I vote option B

ESPN suggests a Bumgarner/Smith trade would require something like Kirilloff, Thorpe and 2 more. The Stroman/Giles combo should cost more than the Bumgarner/Smith rentals. I think it would work better for the Twins and especially the Blue Jays to go Johnny Cash on this one (one piece at a time). The Yankees probably aren't interested in Ken Giles but would put together a nice deal for Stroman (propbably centered around MLB ready Clint Frazier).  With the number of teams on the bubble this year, Stroman's extra year might be the target for many teams. Just Stroman alone is going to take a haul. It would almost certainly take one of the "untouchables" to grab both Stroman and Giles.

Giants stars Madison Bumgarner and Will Smith are two of the biggest names on the trade rumor mill. It’s not often we see a rebuilding team put multiple chips in one deal, but could it happen?

One possibility, as suggested by ESPN’s Bradford Doolittle (subscription required), would send both free-agent-to-be lefties to the upstart AL Central-leading Twins for prospects: outfielder Alex Kirilloff, southpaw Lewis Thorpe and two more young pieces.

The ESPN piece Buster tweeted out this morning is goofy. I’ll eat crow if it’s right, but a #3 rental is not costing the Twins anywhere near their top 3 or they should be interested. Stroman probably gets into that group.

This whole notion that a Madison Bumgarner is the prize because of his name remains beyond laughable.

That Giants trade is a JOKE.  Nothing more than rumor mill gristle.  The Stroman/Giles trades are O.K. but I wouldn't give up Kiriloff.  I would go for a 26-year old pitcher with MUCH better stuff who is also under contract thru 2020.  That pitcher is Noah Syndergaard and Wes Johnson and Co. could do a LOT with his talent.  I propose trading Graterol, Sano, Castro and Nick Gordon for Thor and Edwin Diaz. The Mets are a MESS right now and Thor COULD be had for the right deal.  Sano replaces Todd Frazier, Castro gives them their first major league catcher since Piazza.  Graterol & Gordon give them young talent.  Throw in Gonsalves for good measure.  The Mets need some talent ready to contribute immediatly (Sano, Castro) and some future talent that could contribute soon (Graterol, Gordon) and someone to take a flyer on (Gonsalves).  

Agree the Giants proposal us ridiculous for a pair of rentals. IF Bumgarner was not a rental and the Twins truly thought they could work with him to beat #2 or really, really good #3 I'd consider it.

Again IF the Jay's trade was real, I like it so much more for many reasons. Were it a reality, trying to look at it from the Jay's perspective, I think I'd lean to option A. Again, from their perspective, I think I'd want another 5th player thrown in to the deal. There is enough question about Javier and Badoo and their 2019 seasons and low level in the system...despite talent and potential...that I would need that 5th piece, or swap out someone I felt was closer to the ML level or felt more SURE about. Maybe Larnach instead of Badoo, OR, toss in Gonsalves or toss in Blankenhorn as the 5th option.

That kind of deal hurts, but does nothing to decimate the system.

From the Jay's perspective, I have, of course, PROSPECTS, but some immensely talented prospects. I may have to wait a couple years for some of them, but it would be worth the wait.

I like the idea of the Mets trade, but do not expect Catro in the deal.  For two reasons, Mets would not want a guy at end of deal, they could sign him in offseason if they want, and Twins will be down to 1 catcher until the turtle comes back, which no time table is set.  

What do you think it takes to land Boyd & Greene? Normally I would not consider a trade within the division - but these 2 are the 2 from the same team to get. Controllable till 2022 - better than the Giants 2 or the BlueJays 2 I think. Stroman/Giles are also both a locker room challenge - reports I've read on both suggest this anyway? I also like a Mets deal w/Wheeler and Lugo - I don't see them offering up Syndergaard for anyone. The benefit of a Giants deal has to be giving way less. I'm in if it costs AAA guys who aren't getting to Target field any time soon. If we're giving up top ten guys below AAA then I don't want rentals. We need a starting 5 next year.

I don't see the Twins making any deal that includes anyone on the Major League roster.  Possibly one of Astudillo or Arianza, but it's unlikely that a team in rebuild mode would covet either of them.  Perhaps Cave might have value, but the Twins won't make any move that upsets the core that they have in place.  They are looking to supplement what they have, not subtract.
