
  18. No. This is just fine. This is your Minnesota Twins. All future, no now. Turley should get 5 more starts. I am not going to get into a previous off season here.
  19. It is even more demoralizing that the offense has mustered one hit, and seems to have given up, too.
  20. I would have made moves that gave this team more pitching. It really isn't a question of best decision for the day. And not career minor leaguers that can do well in AAA.
  21. It is like they just decide to throw away some of these games. Like they don't even care. Turley. What a joke.
