  1. Yeah, remember a few years back when the Yankees were hoping A-Rod would get suspended...... so they didn't have to pay him.
  2. For sure the player is suspended without pay. Being forced to give it to charity wouldn't be without pay because if would severely diminish their taxable income and they basically wouldn't owe any taxes on the rest of the money they earned. If the team is still forced to fork over the money (which I'm highly skeptical of), then it would be THEM that get to donate it.
  3. SportTrac looks to consider it not part of payroll: http://www.spotrac.com/mlb/minnesota-twins/payroll/2015/
  4. I believe that's how fines work, but not suspensions.
  5. Out of 3.5 We didn’t have to pay him that first half year
  6. Would you prefer Lynn 4/56 or 1/12? I bet it’s a mixed bag on here I think Lynn wanted to bet on himself but I would think two weeks ago 4/56 would’ve been pretty enticing.
  7. Given the Twins’ recent luck he’ll probably need surgery that is performed on pitchers 99% of the time. Or maybe a completely different sport. Tennis Elbow? Cauliflower Ear Infection? Black Lung?
  8. I’ve been on vacation and am not fully caught up in the thread, but I have two quick points about Odorizzi’s BABIP.... 1) his BABIP was lower than one would expect partially because so many of his batted balls left play. I suspect the entire league has a lower than normal BABIP 2) I wonder what his BABIP would have been if you normalize his very high HR/FB percentage and consider those new “non HR” as fly ball outs.
  9. Unless the last starter you are using is below replacement. (Not that I think that is the case here)
  10. This is an interesting ramification of the depressed FA market that I hadn't thought about. Not only as it relates to Dozier but also the other 5 (?) guys the Twins would be interested in talking to about an extension. Obviously it depends on how he does this year, but I think this FA market would make it more likely that Dozier would take the ~18M qualifying offer. I mean, I don't think he'd get Cain money (5/80M), so if he was a FA right now, what could he expect? 4/60? 3/50? Especially if he had a draft pick tied to him. Same goes for less potentially stratospheric players like Rosario, Kepler, and Polanco (though I'm a big Rosario fan).... would this market make them more willing to add a couple potential FA years on to an extension? Maybe. Would Eddie take a Yelich-esque offer of 7/50M, which would buy out two of his FA years?
  11. Obviously not happening, but it's interesting to think about. Sit back and think about all of the player (supply/demand) ramifications this would have. Too many to type, but I think elite closers would become more valuable, position players with one elite skill (HR, speed, etc) would become more valuable, and 4/5th starters and just good RP would become less valuable. Also... what would that do to lineup construction? Maybe, at the same time, they do away with the DH My head is spinning!
  12. Depending on what the FO thinks of Wade, it make them more open to dealing Rosario or Kepler. The issue with trading Rosario or Kepler (presumably for pitching) is that a team willing to give up a quality starter most likely wants an asset back with more than 4 years of team control left.
  13. Another website used Melky Cabrera as a comp. I think 2011-2016 Melky is Wade's ceiling. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/cabreme01.shtml
  14. I can’t imagine very many people would say 4th OF is Wade’s ceiling. It might be his most likely outcome, but his ceiling is higher than 4th outfielder.
  15. I love how signing a 29yo to a long contract is somehow incredible, but a 31yo is pure insanity. We all know the bell curves, but that is over thousands and thousand of baseball players. This is one dude.
  16. I feel like getting to know this guy would be like getting to know the family that is VRBOing your neighbor's house for a week.
  17. I'd gladly take a slight drop in sprint speed for 15-20lbs of bulk that turns those flyouts, doubles, and triples into homeruns. Eddie's best attribute will always be his hands. I want some bulk behind those hands. Anything better than "below average" on defense, is a bonus, in my opinion
  18. Really enjoyed these the last two weeks. I thought your segment with Slegers was the best so far, it was the most like a conversation as opposed to an interview.
