  1. Honestly I expect much the same from Eddie, even if his bat slips a little he's still a strong contributor. I really don't think anyone else in the org is going to provide any more than him. He's what, 27? After the last two seasons I don't get the continuing predictions he's going to go all pumpkin on us.
  2. I'm always excited as hell when baseball season begins again, especially so when my hockey team sucks ass. Win Twins!
  3. For a change. That was one of Kill's stated goals when he arrived and I hope Claeys stays that course. Brewster's ignorance towards in state talent adversely affected them for a few years afterwards.
  4. Wait a minute, I'm also going to be in Orlando that week. I think TD needs to strongly consider re-locating this event.
  5. So, uh, hey, Gophers win the Quick Lane Bowl.....whoo hoo! 7 game bowl losing streak over.
  6. I think the crickets had their say.
  7. Never stopped them with Leidner... Green is good get for the Gophers, I hope they take the longer road with him. Hoping to see more of Croft next season, hope he puts on some size.
  8. Seemed to work for Dozier, I remember the analysis you did on him a couple of years back and his success at the plate seemed to really accelerate based on those changes. Agree it shouldn't be cookie cutter though and glad the Twins seemed to have shifted from that mindset.
  9. Yeah, I think this is what it ultimately boils down to. Claeys seems to want to run a more dynamic offense than Kill ever did and wants someone who will develop personnel and a game plan to do so. Also, with the lack of development shown with Leidner, it's hardly surprising he wanted to part with Zebrowksi and run the risk of the same results with Croft.
  10. I'd have to agree, the Gophers didn't just beat Iowa last year, the beat the mother loving hell out of them, then walked away with Floyd and their girlfriends.
  11. Claeys provides continuity for the current athletes plus the recruits for the highly regarded 2016 class. He's also a safe choice for a school lacking an AD at the moment, which is why the 3 year deal makes sense. I like Claeys, I think he's done a fine job and deserves a shot. As fantastic as he is with the D, I like how he handles the offense, even more than Kill. I think they'll beat Iowa, that will get him knighted, beat Bucky and he gains Sainthood........and an extension.
  12. You're kidding right? How about higher each year he's been here. It's Minnesota, he's not a miracle worker, sorry but it's going to take longer than 5 years to compete with the likes of OSU, Michigan, Bucky etc. Kill's biggest achievement has been doing a much better job at attracting and keeping in State talent, something other regimes mistakenly overlooked. It's made them better. Btw, the 2016 class is currently ranked in the top 25 by Rivals and 247.
  13. Well, not the catcher upgrade I was personally hoping for but higher end options are limited and we don't know the possible asking prices. I'm satisfied Murphy can potentially fill the need for the Twins, being 24 has some upside. He'll likely hit better than Suzuki and he'll definitely provide better defense. I was starting to like Hicks more and more actually, but I was never quite convinced he was going to be able to really hold down a corner OF spot, especially with his left side struggles. I'm intrigued as to what the 2nd phase of this trade might mean from the OF perspective. With Hunter retiring, Hicks traded and Buxton almost surely to start the 2016 season in AAA, that leaves Rosario as our only returning outfielder from 2015, seems like Span/Revere 2.0. Maybe the Sano talk is more real than we think, unless a lot is still yet to come. Buckle up. Nobody got taken on this trade, neither player is, or will be, good enough for that to be the case, imo.
  14. Amen, but mainly the Axe, Floyd is currently back where he belongs but that damn axe has been away far too long, 11 years for crying out loud! A win against Bucky would make this season a successful one.
  15. Inspired effort by the Gophers and Leidner, they were the better team and deserved a better fate. Disappointed in the 16 seconds that ticked off the clock at the end but I applaud Claeys for going for the win. Too bad they didn't get it.
  16. Not blasphemy Mike, Utopian maybe, but not blasphemy.
  17. What sad news, Kill seems like the most genuine of people, I feel awful for him. It's a huge blow for the athletes he cared so much about and needless to say the program as a whole. I was a big fan of Kill's, despite some of their struggles this year, I thought he was establishing a standard of excellence at the U which was going to be sustained. What I liked most about him,was that he did it without giving off a shred of self interest. Hope he finds happiness away from the field.
