  1. I don't think anyone said impossible but parachuting a guy in who didn't even know where his locker was before he was handed the ball, is less than normal circumstances. I concede it's classic hindsight, second guessing, but it just seemed a bit unnecessarily forced.
  2. Enough of your hyperbole, that tweet did not have serious in all caps. Let's calm down here.
  3. Well, to be fair, the thread title has left some people not wanting to be left unprepared.
  4. That reminds me.........I have to go cut the grass, it's supposed to rain tomorrow. I'm a proactive guy.
  5. True, yet they've DFA'd 4 of them in the last month. I'd just like to know the plan.
  6. C'mon, it's an analogy to maintenance, you brought it up. It's pretty widely accepted there were questions about this bullpen before the season began and plenty of time and opportunity to do something about it. I'm willing to accept that Falvine were of the mind that they didn't expect this team to be where they are so far this season. If they aren't surprised, it's legitimate to question why they didn't do anything then and haven't done anything to this point. I'd also add, much of what people are saying here is speculation in the absence of facts. It's a discussion forum, if speculating wasn't allowed we wouldn't have much to talk about, since none of us actually know anything.
  7. I would have checked my spark plugs at the beginning of the season and replaced them once I knew they were faulty....... .
  8. Disappointing if no help is added? Definitely. Firing either Falvey or Levine considering where they have this team after 3 years, from where it was?.......Idiotic. A knee jerk reaction like that would set the team back from the direction it's headed in.
  9. Not enough mention of Sano going oppo on that home run. That's an exciting development if he can add that to his attack with some regularity. His approach the last few weeks has been great to watch.
  10. I find it funny that people who support getting Bumgarner have an issue with this move. Obviously different roles but very similar in that past performance is how both of them are valued. Not sure how anyone has a problem with this. Wait and see if this is the only thing they do, then you can cry about it. Until that comes to pass, this is a solid move.
  11. I don't think the Twins are looking at any moral victories in losing to the Yankees. It's probably given them some more belief that they can compete with them, but I doubt it sits well with them that they lost. I think they'll be hungry to beat them in the Fall, if they meet.
  12. I'll take 3 for 4 and a spectacular routine catch from a bench player all day. He's not playing ahead of those guys.
  13. The fact that he's whiffing regularly on sub 95mph fastballs is a pretty good indication that his approach needs a reset. He's simply guessing, largely due to his inability to recognize breaking pitches out of the zone, when he tries to sit on them pitchers are busting him on the inner third of the plate and he's behind. Making them come into the zone on him needs to be number one, then he can start just looking fastball, which at that point he should rarely miss. Was he in a hitters count once during the Red Sox series? Falling behind 0-2 or 1-2 every AB is a recipe for disaster unless he can get a little disciplne. As Ted points out though, the Gallo comparison is cause for some hope.
  14. Seems to me Polanco has advanced runners very well this year, without bunting. Swing the bat.
  15. On the bright side our "#2 starter" did pretty well against a very good lineup......
  16. Nonsense, learning to pitch more efficiently protects arms, not damages them. Arm injury from throwing breaking balls at a young age is anecdotal, if it is a facor then it's likely from throwing them improperly more than anything. Also, these are high schoolers, not Little Leaguers. The biggest threat to youth from pitching is overuse, which has nothing to do with collecting data.
