  1. I see a continued uptrend in Lewis, Lee, Martin & Julien where they could very well make an impact in '24. Not that they'd all make the every day line-up. Miranda will get his ABs at 3B, 1B & DH. If Kiriloff & Larnach are healthy & raking, of course they'll be starting. I can see that these 4 prospects will eventually push out our favorites Kepler, Arraez & Polanco, to help fill other needs. SPs? It seems that our pipeline haven't been able pump out the frontline SPs that we need. I don't see Jeffers as our future catcher, so we could trade for an impact MLB ready catching prospect.
  2. Grant you that Cutch doesn't have the stamina he once had. But on a short term basis, I'd still rather have Cutch in CF than Gallo by far.
  3. Cutch made much more sense than Gallo. Just imagine a clubhouse w/ the addition of Cutch, Cruz & Correa. & the damage they could do against LHPs. But I'm happy for Cutch & PIT.
  4. Seems like posturing to me. (MN)You can't have Arraez (MIA) Well I don't want him
  5. Last year Gordon was our most reliable OFer; offensively, defensively & health wise (why do we want to trade him?). We ranked very high in CF with Gordon being our LH option. If you want to take Gordon out of the equation that will change the results very much. I don't care if Gallo played CF for a poor OF team, he's not a CFer. Signing Gallo was one of FO most bonehead move they have ever done (we don't need another Sano to replace the one we let go), trading Gordon would only compound this mistake. I'd bench Gallo & trade him as soon as possible (that'd never happen, because they can't admit they made a mistake). But even so they should send Celestino & Wallner to AAA. Kiriloff shouldn't play OF because of his wrists. Larnach should be taken slowly & maybe sent down to AAA for awhile. That leaves Buxton CF, Gordon LF, Kepler RF & Gallo 4th OF until he can prove he can hit. FO has put themselves into a very tight situation.
  6. How can you fit a "shift", "non shift" comp into a Kepler? It's all too relative for me.
  7. For the 1st year I don't believe it'd affect anyone. I hope Farmer was never the planned starting SS. If Lewis comes on strong & Miranda is adequate at 3B, maybe Farmer gets traded at the deadline.
  8. Congratulation Nick! You did a good job in writing & hosting this thread.
  9. I always thought that Correa was wasted w/ the shift. IMO Correa will shine w/ the shift ban. He'll rise to the occasion & be an advantage against other teams.
  10. Nash Walker voiced my thoughts. Why would the FO want to extend Paddack? and why would Paddack want to delay FA? Because '23 is a wash, he's still recovering from the surgery and trying to figure out where his arm is at. '24 will be up & down trying to get his control back & just trying to adjust to the effect the surgery. But in '25 that extra year, Paddack has a better chance to prove in what he can do. Paddack & the FO are betting that he'll shine. In that case it's a win/win, Paddack goes into FA with a good season & FO can qualify trading a proven RP pitcher for 3 wasted years of Paddack & Pagan (my thoughts)
  11. This isn't necessarily my everyday line-up. That means that Miranda will still get his ABs at 3B, 1B & DH. I'm projecting Lewis, Lee, Martin & Julien to continue their upward trends to eventually squeeze out Arraez, Kepler & Polanco.
  12. I agree Baldelli is a pretty good player manager. He gets along pretty well with his players & makes everyone feel relaxed. FO hired him because of his analytics & that he'd copy the pitching formula that made TB a great pitcher team. And he has done that, the problem is we're not the TB Rays. The TB Rays have always had one of best rotation in MLB and a BP stable full of impact arms. Even while Baldelli is trying to imitate TB with a weaker rotation, TB still pitches fewer innings. That's because of TB's superior short relief. The problem with Baldelli is that he's too analytical. He needs to get his head out from the numbers, take a step back, try to see where the problem is & try to resolve it, instead of keep plowing through with the same formula. If the rotation & short relief can't cut it, supplement with long relief. You might say it's not him it's FO, still they're joined at the hip. I have other things against him like not focusing on fundamentals but that could be FO again. I agree that analytics are important. But personally I prefer a manager that goes by his gut & have a bench coach that can help him out with the analytical side. I'd say the same thing about the head pitching & hitting coaches.
  13. Thanks Brock! I appreciate it. It was a very frustrating time. The site crashed again this morning where I was kicked out. Hopefully things will get better.
  14. I'm finally able to access TD. I love Sano's strength & quickness, he had a lot of potential to be a HR king. This organization has a fetish about "moonshots" especially after '19. They haven't been able to fix him but IMO has added to his problem. I think the absence of Cruz & injuries last year hasn't help either. A few days ago I listened to a NYY podcaster that blamed the Yankees for ruining potential power sluggers like Sanchez & Torres by over tweaking their swing, thus losing their beautiful natural swing. The Twins haven't been able to fix Sanchez, he got worse. They weren't able to fix Sano & I don't think they can fix Gallo. They wasted the money that they could have been used elsewhere, taken away ABs that should be given to our own, took a roster spot for a much needed RH OF and maybe forced to away Kepler in a bad trade.
  15. The biggest problem for Arraez is that he has no range. IMO, like SS, range is very important. You either have or you don't. With training IMO with Arraez determination he could become passable at 3B. 1B is his best on field position but unfortunately, he doesn't have the size & power to profile there.
  16. Originally I had Lewis profiled as CF because of his talent & Tori Hunter's mentoring. After his ACL accident I shied away from that idea & especially after his 2nd accident. That running full blast, leaping high & coming down on that leg at that angle was what caused his 2nd ACL knee accident. Lewis will always find himself in that predicament if put in the OF. That's why I had him at 2B & far from the OF.
  17. Fundamentals were horrid. That's includes base running & bunting. Health management was worse. Too much stress on BP & rotation due to ignoring long relief. Players playing hurt which led to losing players. Although part of our problem was bad luck most of it was due to poor management. I agree with TFFL that you create your own luck. IMO our INF was pretty good until we lost Lewis then Polanco. 1B leaves something to be desired but 1B isn't a crucial position & hopefully Kiriloff will return strong as well eventually a heathy & quicker Julien. The addition of Farmer has greatly increased our INF depth. Nash Walker presented that our greatest weakness is corner OF. Even w/ the addition of Gallo & the glut there, we are ranked very low in MLB WAR. IMO Larnach & Kepler will bounce back & Gordon will take another step that will help out but Walker suggested another RH bat. Catcher was ranked one of the worse until we obtained Vazquez which brought us up to average. CF, SS & BP was ranked the highest.
  18. Agree with you BSL. You have to admire them for how they compete in the AL East and especially their success against the "Evil Empire" which the Twins have a difficult time against. I also admire their evaluation, scouting, development & management where they keep pumping out great pitching. The players they need to keep, they keep. They know the value of their players & when a pitcher is over valued (hyped) they trade them for well scouted prospects, so they can continue to compete. They're able to compete much better than teams with higher payrolls, CO for example. Many teams even with greater payroll choses to "tank" to get better prospects & regroup. TB doesn't resort to that, & IMO that's admirable. By not avoiding arbitration is not a good look but I'm not qualified to comment.
  19. That's too bad because there has been some pretty good catchers that have been pretty good
  20. You're right, I meant extend Gray period whatever the price
  21. Can you get out of stats & return to reality. The shift has existed for a long time but with the increase in analytics the last few years, the shift has increased with every year (am I wrong?). This shift greatly puts the hitter to a disadvantage and put the defense to an unfair advantage, especially the 2Bman because he's in the middle of this defense. He is helped out by everyone around him so he needs no range. It was due to such an unfair disadvantage that they had to ban it. (are you following me?) So Arraez stats are not true indicators of his real 2B defense abilities especially his last 3 years. If Arraez plays any 2B this year, this will be the true indicator of Arraez's true ability at 2B. I personally don't want to be proven right. Keep him off 2B
  22. Don't trade Kepler, his trade value is down, we won't get anything for him. Due to the shift ban, Kepler will get his swing back & his offensive #s will look much better. At that point we'll see how Larnach will have progressed. Gallo main problem isn't the shift, it's his SOs. So IMO Gallo is going down the same path as Sano & Sanchez (lot of potential but can't get out of their rut). I really don't want him take away ABs away from Gordon. I'd trade Gallo as soon as possible for whatever lottery ticket. So to start the season, I'd have Buxton, Gordon & Kepler with Gallo as 4th OF (I'd rather have Larnach). If Kiriloff is ready I'd put him at 1B. Celestino, Larnach & Wallner to AAA, due to injury or trade they'll be called up.
  23. During '19 juiced ball, sluggers started to pull the ball more often. Although the shift existed in '19 it wasn't as prevalent as '20 & beyond. Arraez only started in MLB in '19 thus the small sample size. if he had played more before with even less shift (Twins were notorious with using the shift from the beginning) the stats would be more evident. I can't believe that you have no understanding how the shift benefits a poor 2Bman! I'd need to have white board to explain. With a shift you can get by with a 2Bman that lacks athleticism but now a true 2Bman, much like SS has to have range or GB will constantly bleed through the right side, w/o the shift. Yes it does matter even in a few games if you want win those games.
  24. Thank you Lou for a synopsis of the Flavine reign. Boras seeking them out to make the original deal, got things rolling. I agree that Flavine's focus on getting Correa back was a factor in '23 but the odds of Correa returning was very very low. The fact that Correa actually came back wasn't due to Flavine's maneuvering but was that he was suppose to be here.
