As I was leaving Target Field tonight, I noticed the game attendance was 33,000 and change. On a beautiful night early in the season with the Boston Red Sox in town, we still had over 6,000 empty seats in Target Field. It used to be that when a team like Boston or NY was in town, we would sellout and have another couple of thousand people packed in the ballpark with standing room only tickets. I know that I plan on going to all the games that I have tickets for this year, but with the product

Fun fact about Liam Hendriks. He has only walked 60 g
Over the last few weeks, many people have posted about the Twins lack of wins. The poor record last year, along with the slow start this year has people calling for everything from blowing up the team, to firing the manager and front office, to increasing the payroll 20% in an effort to bring in more talent. I suppose a strong amount of emotion helps to show the strength of the fan base. Over the offseason, the Twins did not blowup the team. Rather they patched up holes with some establishe
Originally posted at http://troystwinsdugout.wordpress.com/2012/04/24/saying-if-only-this-or-that-had-happened-wont-change-the-outcome/ The Twins so far this season have a record of 5-12. One of the reasons for this is the fact that they've not taken advantage of scoring opportunities. They've hit into 19 double plays. Not only that, they’re 8-47 with runners in scoring position in their past five games. Last night's 6-5 loss featured an excellent opportunity in the eighth inning for the Twi
The Twins are 5-12. Terry Ryan has brought this team into the 2012 season woefully unable to compete at the major league level. Doing things "The Twins Way" or "The Terry Ryan Way" isn't working. No hard feelings. The Twins should clean house and simply try something different. The new GM should start by firing the entire field staff on Day One. How about starting a list of managerial candidates? Hrbek, Molitor, Carew, Smalley, Laudner, Or my favorite, how about Dan Gladden, a guy with 2 World

According to Rhett Bollinger, Ron Gardenhire confirmed that Francisco Liriano will skip his next scheduled start and will make his next start in Anaheim on May 1. Gardy said that he attributes Liriano's troubles to both mechanical issues as well as nerves with guys on base. He said that Anderson will watch Liriano throw BP sessions this Thursday and Saturday as they watch for progress. After Liriano's last start, Gardy said that they would "take a step back" and look at what the next step
When the idea of adopt a Prospect came up my first choice was Jason Wheeler for several reasons. First he is a impressive young man to talk to, second my wife thought he was a nice boy, third he met Harmon Killebrew and my son is named for Harmon, and fourth he is a member of the Snappers. So a bit about the 6 foot 8 inch, 265 pound left handed throwing young man from Torrance, California. Jason comes from a family of athletes, mom and dad both played college basketball and his older brother

Here is this week's installment: Very disappointing loss to the Red Sox last night, but some highlight reel plays and lots of near misses. Unfortunately that left the Twins with a 5-12 record, seven games under .500 and 5.5 games behind the Tigers. The official rule 4 MLB draft order has been announced and the Twins have 6 picks in the top 100, including the second overall pick Phillip Humber, another player discarded by the Twins, pitched a perfect game last Saturday. Add that
Original post from North Dakota Twins Fan ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Seth Stohs and the other TwinsCentric guys have put together an interesting concept for inclusion on their website, TwinsDaily. Yesterday morning fans were asked to "adopt" a player from the Twins minor league system to follow as that player travels through the farm system. Each player was only allowed to be pick once and it was offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Once you selected a player the rules became pretty simple. You we
Not much to say after game like tonight for the Twins. Down early, good comeback, Marquis gives up a HR to Ross, Capps gives up a 2nd HR to Ross to lose it. Thankfully this is only a few games the bullpen has let them down, however, this could also be a sign of things to come. We'll see... Down on the farm wasn't much more successful. Rochester had a scheduled day off, otherwise the other 3 teams lost. No great single player performances. Everyone just had a case of the Mondays. . . Here is
I blame myself. I do. Heading to the middle of the eighth inning, I’m forced to leave my seat to pick up my kid at 10:00. By the time I walk through the stadium, I’ve heard the roar and see Jamey Carroll standing on third base with no outs and the third through fifth batters coming up. If I didn’t have to pick up my kid in 10 minutes, I SWEAR I would’ve stuck around. I mean – you know me by now. Is there anyone MORE superstitious? Four blocks away from Target Field I say to The Voice of Re
Clete Thomas joined a long list of guys that the Twins drafted at one point, didn't/couldn't sign and joined the organization later. Some other names that are on this list are Steve Pearce, who was cut in Spring Training, and Michael Holliman, who made a push to be on the opening day roster and is now in Rochester. There are other players who left the state of Minnesota at some point, only to come back later, like Cole Nelson, who left the state to attend Auburn, but was acquired by the Twi

After pitching in the Dominican Winter League, Liriano had seemed to have it all together in spring training and he was ready to help the Twins forget about the headaches involved with the 2011 season. But here is a prime example of

Is Brandon Webb available???? The Minnesota Twins and Oakland A's would be teams that would look at bringing a guy like Brandon Webb in for the cheap. We have disaster area going on right now. I don't care who you are you aren't going to compete with Pavano, Marquis, Blackburn, Swarzak, Hendriks. This is if Blackburn is healthy, we saw what happened to Baker. I posted that I am giving the Twins some slack for the first 60 games, but something has to happen in the rotation. If Brandon Webb
Twins lose the game, the series and the road trip. There are 3 games left in the tough 19 game stretch (if you for some reason include Baltimore). With a series win against Boston at home, they will either go 7-12 or 8-11 in those 19 games. Like I mentioned before, that would be acceptable in my mind. Down on the farm, Scott Diamonds impresses against division leader Lehigh Valley, upping his record to 4-0 and is quickly becoming the favorite SP to be the first to be called up. With Liriano's
Jose Rodriguez was the Twins Daily short-season minor-league hitter of the year. He is at the Dominican facilities for spring training now but will likely join Extended Spring Training in Fort Myers.
I really hold back what I would like to say about then payroll arguments here. The fact that people don't accept the amount taken in dictates the amount going out requires one of two things. Extreme financial ignorance or fanatical bias that prevents the acceptance of something some basic. I did not change the argument. It's the same idiocy over and over. Do you really want to be on the side that suggests revenues does not determine spending capacity?
