  1. I am not a big fan of insane spending either. on the other hand the Padres doesn't bother me all that much compared to the Yankees and Mets. more so the Mets. buying a team (building through only high end free agency) makes me dislike them. if you don't have a self developed core of a team how can you respect them? That's why I didn't fully hate the Yankees when they were last winners completely. I mean I still did just not as much. The Yankees now feel more like corporate and how is that fun? The Mets have taken over the George Steinbrenner brand and while I don't like them either. I prefer the added drama over being corporate boring. I think its more fun now to rally against the Mets then the Yankees. The Yankees are so yesterday. I haven't really been to a game where the fans suck. I mean the Dodgers fans can be unruly. but They think its cute or something when your a Twins fan. be a Giants fan and they will have issues.... I have been to games with annoying fans but I am also sure i was that annoying fan to someone else too. Teams like the Twins, Royals, Pittsburg, and I am sure there are others not the Rays though. kind of the A's have a family feel which I enjoy. also the blue collar we gotta work with what we got vibe as well. Teams with too many resources for all problems annoy me. I like when teams get creative to win. and in closing, in addition to hating the Yankees, I hate the Yankees.
  2. Also The spending went up when the Chargers left town. The Padres are the only sports in town now. so where else are you going to spend money? with the Padres being good now that helps even more. They are selling lots of tickets. Compare to Minnesota with the Wild, Vikings, Timberwolves, U of M, Lynx, and St Paul Saints. Does Minnesota have a soccer team? Ski? Polo? or Cricket? Back to the article. I am happy with how this team is constructed. I would prefer they spent on a reliever but the depth on this team surpasses any team I have ever watched.
  3. The Tigers are in a frustrating position. Not quite bad enough to tear down and start over but no help is on the horizon from their minor leagues either. That has to be the worst part that nothing is coming from the minors. At least KC has some good prospects coming up. This makes me appreciate being a Twins fan, at least when we fall apart we can take 4 or 5 years to accumulate talent but we are at least competitive at that point.
  4. If the Vikings and Timberwolves and Wild all left town the Twins could gain enough revenue to approach the payroll tax levels I’m sure. That’s what happened to the Pads with the Chargers leaving town. Add the owner is willing to spend adds the extra 50 million or so and also the sold out season.
  5. It could be psychological. He may still be afraid to air it all out after the injury. But I think he just needs time to build back up.
  6. Looking forward to mid summer of 98-107 mph fastballs from the staff. will be fun to watch.
  7. The starter should be the winner of 2 out of three if paper, rock and scissors . That’s usually the best way to settle a 5 way tie.
  8. So do we need to develop pitchers in our system or do we need to draft and develop them so they count? We traded for and developed Alcala and Duran. Also on the horizon is SWR. We technically drafted and developed Thielbar, Jax and Moran. Ober and Winder have the most MLB experience and will be atleast good middle to back end starters. Varland did well in his first appearance in the show. We have lots of other prospects as well Preliepp and Raya among others. We also have 3 openings next season so let’s hope the development continues. again the 2020 season really messed things up for pitching development and last year was our first full normal development season and we have several pitchers knocking on the door. And I will take prospects however we get them. Even the ones we acquired for nothing. (C David Banuelos who will be in AAA for example).
  9. Since he unlocked his stuff with Falvine would that make him one of their successes for developing pitchers? also if he can pitch through age 40 season he could end up with over 600 games for his career which is above average for a reliever. Through age 42 and he can approach 750. That’s more than most relievers who came up in their 20’s and stayed. I hope he can finish his career in Minnesota. That would be cool.
  10. It’s going to get weird when we acquire Chase Petty for our rotation in a few years.
  11. If Dobnak makes 30 starts it’s because he is pitching great. We have too many options that can pitch well. It would take many injuries for that to be the reason he gets 30 starts. Injuries are more likely to get him 10 starts give or take.
  12. If Dobnak makes 30 starts in the majors it’s because he’s pitching better than the other prospects who are higher rated and putting up consistently good numbers to be able to stay in the rotation. Do I expect that this season no. He could get half a season as a reliever and spot starter this year. But next year we are short 3 starters. It would be nice if he was a viable 5th starter for next year. I have no expectations other than I hope he can make it back and add 1 WAR to his totals to justify his extension.
  13. I don't know man. Pete Incaviglia had a much faster rise to MLB. If he can't surpass Pete how is he even a top prospect? (for those wondering Pete debuted in the majors right out of college and hit 30 HRs as a rookie. He was also an average at best hitter for his career).
  14. Signing hand vs Megill can’t hurt to have them earn that spot in the pen.
  15. I like our rotation a lot. its better then the 2010 rotation. (we had a solid 5 starters that season). our defense should be back to the standard TK version from what I am reading here with all the good defensive players we have here. I like our depth. we have lots of solutions to add in case of injuries. i think the line up is ok. but its way better then it would have been if Correa signed elsewhere. I am not sure what to make of the Gallo signing in all honesty. I guess i hope he hits like Sano. 35 HRs lots of Ks and walks. I guess the real lineup improvement will hinge on Gallo's bounce back and AK development and return from injured wrist and how long Buxton can stay in the lineup this year. Can he make it to 130 games with 90 in the OF and 40 at DH? The bullpen is solid or more aptly average. There is potential there. so do we have a greater then the some of all parts team or is it going to be another season where we spring a leak somewhere new every game? that is why we watch to find out.
