  1. Seem to be mixing two different things here. Bomba Squad overated (title to the article) combined with how it affected the Twin's team moving forward. I don't think they were overated. Nelson Cruz had a 1961 Harmon Killebrew type of season.....101 wins is firmly on Cruz's back! Getting rentals to "make a run" also doesn't have any long term affects. Giving up PROSPECTS to "make a run" is where the front office can get in trouble (with me.) The risk for the front office is giving up prospects to "make a run at a title" and then fall short. Now you have weakened your farm system and the longer term future of the team is poor. Those front office people end up being "former" front office people.
  2. The same logic would then translate to last year's ERA from our starters....their ERAs were 'artificially' lower...... because they pitched in the Central division.
  3. About a week ago I talked about the top three pitchers on Cleveland being tough to beat. Several Cleveland players on this all-star list as well. Maybe they DIDN'T do it with mirrors last year.........and this year will be tough to beat again!
  4. I have bought into the hype! Loved getting him where we did in the draft! Can't wait to see some minor league box scores for him!
  5. Moore completely RE-transformed his game last year. I get a little suspicious when that happens. I would imagine all the other teams are thinking the same thing. Waiting until the 40-man roster frees up.......is a good idea.
  6. Unfortunately for Polanco, 2nd base is often a "catch-all" position where infielders without a position often end up. Just like first base, we always have 5-6 candidates for the position. That makes him less valuable than if he was a solid SS or centerfielder. That is just how MLB works.
  7. The more you can "fit" players into skill positions, the stronger the team will be. We have 6-7 players who "can play" 1st base (or DH.) Adding Miranda to that list doesn't help the line up.
  8. Ryan with an ERA under 3? That is a little aggressive for him! I guess they can all have a goal of an ERA under 3. Heck......the goal for them all is an ERA under 2! :)
  9. Hopefully, he can make the jump to a spot in the rotation this year. It's not like he is 22 years old anymore.......
  10. Georgia above...... is why I say....please don't waste our time...... LOL!
  11. Hard right now to have Balazovic ranked at all.....unfortunately. Hanging onto 2019 results. :(
  12. Nashvilletwin 1,728o, Seth Stohs said: Good point as always Seth - but good arms are always at a premium and another light hitting likely one year defensive specialist in our outfield is redundant. Gordon earned the ABs that Taylor and Gallo and Kepler will be taking. So, yeah, I liked Sisk, we already have enough D and not enough O in our outfield, and I wanted to see Gordon get the opportunity he earned. That’s why I though it was dumb. ************** Agree with Nashville here! Simmons and Florimon were all-star "caliber" at shortstop but couldn't hit.....so we ran them out of town! Taylor is in the same boat for me. Gallo or Kepler can handle centerfield once in awhile. This will just take the bat out of Larnach or..... (gasp) ...Gordon! LOL!
  13. Puckett had an OPS below 700 his first 1000 at bats.....guys on TD would have HATED that!
  14. Yes...even Puckett! Puck didn't turn into Puckett..... until after about 1000 MLB at bats........ rv78 1 hour ago, miracleb said: Hunter maybe, NO WAY Puckett.
  15. Kirilloff..... "still having some pain swinging?" I have seen that elsewhere on TD....where is that coming from??
  16. I'm not a "negative Gallo" guy....but 12M for a guy that Larnach would match numbers with...... is the trade off. Could have been money spent elsewhere to boost the roster.
  17. Several of you would have HATED Torii Hunter and Kirby Puckett in their first few years.........
  18. Where are the photos from Twins Fest of the slimmer Miranda ......everyone has been talking about? :)
  19. I would argue that Arraez's best year was 2019....but he did get more at bats last year. Also agree with mike (above)......let Larnach EAT! We are talking about giving up major prospects for a guy(Reynolds) who will have the same numbers as Larnach would have if he played full-time!
