2023 Prospect Previews: Brooks Lee
Reptevia replied to Jamie Cameron's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
If he comes up to stay this year, it would make him the fastest prospect In Twins history. Maybe a September call up is more realistic. -
Bally Sports North Streaming Channel?
Reptevia replied to KirbyHawk75's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I think it goes to show how little the pro teams care. They are not concerned about whether actual fans can watch as long as they get their money for rights. They odd thing is, what does Bally’s get out of it by only showing Twins games in the Metro? -

How Does the Twins Outfield Get Sorted?
Reptevia replied to Ted Schwerzler's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Let’s be clear: Buxton played 57 games in CF. That’s only about a 1/3, and the confetti hasn’t hit the floor yet. Is that seriously enough for a “starter”? Celestino simply wasn’t a MLB hitter last year. Gallo’s calling card is his bat??? A career .199 hitter??? Ok… Gordon-Agreed. Kepler- It’s been a good ride. Good luck wherever you get traded to. Kiriloff- IF he can play. IF his wrist holds up, he should be on roster. Larnach- IF he can stay healthy and learn to hit a curve ball…he could be a 5th OF. It makes more sense to send him to St Paul and find an RH upgrade (starter) who can play CF 2/3 of the games on the trade market.- 49 replies

Gilberto Celestino’s Long-Term Upside
Reptevia replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
“The Twins need someone who can play centerfield regularly with a bat that stands up when the player has to fit into a corner outfield spot.” And they should sign one! Meanwhile, Celestino goes to Saint Paul to learn to be a big leaguer. -
Are the Twins Frontrunners for Carlos Correa?
Reptevia replied to Ted Schwerzler's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Then our medical people are smarter than the Giants and Mets people? I find that hard to believe given all the injured players they’ve signed off on.- 61 replies

Whoa, whoa, just a minute! 1. No one is saying efforts weren’t made. 2. It’s not an “assumption” when there are literally decades of history backing up the point. 3. Again, no one said they should be in on every FA. 4. One of the main reason players don’t want to come here is because they don’t spend money or win in the playoffs. The Twins do NOT have a “boatload “ of talent coming off injuries! They have a bunch of prospects coming off injury that may or may not be successful MLB players… one day. They “upgraded” at catcher? ANY catcher signed would be an upgrade. (I hope he works out, but no one should be pretending he’s a starter). They got a placeholder for Ss. Again, no one is pretending Farmer is a starter. He is “place holding for a rookie coming off his 2nd ACL surgery. He may or may not recover well enough to ever play SS competently. Given the Twins history, Lee is years away from being in the lineup. (Gotta guard that service time!) This isn’t you saying tomato and us saying tomatto. It’s us being realistic and you being a rose-colored glasses homer. (Not that there’s anything wrong with either position). I do think there is a plan. I think the plan is to play .500 ball and hope we get lucky, same as it ever was.

“Rather than columns of names, positions, ages, and salaries, the screen cut to black, a black as eternal and smothering as a starless winter night. From the laptop speakers came what at first sounded like a low moan. It soon escalated into a mournful, broken howl. The sound, not quite human, not quite animal, made clear it was no stranger to the depths of sorrow.” This paragraph isn’t up to your usually high standards. I did like ‘no stranger to the depths of sorrow” and the rest of the essay though.

A few things which have been touched upon: Kiriloff may never play again, and folks on here keep penciling him in. Larnach has shown nothing special, yet he keeps getting penciled in. Do people really think Lee Will basically jump from college ball to the MLB in under a year??? Based on the Twin’s history, he has at LEAST two years of minor league ball to play before he is a regular in the lineup. You think he will spend less time in the minors than Mauer did??? Nothing but dreams and unreasonable expectations on here.

The Twins Know They Need Pitching, Right?
Reptevia replied to Ted Schwerzler's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
“They are also trading for players past the most realistic opportunity to lock them up long-term. Mahle is going to be way more interested in getting to free agency than whatever discounted contract the Twins could offer. They only window the Twins have to lock up players at the prices they're willing to pay is before the player reaches arbitration. Once they're a year away from free agency the player is going to bet on themselves. BTW - Joe Ryan is in that window.” So was Randy Dobnak. I liked that signing at the time, and I like it for Ryan and Miranda now.- 70 replies

The Twins Know They Need Pitching, Right?
Reptevia replied to Ted Schwerzler's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I don’t think they’re even actively pursuing a starter at this point. I think they’re happy to roll with what they have. They may add a reliever or two if available at a reasonable price. If someone (any position) falls into their laps, they may add someone. This team is not one starter away or one position player away. Doesn’t really make financial sense to add more just to add. Will a Pablo Lopez raise our win total? Maybe a couple..Will that make us competitive? Probably not. Will it get people to come to games? Probably not. I don’t see this owner/FO throwing good money after bad. Call it a soft rebuild going into 2024, or call it more mediocrity.- 70 replies

What is a "needle mover" and is Nathan Eovaldi one?
Reptevia replied to bap3141's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
We’ve already traded away some highly rated prospects. Does it make sense to trade away more to improve THIS team? I don’t believe so.
