  1. I remember when Miguel moved in. The only thing he could say in English "Will I get enough to eat here?" The next thing he wanted to know (with Kennys translating) "are you to old to take care of me?" and that was 4 seasons ago.
  2. As long as they call me Mama and not abuela, I'll continue to house the boys. If they think I am old enough to be their grandmother, it will be time for me to retire.
  3. I made 2 mistakes (at least) this summer. I didn't check the carport for luggage before I fed Jermaine and Lewin. Once you feed them in Elizabethton, you own them. That's how I went from 5 baseball sons this summer to 7! Both good kids, Lewin is very shy (maybe because of his lack of English skills). Best of luck to both of them.
  4. Eduardo will probably start next season in Elizabethton. He came by the house and ate and has already picked out his bed for next season.
  5. Believe it or not, The year that Miguel and Kennys lived here, they weren't the big eaters. Eddie Rosario could really shovel it down. All 6' 170#!
  6. Jermaine moved in last week. At 6' and 145# - I have some work to do to get some meat on his bones. Not a big eater (obviously), but I'll do what I can to get some weight on him.
  7. We went to see the Lookouts when they were playing the Tennessee Smokies (only 100 miles from Elizabethton). The kids didn't know we were coming and I got Row 1 Seats 1 & 2 right next to their dugout. What fun to surprise Adryan, Jose, Miguel, Jairo and Jorge.
  8. What a great kid. He is polite, friendly and easy going....oh yeah, he can throw a baseball really fast with accuracy. Good Luck Jose!
  9. Eddie is a great guy. Kept me on my toes (of course he had help from Kennys and Miguel) the Summer of 2011. He's a hard worker and I believe his head is on straight. I hope he stays in Minnesota.
  10. Good Luck Eddie! Another of my 2011 kids makes it to the Big Show! Now I just have to wait on Miguel.
  11. Glad Josmil is feeling better and will soon return to action. HAPPY 26th BIRTHDAY!
  12. They had Eddie Rosario working out at 2nd for a season and he told me he was moved back to the OF because of the lack of OF players. Maybe he could come back to 2nd base to make room in the OF for Miguel, if needed. Mauer could retire and put Kennys on 1st.
  13. My lovable Miguel! The only thing he could say in English when he moved into my home "Will I get enough to eat?". Not a problem. His second question translated by Kennys almost got him into trouble. "Lady, are you to old to take care of me?" I am quite a bit older that Miguel's mom. I told him I was old enough to kick his ass if he needed it. He was a good roomy, quite messy. Kept moving his bed into the middle of the room.
  14. Very mature for his age. I would put his off season training schedule up against anyone. BTW, his wife and daughter are absolutely adorable! Can't wait to see him next month.
  15. Miguel missed the whole 2014 season rehabbing from Tommy John surgery. Oswaldo, Kennys and Miguel can all produce HR. David Ortiz saw Kennys hit a HR in Fort Myers and said that he never hit one that far. All good guys - welcome back in my home anytime.
  16. This is the child that doesn't eat pork, but loves bacon. "Bacon is no pork, Mama". I made sure all of the bacon that came into the house had a pig on the label.
  17. "Thank you" for dinner after the baseball games and straight up to bed. One night, I delivered clothes to his bedroom, I noticed he was asleep with his headphones on. They weren't attached to anything, he was just blocking out the noise of the other boys. As long as there is plenty of fruit Loops and cookies & cream ice cream AND he stays away from shrimp "they make him go POOF", he will be fine. Very mature for his age and well mannered. His English continues to improve. He WILL make it to the big leagues. I can't wait to see him in March.
  18. never saw an attitude issue with Kennys during the 2011 season. If anything, he was more than accommodating to the fans and appeared to be liked by all team members. He was a terrific help to me, being the best English speaker in the house. He kept us around the dinner table until after 1AM many nights with his humorous nature.
  19. We have the whole team over for dinner on 1 of their 3 nights off during the season. I have a wall in my basement. If my husband has to cook 50# of chicken wings, they sign the wall to eat.
