Its not fair for me to say right now. Im too busy celebrating the overwhelming successes of our free agent signings. Odo, Piñeda, Alex Avila, and Romo will surely vault us into a World Series title in 2020. why fix anything that isnt broke. The Yankees could never play that well in the ALDS next year.....ummm...wait...a...minute...that Matt Wisler sure has promise don't he?
-
And here is another take....Why am i hearing repeatedly that "we had no chance at this or that guy because they had their mind set on Philadelphia, Arizona, New York, etc, Etc, ETC...fill in the blank. Im only 55 so i wouldnt know, but I am from Minnesota and I was raised there so...If you want something why wouldn't you try to sell your pitch to get it. Bring your guy in.... show em downtown, show em Target Field, talk about the U, take their family out to dinner with TonyO, TK, and Odorizzi. This whole free agent process this year is a demonstration of this FO ineptness and inexperience. SELL YOUR CITY!!..To say nobody wants to come here is a cop out. Its a crappy excuse from a Front Office that is not willing nor motivated enough to promote the things about our city and team that makes players that love it want to stay. Dont use Geography as an excuse for failing at your very important job. This sucks. oh....but other than that i love your vision for the future and especially your budget consciousness. We are blessed to have you two clowns. Phhhhhhhhhhht! hurry before Sergio Romo gets away!!!!

and just for those that say stick to the thread.....Whoever said we needed an ace? Why did we even involve ourselves with Wheeler or Bumgarner anyway? Odorizzi, Berrios, and Pineda is a damn decent 3. What our Einsteins should have been focusing on from day one was guys like Keuchel, Hamels or even Porcello. Guys who have won and know how to hold down a 3-5 rotation spot. I love you Falvine!!! Thank you so much for Alex Avila!!
-
I am not mad, I am over it. Every time I say anything bad about Falvey or Levine I get shot down in flames. When things suck and they trade our favorite players they convince us we had no chance to win anyway. Hence, the "Window of Opportunity" Then when things go great they say "The Window is Open". No Limits On Spending!!. what ever happened to having a plan for what you want to buy before you go shopping? If you planned to move Sano to 1b why not sign Donaldson on the day after the World Series? Now we had no chance on Wheeler from day one? If you knew that why aren't Keuchel And Ryu under Twins contracts? All I hear from Falvine for three years now is a bunch of Bull$*it. I've said it from day one of their regime and everything i know is absolutely true. Excuse after embarassing excuses for not improving this team is not gonna fly. All they wanna do is collect their huge ass salaries and keep us at bay with first round playoff exits. Why should they win? Their contracts pay them now (with the EXTENSIONS) way more than the World Series bonus ever would. They are never going to stick their necks out by taking a risk, being accountable to the fan base, and jeopardize their personal financial futures to bring us Minnesotans another World Championship. The whole thing stinks. Great Job guys. Every other contender had a game plan. We loved the San Diego vacation. The winter meetings was for work Derek.... not public relations.

3 Bold Predictions for the 2019 MLB Winter Meetings
Channing1964 commented on Hansen101's blog entry in Hansen101's Blog
Im not so sure about the Astros punishment being handed down so quickly. That is a HUGE can of worms and the investigation must be done thoroughly and completely. I dont see anything happening until after the holidays possibly the earliest date February 1. -
I would like having him back a lot. Its not out of the realm of possibility to acquire 2 front line starters in a year like this. Pineda got better with time and would solidify the rotation if he is brought back. That group of three guys that had a year together already would smooth the transition of any newcomers as well.

Thank you for the article. As a fan of the game(not just a Twins fan) I always have thought very highly of Odorizzi and Cole. Im not sure it's fair to give the Astros or Twins that much credit for fixing either one of these guys. They were destined to be top line guys. Here is a different take. I wonder how many FO decisions have been made in Houston that directly correlates with said player buying in or having moral or ethical objection to the alleged cheating going on. Wouldnt you think extending an older Verlander and not being able to afford Cole was a head scratcher. What about no QO for Marwin and replacing him with Alemedys Diaz? I am so glad im a Twins fan right now. Sorry Astros. and to think of all the praise i gave them.

I havent had a lot of time to think about it. Im not going to say what everuone prolly thinks I'll say(and thats to fire the Falvines). For all the griping we all did, the pitching was a big reason why we won 101 games. A lot of those home runs did not come in clutch situations. When i think back to some of the best offenses i have ever seen in my life the '75-77 Red Sox and the 88-90 A's come to mind. I get it that statistically there were better ones but those two stick in my mind. I think they have one championship total. We all know we need some pitchers. Aside from getting Cole....who would get us over the hump? A year ago we were waiting for a window. Now I feel like we have a one year window. Things will never be the same once Nellie retires. We should have the same offense. Maybe Kiriloff can beat out Cron. Buxton we hope will be back healthy. I do not see a reason to do anything but leave the offense alone. $o say we have 70 million we can spend ....what would you do? I for one would want Odorizzi and Pineda back(yes Pineda). You cant sign Polanco to an extension then shun big Mike for the same thing. Minnesotans are never, ever hypocrites. How can we improve on 101 wins? Berrios will be back. Can we take a chance on Gibson? I would. in a reduced role. Cole would be a great ace. Other ones are available too. If we wanna take the next step it ses obvious that we need 1 (or2) top flight starters and maybe another lights out left handed reliever. We have the money. Please? Let's not do some dumb newsmaking trade for Mookie Betts bull$hit. it really isnt broken....lets just upgrade it.

I would just like to say this to Schoop. Thank you for coming to Minnesota and doing what you do. There's prolly about 20 mlb teams that wish they had you right now. I for one appreciate you.

Without wanting to start an all out debate.....Of course he is on the roster. Who else would you rather see pinch hitting in a tie game with a runner in scoring position?

To me he is a Twin for life. He is the kind if guy we want the children to look up to. I hope he gets it together and has a successful career. The struggles he us going through don't change the kind of leader and role model he has always been. If he isn't on the post season roster, none of that will change for me. Here's hoping he pitches his way into the playoffs and excels in every opportunity he gets. Guys like Kyle Gibson are easy to cheer for.

all good sugvestions...i trust Rocco. If everyone is healthy i would like to know if Cave is better in center or right. Definitely wanting to keep Rosario in left. I dont know if Id change a whole lot but it would be something like cf/rf 26 ss 11 dh 23 lf 20 c 18 2b 2 1b 9 3b 22 cf/rf 60 I would try to get the best balance possible without worrying whether the other team's pitcher was rh or lh.

Have you ever played the game? Maybe you've been spending too much time on fangraphs. Should a team with a 50% playoff chance just give up with 60 games to go. If you think thats out of it then go ahead and think that. One of the greatest things I ever heard anyone say about us Minnesotans is we just wont Quit. You should have to excuse me if it infuriated me when our own FO quit on us in 2018. I guess we should have just quit in May 2006.

Their rebuilding plan didn't include making the playoffs. Then it only included taking a risk when you have a chance to win a Championship. Are the Astros , Yankees, and Red Sox going to have to fall off the face of the earth next year for us to go for it? How much closer can we get? You cant blame someone for any moves if they all of a sudden stop making any. Are there three superstars in our minor league system? I'm waiting. I prolly got 30 years to live. At one point i hope we see some results. We haven't even won the division title yet.

you guys make good points. We are better off. I just see the negatives clearer than the positive. I will try harder to see all of it. The big picture so to speak.
