  1. There’s a reason it is known as the Eastern Seaboard Prejudice Network.
  2. IMO that the second best infield defense and the 5th worst had a difference of 13 runs over 162 games kinda tells me that unless your guys are absolute butchers, infield defense is fairly unimportant.
  3. Other than the first couple times through the rotation, how big of an issue is length going to be with a ten or eleven man bullpen?
  4. I tell ya, I get no respect. No respect at all. I looked up my family tree. Three dogs were using it. ~ Rodney Dangerfield, the man, the myth, the legend
  5. Even if having Rosario in the lineup means they don’t upgrade the starting rotation? Keep in mind, Odorizzi is UFA. Where do you think they have a better chance to fill in a hole? Corner outfield or at the top of the rotation?
  6. People advocating for the retention of Rosario seem to be forgetting these are still the Minnesota Twins. Money is, and likely will always be, a factor in every roster decision. So, if Rosario is with the Twins next year, that’s about $12 to $15 mil the team can’t spend elsewhere. Like on an elite level starting pitcher for example.
  7. I thought the quarrantine time after a positive test was two weeks. That’s still a few days away. And he has to test negative twice I believe.
  8. He doesn’t hit enough to justify playing a corner spot. We’re still talking about a guy with a career OPS + of 87 in 1300 plus MLB PA. His only value is in playing plus plus defense in CF.
  9. I guess I don’t know exactly how the AFL works but I would hope that teams sending guys there would have substantial input as to how they are used. They are there to learn, after all. What’s the point of teaching them the wrong things?
  10. I love all this “Rosario is a team leader” stuff. I didn’t realize we had so many people posting to this forum who were members of the team. After all, the players are the only people who know who their leaders are. Fans don’t.
  11. There has to be some reason why Lewis only played one game at SS in the AFL last year. He played 5 in CF and a dozen or so at 3b.
  12. Rosario is more likely to be non-tendered than traded. As you mention, he provides marginal offense and subpar defense at a premium price. Those are the kind of players being squeezed out of the league.
  13. I don’t believe they have enough position players to field two complete teams to play an actual game. I think half of the extra 30 guys are pitchers. As far as I know the rules don’t say anything about being allowed to bring in other guys to be able to play actual games.
  14. Problematically, even a 4-6 week timetable is a season ender. And btw, with no minor leagues, no place to play rehab games.
  15. It’s been noted that Royce Lewis could be an option in center field. All of a sudden, there’s an opening. It certainly changes his status from “unlikely” to help in 2020 to “possible”. He played 5 games in CF in the AFL last year, compared with one at SS. There has to be a reason for that.
  16. California just shut down bars and restaurants again. I’m not sure if the governor has the authority to prevent MLB games from being played in California. I suspect he does, or at least thinks he does. That would force four teams to relocate. As a matter of practicality, if any state that hosts a MLB team says “no” that will end this experiment.
  17. So, we have now hit the 60,000 new case per day threshold in the US 3 times in the last 4 days. I gotta say, I think this plan is going to collapse even before games start. The health situation in this country is literally twice as worse as it was two months ago. It looks increasingly likely that college fall sports aren’t going to happen. Many locations are likely to be in complete lockdown soon, including places where teams are supposed to play. Notably Florida, Arizona, California and Texas. Given that the spread is so rampant in the sun belt, even the once touted plan of playing all games in the deep south is going to be a non-starter. If they hit 80,000 new cases per day in the US before games are scheduled to start (which seems very likely), I think they will be pressured to put the brakes on. Maybe not by the federal government, but by enough states to make it matter (New York, California, Washington, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, Georgia, and perhaps others).
  18. I would say the likelihood of a vaccine being widely available in this country before April of 2021 is less than 20%. More reasonable timeframe is late fall 2021. Even that would be record time.
  19. It’s all about the Benjamins remember? The more players that are rostered, the more that get paid. Right now, players that aren’t on the taxi squad are getting $400 per week. I’m not sure if they would be eligible for unemployment. But that likely wouldn’t even cover housing for most guys.
