  1. I agree! I have been following his performance this year and I will caveat this with I have never seen him play and I am certainly no expert but I have a hunch that Granite's skill set will translate well to the majors and we could really use a leadoff hitter like him.
  2. Ahhh Dozier - 2 strikeouts and a double play. Can't get much better than that.
  3. This is Matt flipping Boyd for Petes sake. Did we leave all the bats back in Texas? We got Nolasco pitching - we need runs, lots of runs.
  4. I have Twin daughters which everyone thought was cool since I liked the Twins. At the time I was just in shock to hear the news. In any case they were wonderful through the teenage years so I am lucky. They don't like baseball which is fortunate for them - they don't have to suffer watching the Twins.
  5. First, Best Wishes to Terry! By all reports a solid guy but who had more than enough time on his run as GM. Interesting that he was fired at this time - 3 games after the All-Star break- 2 weeks before the trade deadline and fired rather than a negotiated step-down which I would have expected. Cautiously optimistic this will be good news for the Twins future but we will see what happens next.
  6. Picked a great game to go see - a big Twins win! That was a long game though. Hey, we have a winning record against Texas and Cleveland - we would be dangerous in the playoffs-lol!
  7. At the game tonight - rooting on the Twins. Sitting in the shade, nice breeze not too bad. Let's go for 3 in a row!
  8. Suzuki had 2 of the worst bunt attempts I have seen. That goes along with his pop-up bunt suicide squeeze. Either teach him to bunt correctly or don't ask him to bunt.
  9. I will keep watching soccer if that's what it takes to get us some runs!
  10. I switched to watch a recording of the Belgium-Wales game. More scoring than the Twins can produce.
  11. What kind of 0-2 pitch is that. We just don't play smart. We deserve the worst record.
  12. Really a bunt with your hottest hitter up? Someone needs some managing lessons.
  13. I am not going to pretend I understand the calculation fully but this series, Rangers vs Twins, pits the most clutch hitting team since at least 1974 versus one of the worst clutch hitting teams this year. Not hard to identify which team is which. Maybe our clutchiness will even out this weekend, although later it is identified that teams that have a higher clutch statistic strikeout and walk less than average - so in that case we are in trouble with the number of strikeouts we have. The article on the Rangers is below http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/rangers-hitters-couldnt-be-more-clutch/ And the current ytd rankings are here: http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=0&type=3&season=2016&month=0&season1=2016&ind=0&team=0,ts&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0&sort=11,d
  14. A couple of observations - Love how Eddie could not possibly be any further from the plate and I wonder how they found a bat that small? Did they take the head off of a hammer?
  15. Kudos to Rogers for not giving up a run in an inning! Let's celebrate the small victories.
  16. If I were GM I would cut Nolasco immediately after this game. I have seen enough and we won't get anything in a trade.
  17. Caught stealing then the much anticipated strike out by Dozier. Nice pitching by Santana tonight - unfortunately the usual result this year. Getting too painful to watch - might be better to follow Rochester the rest of the year.
  18. I like all these moves and look forward to them. I wonder if that will be enough though - this team seems to have a losing mentality. I am not sure how to fix that - maybe bringing up some more young guys will help. If we score runs the starting pitcher doesn't come back with a shutdown inning, if we have great scoring opportunities we seem to invariably strike out with runners in scoring position, we give the bullpen a lead and they blow it. At first I thought it was just "bad luck" and it would turn our way but it continues to happen more than chance. Whatever it takes it looks like we expect to lose. Seems like we need a change in personality, if not from the manager, then a veteran leader We can call it the "Hunter" effect but the '87 team had Dan Gladden, the '91 had Jack Morris.
